Terrible Beds
Reviewed By JeansTshirtThe beds in this hotel are terrible. The cheap mattresses are about as thick as the height of the small coffee cup (see photo) provided in the room. The mattress is as hard as a rock and offers zero back support. These same mattresses are used throughout the Toyoko Inn chain it seems - I’ve stayed in 6 different ones and they always the same problem. Trying to sleep on a rock for 6-8 hours is not good for your back. Unfortunately this hotel chain does not supply mattress toppers - I’ve asked many times. The best solution would be for Toyoko Inn to change the mattresses in all their hotels. I’m a Toyoko Inn Club member but I’ll stay elsewhere from now on as I can’t sleep on these uncomfortable beds.

Not as Comfortable as a Western-style Hotel
Reviewed By jpreppStayed here when traveling with colleagues. We were warned that this would be smaller than most Western-style hotels. The size was smaller, but not extraordinarily so. However, the bed was much less comfortable than expected. Being exhausted I still slept, but it was not a comfortable night's sleep like I might've gotten at the nearby Hilton. Next time I travel to the area I think I will try the Hilton. Also, the hotel itself does not offer wireless, but only wired internet withing the rooms. I brought my Apple Airport Express and made my own WiFi hotspot, which worked rather well (internet was fast and speed was sufficient for FaceTime back home). Lastly, this is a hotel where you return your key to the front desk when you go out (and you really don't want to carry around the key with the large attached "key chain"). However, be warned that even if you put the Do Not Disturb sign on the door they will apparently still go in your room to make the bed, etc.

Authentic Japanese
Reviewed By MickmcWorth a short stay just to experience an authentic old Japanese residence. We had a double room that had 2 thin mattresses on traditional tatami matting which was very hard and not very comfortable for sleeping. Was extremely hot when we arrived so would have been nice to have the air conditioning already on but that was not the case - but once that had been running for a while all was good. Host was very friendly and helpful and the common area and shared bathroom were clean and well maintained. Good location just a 5 minute walk form Odawara station for connections to Hakone for day trips and the Shinkansen to Tokyo or Kyoto.

Travel to the Hilton Odawara Resort & Spa, just 60 miles west of Tokyo, in the Hakone mountain's foothills. It's just 30 minutes by train to Tokyo's business district and 90 minutes by car to Haneda Tokyo airport. Courtesy transport runs weekdays to Odawara train station and shops, 2.5 miles away.

Reviewed By SandBTokyoWe are always so happy to stay here. Hotel is high on a hill over looking the ocean. Great and peaceful location. The hotel is big and wonderful to enjoy. Check-in and check-out are very friendly. Can be a bit slow of busy, but customer service level is very high. The hotel has excellent restaurants, wonderful buffet for dinner and breakfast. Rooms are great; super comfortable, clean and a pleasure to stay. The hotel has great facilities. It is very family friendly so you can go swimming, tennis, sports, bowling, games and hot spring with sauna. Everything is convenient to use. We were a bit disappointed that ping pong closed so early.

Plum hostel is a homy hostel located in Odawara Hakone area. It takes only 5 minutes from Odawara station where Shinkansen stops. Plum hostel is the best choice for who go for sightseeing to Hakone from Tokyo, Shinjuku, Osaka, Kyoto and Mt. Fuji area. All bed rooms are dormitory style and all bunk beds. Every bed has a curtain, a private small light and two electric outlets for your privacy.

Reviewed By Jarrod LThe hostel was clean and comfortable, the staff were friendly and it was in a good location in Odawara. The only inconvenience is that the hostel is closed from 12 pm to 4 pm, I arrived at 2:30 pm and had no where to put my bags whilst it was closed. However overall it was a great place to stay.

Reviewed By mhishr花の季節には少し早い時期でしたが、周りの木々が春の芽吹きを間近に待つ息遣いが感じられました。 ログハウスは重厚な作りで、2人で泊まるには充分な広さ。 時節柄、食事は部屋食をお願いしました。正直なところ朝食は…ですが、夕食は期待を超える内容。 ホテルのセレクトワインは大抵、価格は高級でも美味しくないことが多いように思いますが、お任せでお願いした白ワインは、リーズナブルでとても美味しく感激しました。 デザートも美味しく、山中のレストランとしては⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️です。 大人が静かな時を過ごすにはもってこいの環境なのですが、残念なのはファシリティの割に清掃が行き届いていないこと。 汚いと言うほどではないけれど、埃が払いきれていない場所が多く、部屋付露天風呂の床は青く、備え付けのティッシュは少しカビ臭い。恐らく、木のティッシュボックスの臭いが移ってしまったのでしょう。 文字通りの「山小屋」としてならかなり贅沢ですが、ホテルとしてみれば、改善点はまだまだあるように思います。 素敵な環境、素朴なもてなし、美味しい食。 それに見合うメンテナンスが行き届けば、もっと良い宿になるのに、との期待と応援の気持ちを込めて評価3です。
