Pienza, a town in Tuscany, is the "touchstone of Renaissance urbanism." In 1996, UNESCO declared the town a World Heritage Site and in 2004 the entire valley, the Val d'Orcia, was included on the list of Unesco’s World Cultural Landscapes. Pienza was the birthplace of Aeneas Silvius Piccolomini, who would become Pope Pius II. After he became Pope, Piccolomini had the entire village rebuilt as an ideal Renaissance town that would serve as a retreat from Rome.

We landed in Rome the day before we drove to Pienza, and this little hotel is just perfect for a stay to walk into the old city. Parking was easily accessible and our suite with the city view was spotless. The ONLY complaint I have is the shower in that room is in the large tub without doors, so it was difficult to not get water on the floor. The restaurant was great for the one dinner we ate there, and the breakfast was wonderful!

Amazing place in the middle of Tuscany with warm and very polite service. The room was clean and cute, the food in the restaurant as well as the wine from their production, delicious. We enjoyed every moment and we want to go again for sure! Giuseppe, the owner was very willing to give more information about the area. Thank you for your hospitality!

Pienza is a magical Tuscan hilltop town, and I’ll Chiostro is a jewel of an accommodation. This former monastery is in a beautiful setting, with a staff that was eager to place. The valley views from our room and the outside area were stunning to say the least. The pool looked lovely, even though we were too busy to use it. Pienza is definitely worth visiting, and there are a selection of small osterias and restaurants to choose from. EAT THE PECORINO CHEESE made here. We had a courtyard picnic one evening with a bottle of Brunello and bread and cheese.

Il Giglio offers its guests spacious and luminous rooms, each wiht its own bathroom, provided with every comfort. The warm, friendly service of the Staff enhances any visit to Pienza, a Tuscan treasure, rich in art, culture and nature. The rooms, carefully restored and decoraded, reveal characteristic of the Tuscan style: terra cotta tyle, period decor, and wood-beamed ceilings; yet are furnished with TV, independent heating units, and refrigerators. There are also two apartment for 4 persons whit complete kitchen. Il Giglio is situated In the historical center of Pienza in a residence dating back to the Renaissance, just steps away from Piazza Pio II and Palazzo Piccolomini, which you may admire from some rooms.
Exactly what I need, great place, perfect location, clean and right in the heart of Pienza a such well designed town on a human scale. A big plus was the top floor where I spent 5 days with an gorgeous view of Val d’Orcia. “Il Giglio” has a very romantic SPA with Jacuzzi, Sauna and Turkish bath and all this is underground, in cave where I believe used to be a cantine for wines.... really to experience with a bottle of prosecco and strawberries! Thanks again Roberta you are a such wonderful host!!!

800 metres from Pienza sorrounded by a very beautiful and large italian style garden; in the heart of Orcia Valley; relax and wellness area at guest's disposal; typical Tuscan restaurant; wine producer.
Our four night stay at Agriturismo La Collina was a huge disappointment. The property is run-down and the service is non-existent . Breakfast was extremely poor and of the cheapest quality. The so-called superior rooms were of a very low standard. Our towels were NEVER changed for the whole five days we were there!! This has never happened to us in all our long years of traveling. The owner was very indifferent to our complaints. DISGUSTING.

