contemporary modern and tipical, Hotel Bocciolo offer new wide rooms, with lakeview and all conforts: frigobar, tv, hairdryer, wi-fi… Continental breakfast, private parking, family rooms, suites and rooms with private Jacuzzi. Ideal for your relax in Orta’s lake, is close to the Bocciolo Restaurant for your dinner during th sunset.
Let’s start with the Lake. Orta is the smallest, quietest, and in my view most charming of the Italian Lakes. There’s none of the intensity and buzz of Bellagio, Sirmione and Stresa - this is quiet and a place to relax. The hotel is small to medium size and overlooks the lake. Some of the rooms have a lake view and it is worth upgrading for this. There’s parking and internet (the internet is a bit slow, but usable). The rooms are a good size and (for once) the shower was hot and powerful. For those that care, the TV gets BBC News. The real strength of the hotel is the restaurant. It’s a family hotel run by Alberto & Valentina. He is the head Chef and genuinely cares about the quality of his food, which is excellent. The restaurant gets busy at weekends, mostly with Italians visiting from the nearby big cities. A restaurant full of Italians rather than foreign tourists is a good sign. What did I like most apart from the food and the views? It’s all the people that work there. They take pride in what they do, care about your experience with them and are unfailingly cheerful despite the fact that they work hard to make it all happen.

Villa Crespi, a dream location set in the gorgeous countryside around Lake Orta, is in not far from Milan's international Malpensa airport. This fairy-tale palace and its Moorish architecture are a unique experience with the magical atmosphere of the Thousand and One Nights and a journey through the flavours of the two Michelin Star Chef-Patron Antonino Cannavacciuolo.
Villa Crespi is our new favorite. We love well appointed hotels with wonderful staff and they rocked it! Mateo was super charming and helpful. We left, and walked out without our passports. No worries he said, “I’ll mail it to you at your next stop” at NO CHARGE. Now tell me what american hotel would do that? None that I know of. Over the top. Highly recommend.

Nice room (with little too hard bed for our taste), very nice view from the balcony facing the lake. Helpful staff (and a very cute hotel dog!) Pool was big enough, with basic pool service (Beer, drinks, ice cream and pool towels). Great location just minutes from the town, quite steep hills so you get a free workout going up and down. If you visit by car make sure to take a drive around the lake, very nice!

Great location, worst food and client experience in Italia. We stayed at the hotel during two nights. The location on lake Orta is perfect but sleeping is the only thing you should do here. - the breakfast is included on the room price but is of poor quality (no fresh bread, only in plastics, mostly packed foods) - the second day, as I was drinking the apricot juice served during the breakfast I had a DEAD FLY in my mouth. Not on the top of the juice like it just drowned.... on the middle of the juice like if several bottles had stayed opened and were mixed.... no explaination nor excuses from the staff, just this miraculous answer : « we are in the nature, it is normal to have flies ». Dead flies in the middle of a juice, really ? - there is a possibility to have dinner on the terrasse, and the view is great but the food is horrible and expensive. We asked to the waiter which pasta was fresh and apparently none. We tried the ragù (11€ + 2€ on coperto for unfresh pasta and frozen sauce...) and the omelette (9€ + 2€ on coperto). Both dishes were wayyyy to salty that it was difficult to eat. I did not know it was possible to eat bad italian food, now I know it’s possible :)

Set on the shores of the picturesque Lake Orta, Hotel San Rocco is surrounded by the ancient walls of a monastery. It boasts a swimming pool and views of the enchanting San Giulio Island. The San Rocco was a convent for 150 years. The Baroque-style Villa Gippini was later added to the original building. The elegant restaurant features regional and international cuisine and breathtaking lake views. There is a beautiful garden, a golf course, and a beauty centre called the Body Harmony Center. In fine weather you can access the Wellness Roof Garden, set on the 4th floor. A billiards table and a fully equipped conference centre are provided. Rooms are elegantly furnished with a flat-screen TV and minibar. Most have lake views. Rooms in the annexe known as Villa Gippini are also available. The hotel is close to Switzerland and the Prealpine valleys.
Totally unacceptable price/quality. The hotel has the most beautiful position on the lake. The building and the village are also very worth visiting. But that's all positive about it. But... the rooms are from the 80 ties repainted in a morbid grey tone. The bathrooms are not even worth a 2 star: dirty (black moist on bathtub) and with old discolored curtains (because the shower is in the bathtub..),dangerous doorblocks when you step out of the bathtub, all very aged. We reserved through Booking.com for 5 nights 301 € per night (1505€). After checking the bill the hotel asked us 354,6€ (1773)!! They took 45 minutes to try to find a solution. We decided to leave after 4 nights without reduction, not worth paying to stay in such un unfriendly, dirty and unrestful place. Staff unable or not willing to help. To avoid!

