The old fashioned decor and all the thoughtful details really made this hotel a stand out. I loved all the tiny extras from the basket of fruit and snacks on every floor, to the French press coffee maker with a tin of coffee. Everything felt 4 star. I really appreciated the silicone-free shampoo and conditioner as well. The location is ideal with lots of restaurants in walking distance. The lobby is beautiful. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. I won’t stay anywhere else in the area again.

You could easily see where the cleaners skipped areas. I was tempted to write in the dust. Be warned that the building doesn't have elevators. Bear that in mind when you get a room on the third floor and have a ton of bags. Breakfast was great, with made to order omelets.

I don't know where to start with how appallingly bad this place is. Ever single hotel, motel, and hostel I've stayed in my entire life has been better than this. Every single one. I am not exaggerating. The room is outdated by about 30 years and looks nothing like the pictures. They stocked the room with one set of towels, one roll of rough filmy toilet paper, and one packet of coffee for two people for a four night stay, and we're grudging at best when we asked for more towels and TP. Housekeeping services are non existent, I had to ask twice just to get them to empty a garbage can, and even then they seemed resentful of having to do it. The windows appear to have never been cleaned. The stove does not work. The "breakfast" is pre packaged junk food without so much as a single piece of fresh fruit. The "hot" water is just barely more than cold and not quite warm. The parking lot is constantly littered with various garbage. I wish I could point to even one good thing about this hotel, but there is nothing good to say, it is entirely terrible in every way. Please do not stay here, they do not deserve any business.

I love this hotel. The staff are nice and the gym had really cool equipment including Pelaton machines. Our room had comfy beds and the service provided is extraordinary. Has good distance from attractions and cities like Oakland and the Coliseum. Use this hotel if you like Marriott Hotels and I recommend it.

My boyfriend and i just checked in to this hotel and the women who checked us in was very sweet and accommodating. She told us they had a free upgrade to a deluxe king room! We were very happy with this, especially as she described the details of the room. Another worker, I’m assuming her manager (an Asian women, i did not catch her name) came over and immediately started whispering and taking over her computer. She literally down graded us right in front of our faces … the women who was originally helping us looked super apologetic. Its hard to feel like this wasn’t possibly a racial issue. I hate using “that card” but my bf and i are African American and it’s hard to believe a manager would have done this to another couple. I work in the hotel industry and know what an absolute no no it is to treat guests this way. This is my first review EVER thats how impactful this encounter was for us.

Lelaine was the agent who checked me in when I first got to the hotel and she was very accommodating and sweet. Good customer service skills seem hard to find these days and she just has them naturally.

The hotel has been updated in the lobby and the rooms. The only negative is the hallway smell of food. Not sure if there has been food spill, or if it's the cooking inside the suites that permeated out the room doors. There are also bags of garbage left outside of rooms that aren't collected so together with the odor it really brings down the class of the hotel. The breakfast buffet is great. Lots of cut fresh fruits, cooked oatmeal, Canadian bacon, scrambled eggs, 2 french toast griddle stations, yogurt, granola, juice, bread and muffin. They keep things filled constantly so you can get a very filling breakfast. They installed sensors in bathrooms so that lights would be turned off automatically if there is no motion detected after a short period. This can be problematic when you're in the shower and they placed a bath towel right by the sensor, blocking movement inside the shower. Having the light go out on you in the middle of the shower can be a weird experience, so be sure to remove the bathroom on the rack before you step into the shower.
