Located on beachfront and with a view of the Hajjar Mountains, this five-star resort is located in the heart of the city's residential, government and diplomatic quarter. The hotel's Palm Beach Club offers two floodlit tennis courts, a 25-meter Olympic size pool, a leisure pool, a fully-equipped fitness center, sauna, Jacuzzi, and easy access to the beach. Local sites of interest include the Grand Mosque and Amouage Perfume Factory.
I first stayed here for a month back in 2010 when I started a new contract. This is one of the original 'luxury' hotels built back in the 70s and that stay confirmed it was in need of a refurbishment. Happy to say the rooms have been completely refurbished to a modern standard, although not quite as flash as the ones in the newer W Hotel next door. Depending on the time of day this is a 20-30minute taxi ride from Muscat airport - at breakneck speed as is the norm in Oman. Once inside the hotel an air of calm and relaxation takes over, maybe a little too much for some of the staff.... Being a Diamond Elite member this is normally acknowledged at check-in where I can pick from the range of benefits. It wasn't so I pointed this out and was given an upgrade to what I consider to be the best room - 62x, it is the corner room on the top floor overlooking the swimming pool and gardens. It is also very close to the service lift which takes you directly to the LG floor and straight out into the hotel grounds. When not visiting friends I spent most of my time around the pool which now has online ordering for drink and food, it is excellent service via Omani employees - this definitely wasn't the case a decade ago when I was served by TCNs. Times have changed in Oman. I had the breakfast everyday, there is a wide international choice of cuisine and great staff. I always make friends on Day 1 to ensure good service for the rest of my stay, in this case with the maître de who made sure I had the same table. Another lovely two weeks in Muscat visiting friends and places I first met a decade earlier. The understated charm of Oman is still there, it is so NOT Dubai!

Loved this hotel and the people of Oman were amazing I’ve been wanting to come to this hotel for years. Always a dream and as soon as we were able post pandemic it was the first place I thought of to book and enjoy some R&R. The hotel is well designed and effortlessly timeless. We booked a Club room and it was well worth the extra. Great spacious suite which included a free mini bar. The room has a coffee machine and a sound system both of which we didn’t use but handy to have. The products were Aqua de Parma which is a favourite of mine. We had access to the club lounge which served afternoon tea from 3pm -5pm and drinks and canapés from 6pm - 8pm. The pool area was spacious and because the world has only just started opening up plus it was a hot month weather wise the hotel wasn’t crowded which for us was a huge bonus. With the Club room you were also offered a free laundry service 15 pieces a day which was very useful. We were half board and the food was excellent. A bread basket served with olive oil and balsamic followed by 3 courses. A great choice if you are there for 4/5 days which we were any longer and you may want to venture outside the hotel. The service was exceptional from all members of staff very friendly, helpful and always professional. There are three pools at the hotel and all of them are spacious and the beds are very comfortable. Everything you expect from a high end hotel. The Chedi is a member of The Leading Hotels of the World and rightly so. I cannot recommend this hotel enough and will definitely be returning in the very near future. Thanks to all your staff keep up the good work.