A very nice find near Orta San Giulio, everything is brand new and extremely clean. The rooms are large with nice balconies overlooking the garden, complete with chairs and hammock. Plenty of storage space and a big bathroom. They are very attentive to details and it shows in their little welcome gifts ;). The breakfast was incredible and I would recommend staying there if only to eat. There was an amazing spread of local cheeses, charcuterie, savoury cakes and delicious sweets. The staff was very kind and generous. You can easily reach the center by foot by bike and it is just a few minutes' walk from the train station.

We stayed heee for a week five people age 75, 48, 58, 21 and 19 The hotel is very mixed some of the rooms Have been refurbished our first bedroom had a broken shower and the air con did not work so we got moved to another room which had a lovely bathroom but no toilet seat, apparently they couldn't get any to fit! The bed was comfortable but a total mis match of bedding, no balcony and on a pretty busy road, the towels were so thin you could almost put your finger through! The air con wasn't that efficient and frequently went off apparently they can't do laundry and have the air con on at same time! Breakfast was a strange affair, cereal no toaster and lots of cheese, quiche, pizza and hams and fish the fruit juice was like water The hot water urn broke and there was nowhere to get hot water for tea apart from the coffee machine but if you went near that you ran the risk of being shouted at by the staff! Staff were mixed some nice some rude and really quite unhelpful The snacks during the day were a nice touch We used the car park which was handy as the walk was too far for my father to walk into the centre Rooms and clean towels every day although often at 5:30:6pm when you wanted to come back and get ready for dinner Not brilliant and I wouldn't stay again I'm afraid

When booking we had looked for convenience, a property close to the waterfront for our overnight stay in the beautiful Orta San Gulia. The property is located a street off the Lake in a little Piazza and close to the waterfront. On arrival from Stresa at about 9.30 am we had expected to leave our luggage at Reception before exploring. We were pleasantly surprised when Frederica on Reception took us to our room which was available. Well things became better when we were also offered breakfast! Sadly, we declined having eaten earlier. That's certainly never happened to us before - anywhere! Frederica also assisted with transport to the Statione for our early departure the following morning. Wonderfully, the staff also went out of there way to ensure that provisions for breakfast were brought to our room before they went off-shift! Thank you, for such a wonderful service ethic which was greatly appreciated! Importantly for us, this property is serviced by a lift which has access from both streets. Our room was adequate and fairly typical of the European rooms in older buildings but the linen was fresh and the bed was comfortable. There was also aircon and heating (for when the weather cools). The bathroom was roomy with a larger than usual shower for Italy complete with rain shower and piping hot water (and other sprays). Sadly our stay in the beautiful and relaxing Orta San Guilio was short but the property and it's staff, special mention to Frederica, went to every length possible to ensure that our visit was memorable! Thank you!!

The hotel claims to be pet friendly but then they do not accept dogs bigger that 18kg. This is not even mentioned on the website. I booked a room and then they wanted to charge for the cancellation and they were very rude on the phone. This would have never happened in England where I have lived for many years. DO BOOK IF YOU HAVE DOGS WITHOUT CALLING FIRST.

+perfect location; calm area (except you can hear the neighbors snoring...) ; room access out of the check-in hours; communication and information via WhatsApp; bed room and bathroom clean, free toiletries; nice breakfast - no internet access in the room; very little interaction with the hotel staff on the spot
