Excellent time at Iberostar Selection Playa de Muro Villages

Reviewed By HCScotty

This hotel, and more specifically it’s staff was excellent. Exceeded our expectations. It is located right on the beach (which is stunning with shallow crystal clear water), with dining and areas to have a drink looking out to the sea. The property is very well maintained, with gardeners and guys repainting, as well as frequently cleaning of the pathways etc. our room was a good size and had very good a/c and was cleaned daily (thank you to the maids). We ate dinner at the restaurant 5 out of the 7 nights and while it was a buffet, the food was great quality and there was a lot of variance each night which made it interesting. While it got busier through the week as it was half term, it never felt like there was more guests than the hotel could accommodate. The staff deserve a special mention for both their friendliness and their hard work. They were always attentive and happy to help, making it a great experience. As noted, the two outside pools are not heated but I didn’t find this a problem and neither did our kids. Thoroughly recommend and will likely return at some point in the near future.

Nice but the little things matter

Reviewed By K2208TTstevenw

Currently on day 6 of a 9 day stay, two adults and a 4 year old. It was just a quick trip for a little sun before summer. We always tend to go Iberostar as had great experiences in the past. This is our first visit to this hotel, while lovely it’s the little things that let it down. First the good, nice hotel, all inclusive food a little repetitive but good quality pretty much the norm, location for the beach etc is perfect. The staff all very pleasant except one grumpy guy behind the bar which everything seems to be an issue for, perhaps a new vocation required. Slight issues are, they have run out of ice lollies again, this is the third time in six days they have ran out when I’ve asked for one……….. try telling your 4 year old son he can’t have an ice lolly on holiday in 30c…. Really not great for an all inclusive hotel. How hard can’t it be, they only offer two choices of lollies and surely it’s not a shock that kids wont them. Beach towels can be changed for new each day at certain times but the hut isn’t always open when it should be. Great, I’ll just stick with a dirty towel then Not all the bars open ie beach bar etc, these are just starting to open now but we should have been informed of this prior to our visit. On the whole a nice hotel but, after telling my son we’re off on holiday and he can have ice lollies etc whenever he wants it really greaves me that I’m now having to apologise to him that he clearly can’t. Well I’m off the walk too the nearest Spar shop to buy my son a lolly

Great hotel for athletes and families

Reviewed By serkanb425

We had an amazing stay at Las Gaviotas Suites. We stayed in one of the newly renovated rooms facing the pool by the bar. The rooms are nicely designed, the beds are huge (we are a tall couple!) and comfortable. We had a look at the older rooms from 2009 and I hope they get a makeover soon too as they need it badly. We were looking for a mix of an active and relaxing vacation. The cycle station in the hotel provided us with modern rental road bikes that we could access 24/7. This enabled us to start our cycling tours early and be back for the delicious breakfast. There are two pools and one having 4x25m lanes was great for an afternoon swim. The same pool is adults only and we could enjoy some quiet time there. Dinners were also tasty, good selection of salads and local dishes cooked fresh. The wine selection was also very wide and well sorted and the staff were always helpful. A big thank you also to the reception staff, your good advice and help throughout the 1.5 weeks made the stay really special and we are looking forward coming back next May!

Took a punt - what a great punt it was.

So we took a punt - looking for a hotel that will cater for the 4 of us (with two teenage girls). They gave us two rooms not to our liking - no problem. Sorted it out by the morning and we were all smiling for the rest of the week. The staff here are the real icing on the cake. Whoever sorts out the customer service training - give them a medal....make it 2! I have been lucky to travel all around the world and I have rarely come across the ease to which staff make you feel very very welcome. Nothing false here just pure friendliness with a huge dolop of customer focus. James in the kitchen - what a lovely guy who just about takes top accolade in a very strong field. James you are a credit to the hotel industry. Breakfast was a joyous occasion, lunch and dinner were a pleasurable experiences that matched the best restaurants....in Pollensa. Spa was clean and a haven from the miday sun.....although not having the sauna/steam rooms on until evening was a slight disappointment. Evening entertainment was so so - but to be honest I am a difficult man to please in that department. Rooms were spacious and spotlessly clean - and with the sound proofing working excellently especially with the so so evening entertainment at times. Right on the beach and even enough beds to go round. Good luck if you are visiting in the summer high season though. Would I revisit - 100% Would I recommend 100%. Value for money 100% although I know its not exactly cheap. We therefore thank Grupotel for a wonderful week.

Happy to be here

Reviewed By Pamela_p_pamela

We visited with an almost 2 year old. What I love about this place is the shaded baby pool area - there’s nothing in the pool but our kid loooooves it and just wanted to spend her whole day there. We actually didn’t even try out any other pools and we didn’t try the pool with the slides because our kid didn’t care for any of that stuff so I can’t do a review about other pools. She just wanted to splash in the water and she felt safe enough to move around on her own in the shaded baby pool. It is also close to the beach and that was the other part of the resort we went to daily because our kid loved playing in the sand. Thankfully, didn’t get a meal package as I’m pregnant so can’t try any of the buffet options and were not fond of the food from the table service. (We went to the Garden BBQ, the staff meant well and were lovely people but the service was sooooo sloooooow and the food came out really overpriced and greasy….) Instead, we would walk 15-30 minutes for other restaurants which are better priced and had better food. I think the food in the resort requires you to get a food package in order to get a good price. But since the food wasn’t great we just left the resort for meals. The rooms were very clean and we had cleaners come and tidied and changed the towels almost daily. The staff at this resort are all very lovely people. The only thing I found that’s not great for families with young kids is that there’s a night time party or live music that goes on until 10:30 or 11pm every night and it’s very loud. Very hard for little ones like mine who is a light sleeper to have a good sleep during her bed time. She would wake up multiple times before the music stopped. And when the music finally ended she would finally sleep properly. The resort was also very Peopley. But all in all, we had a very good time. The staff really made our stay extra special as they were all so lovely and helpful. This resort is based on our 4 night stay so far, we still have a few nights to go but we are loving it so far.

Family Friendly with a little bit of luxury

We stayed at the hotel for 7 days at the end of May 2022. Our first impressions of the hotel were that it was clean, friendly staff, drink on arrival and assistance to our room with our luggage which was greatly appreciated with a demanding toddler in tow. Our room was large, clean and had plenty of amenities. We had opted for the Hydropool apartment so that when our son had a nap/early night we still had space to enjoy our holiday. The garden and pool was spotless. The pool was impeccable, and the beach was lovely. it was also a nice addition to have a shaded play park for our son within the hotel grounds. We stayed half board, Food is buffet style, and we had no complaints. we opted to go quite early for dinner (6pm) and noticed when we were leaving that there were queues forming to enter the dining hall...but they seemed to move quite quickly. The kids club in the evening was fantastic. a proper production a great interaction with the kids . It is worth noting that during our stay all of the kids entertainment was in German... our boy didn't care and just joined in, but not sure if it would have been suitable for older kids who want to get more involved. Lots of shops and amenities on the doorstep, although limited restaurants within walking distance if you wanted a change from hotel dining. Bus stop into down is directly outside the hotel which is cheap and comes regularly but gets VERY busy. to the point where it is almost impossible to move to get on or off the bus. It took over 1 hour to get from town back to the hotel due to the amount of stops the bus makes on the short journey. We had a fantastic holiday and would love to return some time in the future.