Pienza... Beautiful town situated between the hills of Val d 'Orcia. Pienza is an excellent example of Pope Pius II 's ideals of Reinassance architecture. Pope Pius II wanted to create a splendid city in memory of his papacy. He commissioned the most famous architects and artists to work together on this project, which would so implicity express the philosophy of Italian Renaissance. In 2004 an ancient building in the historic centre has been transformed in 3 wonderful Suites, one for each floor, called " Ideal City ". A tribute to Pienza's ambition to be a perfect city for living. Every Suite is decorated with a special attention and care. Every Suite of 40mq is elegantly furnished and equipped for absolute comfort, with a pretty sofa bed and can host until 4 people: TV, frigobar, air conditionig, free wi-fi, coffe-machine and a cattle. Every Suite has is own bathroom with a shower and hair dryer. Daily housekeeping.
We spent 3 days in a tastefully decorated suite located in a very central part of beautiful Pienza. Unfortunately for 2 nights our air conditioning was broken which, in 36deg heat, and with loud intermittent grinding and clicking noises, meant no sleep and scores of bites from having to leave our windows open. Having failed to address the issue, the contact - Carla - made several excuses including that the weather was particularly warm (precisely why we'd chosen accommodation with air con) and that the air con machine itself was 'too small for the suite'. The manner in which the issue failed to be dealt with was wholly unsatisfactory. After much negotiation Carla removed €60 from our bill as she 'couldn't offer anything more'. I asked to speak with someone who was responsible for the property and was advised that I couldn't do so but that she would let them know what had happened and come back to me. This was on 9th August and, having emailed to ask when I will be contacted, I have had no response. Pienza was beautiful. La Città Ideale Suites were lovely on day 1 but intolerable following this due to the temperature, but the treatment we received by their manager was appalling and will inevitably impact on business.

L'Olmo is a small hotel de Charme in the heart of Val d'Orcia. An ancient farmhouse from XVII century, placed on the top of a gentle hill overlooking one of the most beautiful Tuscany valley. L'Olmo has been renovated in its interior and exterior designs, furniture, wall colours, hydro systems, air-conditioning and strong Wi-Fi. Surrounded by a green garden rich of plants as roses, geraniums, olive and cypress trees, L'Olmo offers a heated pool (12x8mt) equipped with all necessary to sunbathe all day long enjoying the stunning view of the hills all around and little paradisespots where to sit for a light lunch or a snack by the pool. A cosy courtyard with sofas and armchairs accompany you to the interior of the house. The Billiard room is the main common area of the whole house. A stoned fireplace surrounded by velvet sofas, a furnished library with books and antiques then the billiard room, with chessboard and the grand Cannon Carambola table. By the sofa area, you will find also a projector where to enjoy a good movie or sports events. Still on the ground floor is the dining room for breakfast in the morning and dinners at night. The dining room respects the country style of the house: light colours for tables and chairs fabrics, white linen for the tables. Three Suites are on the ground floor, each with private garden with roses and climber grapevine Pergola, sunbathe bed chairs and tables for room-served breakfasts. The other four Suites are on the first floor: two can be connected and become a large apartment with two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a common living room with sofa bed and fire-place. The grandestroomof the house is "Suite Olmo"composed by a double bedroom with bathroom, common living room with fireplace and a smaller bedroom with single bed and private bathroom. The most scenery room of the house is for sure the "Library Suite"; it was the original Granary room for the old farmhouse and offers a 180° view on the countryside with a spectacular bricked wall which illuminates the high ceiling room (4 mt). Each roomis equipped with satellite tvs, safes, air-conditioning/heating; beds are covered by romantic canopies, wear cotton satin linens and have comfortable mattress (most of them are Simmons, except two special sized) Bathrooms have bathtubs and grand shower stull with powerful shower heads. Equipped with professional hairdryer, courtesy service with an Argan line of soaps and cremes, soft terry towel and bathrobes; from most of the bathrooms you can enjoy the marvellous view that L'Olmo offers form every side. The location is central with the most beautiful cities of Tuscany renaissance and is the ideal place to enjoy the nature, the peace and beauty of the Val d'Orcia and, last but not least, thanks to the special colours and lights of the landscape, it is perfect for photography lovers.
My wife and I spent a wonderful weekend in l’Olmo for our wedding anniversary. L’Olmo is a beautifully renovated 7 suite boutique hotel in the middle of the countryside in Val d’Orcia. It has a view on the rolling hills and the most beautiful medieval cities of the region. The rooms are all very large suites and each decorated differently and brethtaking views on the surrounding. We experienced both the Granaio and the Pienza suites. Service is great, it mixes the feeling of being a host in a private house and the professional care of a luxury hotel. This last point is not surprising when you discover that the owners had been the former owners of one of the top 5*!hotels in Capri!!! We will definitely be back.
