If you're visiting Bahía de las Águilas and you're not interested in stay overnight on the beach, your best option is to sleep in Pedernales. Pedernales Italia is by far your best choice. You have all you can ever need to have a pleasant night.

We have stayed next door in Eco Del Mar 3 times in the last 2 years so have always been curious about this place and wanted to try something new so we decided to stay here for 2 days. I’m so sad to say that I’m disappointed. When we checked in they had no idea we were coming and a guy called Blanco looked like he hated his job. We had booked a tent in the second row, with sea view. We got one with the front into a plant. No sea view at all, but to be fair they did find us another tent. Comparing to Eco Del Mar, the tents here are a bit nicer and cleaner. But that’s about the only positive review I have. The food is overpriced and not that great. If you do decide to eat there, go for sea food. Breakfast is the same every day. It’s served and you can’t order anything different. Luckily we all like Dominican breakfast. The waitress in the morning was also the only staff members we saw smiling. They have a really nice bonfire at night, but there was so bar or drink service. Luckily we had some left from our day trip. We tried to book a trip to Bahia De Las Aguilas, but the guy organizing it didn’t seem interested in answering our questions and couldn’t give a time or place, so we decided to go to Eco Del Mar and booked the trip with them. Toilets are disgusting! They don’t provide hand soap. Not even in these Corona times. So bring soap and expect to do a little cleaning yourself. All in all the lack of service is what really put us off and it’s such a shame because the place has such a huge potential, but when the staff looks like they hate life, even while being on the most Beautiful location on earth it completely ruins the atmosphere. I will instead recommend Eco Del Mar and for sure go back there myself in the future.

I have traveled throughout the Dominican Republic for more than 20 years. This was my first time to the “deep south“ and my first time to Pedernales. We went to Pedernales specifically to take the trip to Bahia Las Aguilas. Other than doing that excursion, I am not sure why anyone would visit Pedernales, unless there was something that I was missing. This hotel is subpar at best but probably the biggest and nicest in that area. Pedernales beach is within a 5 min walking distance of the hotel and you can access the beach through the back gate of the hotel. The beach was not very nice while we were there but this was due to the weather. My friend said the beach was beautiful last year, so it is probably hit or miss. There were tons of bugs and mosquitoes and so you could not really stay outside for long periods of time. The property has many different types of fruit trees and we were able to walk through the property and eat guavas, ceresas, mangoes, pomegranates and sea grapes. We could not swim in the pool as it was not clear and filled with leaves. The free breakfast is absolutely amazing if you like typical Dominican breakfast! It is the best thing about this hotel! There is also a shared fridge and cold bottled water available for free. Each room at this hotel is very different. The bathrooms are totally different and the ACs work in some rooms and don’t work in others. Friends of mine stayed here one time before and raved about the AC. The AC in rooms 302 and 201 work great. The AC IN ROOM 301 and 203 did not work. The women that work at the front desk were as nice as you could possibly expect. They let us try to move to another room but the AC in that room was not working either so we just ended up staying in the room that we were in. If you do not care about AC and you do not mind that there is hot water, the value of this hotel is great, especially if you are traveling with three or four people that will stay in the same room. If our air-conditioning had worked, we probably would have stayed another night or two and explore the area more. Stay here for value and convenience to the area. Just be prepared for bad ac and no hot water(typical in many small local hotels in DR).

We reserved our room for one night, the next day, in the morning, we told reception, that we were going to stay for another day, they said ok, everything was set for us to stay, we started our journey around the town, and they called us that they gave our room to another guest, to go back and pick up our stuff, we had to suspend our trip to go back to the Hotel. also, beds were not clean, room service none, at night there was no water in the room, we had to keep calling reception, stuff was very unprofessional, we spoke to reception a few times, and nobody really care, reception kept saying that the Hotel owner gave our room to another guest and there was nothing they can do, this was the only hotel that look like the perfect place to stay, but if you check carefully you will find dirty bed sheet, they tell you that the room was clean, yes with the same bed sheet from the last guest before you, hair all over the bed.

After a year of lockdown, we had enough and decided to venture to DR from the US. After a couple days in Santo Domingo, we drove to Eco Del Mar, which ended up being a 7 hour drive. We had an economy car, but the last 30-60 mins of the drive is off-roading, so be sure to get a 4 wheel drive!! Upon arrival, it was pure bliss. Beachfront, crystal clear water, cactus and aloe plants as far as the eye can see. We stayed in a Cactus Suite and spent a week lazing about, enjoying the delicious food and drinks, swimming and sunbathing. We did a day trip to Bahia de Las Aguilas, which was a short 10 minute boat ride away. There is nothing to do here but sit and relax. The only other restaurant in the area is down the beach. This place is for you if you're OK with minimal to no activity, a few bugs and spiders, and outdoor living. The Cactus Suite is a bit overpriced, but worth having the private bathroom, the extremely comfortable king-sized bed, and the luxury of doing nothing at all in one of the most beautiful places we've ever been. From a COVID perspective, everything is outdoors, and the staff all wear there masks diligently and are extremely attentive. An extra special thanks to Elsa and Pedro for taking care of us all week!

The room was dirty, the bathroom was very dirty, the mattress cover was stained and dirty and there were no sheets on the bed. And no one around to ask for a sheet. I couldn't sleep all night because the air conditioning sounded horrible and I couldn't turn it off due to the heat, we had booked for two nights We only stayed one night, as soon as we woke up in the morning we got out of there, and they charged us for the two days anyway. I can also say that they like other people's money.

Very pleasant leafy feel and good courtyard layout to this small hotel. Clean rooms with all usual amenities. Helpful staff with good food, though dining service was a little slow (we found out staff had only been present for a week so just bedding in)
