Beautiful Hotel on the Beach
Reviewed By Jeff7520The rooms are large suites with comfortable beds, large bathrooms, and balconies. The grounds are very well kept and full of tropical trees and plants. There is a restaurant and bar on the grounds with a good sunset view through the trees. It's right on the southern end of Playa Hermosa so you don't need your car to get to anything nearby (actually you can even walk to the main part of the town a couple blocks away). This hotel was a nice end of our trip with our family getting a bit exhausted and needing to rest and relax from our adventures. Also listen for the howler monkeys in the morning (I never saw them at the hotel but did see them many times on our trip).

Economical option for one or two nights
Reviewed By Galina KEconomical option to stay one or two nights max. The standard room has a small fridge which was nice. Secure parking on site. Breakfast is in the restaurant next to the hotel. It was a little buffet with a few options, nothing special but was quite filling so no complaints. The Hermosa beach is walking distance 5 minutes, has calm waters but a bit boring to our liking to stay more than one hour. The location is good as it allowed us to explore other nearby beaches, such as Panama, Coco, Tamarindo, Flamingo. Disliked · Crowdy pool with way too many people most of time, we didn't want to use it. The Playa Heromosa village itself is very small with nothing much to do there. So we went for a dinner one night to the Coco beach and the next night to Tamarindo, The restaurant where breakfast was served had open windows and doors but it was inside. I would prefer an outside open air place for breakfast during covid times. Not effective communication by the reception during check in. They did not mention anything about breakfast even though our stay included breakfast. So I had to go there again and specifically ask, Apparently they give coupons for breakfast in the ajoining restaurante. They should have explained everything at once and provide all the coupons at once at the check in time. Also they had to provide the WIFI details at the checkin. Next time we will stay somewhere else.

Alberto, the owner, and his wife Kelsey, were extremely responsive to every question we had, and were always pleasant. Alberto recommended some excellent tour companies and spent a lot of time making reservations for us. Our room was right across from the beautiful pool. It was so easy to slip into it for a morning or evening dip. We also appreciated the outdoor shower on our return from the sandy beach two blocks away. Oh, and breakfast! Every morning Kelsey would serve beautiful plates of papaya, watermelon, mango and pineapple. There was a limited choice of breakfast so we alternated. Alberto makes a terrific omelet which we highly recommend.

Reviewed By Beth2855I simply can't say enough great things about this place! You can't beat the location, approximately 20 mins from Liberia airport. This hotel is located footsteps from the ocean and within walking distance to several restaurants. The hotel offers a bar/grill as well. You can't beat the service; nightly specials (red snapper is amazing). Everything is very reasonably priced. Joshua, Louis and Gabby were all so accommodating. By the end of the trip, they seem like family. The rooms are well kept: clean, cold air conditioning and hot showers. Housekeeping is impeccable and performed daily. Depending on your view, you can see howler monkeys in the trees. I can't wait to return!!

Reviewed By CADanielI rate La Gaviota Tropical as "Excellent" based on the Sol y Mar Suite which was well appointed with a large ocean-front balcony. The hotel is only five rooms and offers a high level of service. Particularly appreciated Luis who is pictured in the photos. The restaurant on the ground floor (Roberto's) was convenient, but average. I was somewhat surprised that the did not offer orange juice with breakfast which was included in the price. The suite was spacious and comfortable offering a wide range of amenities.

Excellent Resort Property
Reviewed By aaroncR6380FNI travel often and stayed at several different resorts. Villa Sol delivers on what they advertise. Our 2 Bedroom Villa spacious, clean, and very comfortable. The ambiance of the restaurant was perfect and the food was consistently good. The pool area was just ok and perhaps could use a little vision there but everything else was great. If I found myself traveling back to Costa Rica I would certainly stay at this resort again.

Our concierge, Randal Picado was very cool to work with. Randal helped us arrange our excursions, as well as transportation to the best local places to try, such as Coco Beach. His happy, easygoing, yet professional attitude made us feel very welcomed and confident from arrival to departure ??✌️??

Reviewed By boldgoGreat bar, restaurant and music. Clean rooms but faulty Wi-Fi. Friendly people but small outdated rooms. About a 1/2 mile hilly walk down to beach. Breakfast was decent and dinner and bar was good. Many other options that are closer to beach.

Reviewed By vctrboStayed here for one night in a 4 bed mixed dorm but since there were four of us we filled the room. Really nice clean room, less than a five minute walk to the beach and really lovely, welcoming owners! Would definately recommend and stay again!
