Visited Sunday 5th June - service was great - we ordered Beef & Chicken roasts and they were huge! But very good. Desserts were Custard Tart & Rhubarb & Banoffi Pie were delicious- would recommend but make sure you are hungry!! Great to see a Spanish White Rioja on a wine list too - it’s too rare and this one was particularly good.

We got married at Barnsdale Lodge last week and for someone who likes to plan and control everything...to leave a lot of the day in the hands of other people was quite worrying for me. I need not have been worrying! The team were absolutely fabulous and the day ran seamlessly. We couldn't have asked for better, it just went perfectly and the team were so attentive, hardworking and accommodating to make our day just how we wanted it. Special shout to Connie, Warren and Rosie just to name a few people who really stood out to us and were just wonderful. Our guests had an amazing time and also commented on how brilliant the staff were, the venue itself is beautiful and the grounds outside were perfect for the kids. Some rooms could do with a little update but they were clean and comfy...Once you went to bed at 1am that's all that matters! Breakfast was great too! Thanks again to you all xx

With this unique setting, personal charm, character, and friendly but attentive personnel, Rutland Hall Hotel is the perfect venue whatever your occasion may be. Extensive spa and leisure facilities makes it a haven in which to retreat, relax and unwind. With its breathtaking views of the natural splendours of Rutland Water where better to hold your wedding reception, corporate event, or a romantic getaway for two?Set in conservation parkland on the slopes overlooking Rutland Water, Rutland Hall Hotel is one of the most unusual and comprehensive hotel complexes in the United Kingdom. This makes it an ideal location for corporate business, conference and leisure pastimes. With a rich and varied range of things to do on and off site there is, we believe, no better position in which to be located in this country. We are part of a Resort so it is very spread out and there is a certain of walking required since the hotel is made of separate buildings for check in, food & drink as well as accommodation.
Location was beautiful and food amazing in the beautiful restaurant £114 for 3 courses and wine for 2 people .We stayed in a lake view room £260 b&b, the room was standard size and the ‘balcony’ on the 4th floor was a chest high brick wall so you had to stand to see the view, bathroom was small and they had forgotten to switch on the shower which we didn’t realise until after we’d had a pathetic dribble of a shower then found the socket to switch it on, the socket wasn’t labelled. We used the pool and I rang to see if we needed to take towels and money for the lockers they said towels were provided and no you didn’t need money. On arrival at a side door held open by a bit of cloth you walk straight into poolside then take your shoes off , the towels felt 10 years old and you do need money for the lockers. On going to the restaurant in the evening it was raining heavily and the guttering over the restaurant entrance was leaking heavily. Due to the Hall being renovated there were lots of signs redirecting you around the site. On arrival I gave my name , there were 3 staff on reception one of whom was booking in another guest ,the other 2 just sat there while we waited to be booked in.

We had a large spacious and clean room for two nights. Very quiet the first night but the second night there was a very loud talker next door unfortunately. I think he spent his evening on the phone! The room wasn't serviced and another guest said you had to ask for it to be done because of Covid. I missed that bit, perhaps we should have been asked if we wanted it serviced? Chris was a card. Got me with his ketchup haha. Breakfast was delicious. The pub is lovely, well kept and cosy in a pretty setting. They don't do food on a Monday so we had to go to the next village pub. Would happily stay again.

This 17th-century coaching inn is in Oakham town centre, in the old market square. It has free parking and original features, including real log fires and ancient oak beams. The Brook Whipper-In Hotel is a traditional country hotel. It is less than 500 metres from Oakham Rail Station, which has regular direct trains to Leicester, Peterborough and London Stansted Airport. Hotel Rooms: 24.
Booked a double room for ourselves and our two Border Collies. Significant surcharge made for the dogs brought our total cost to £155 for the night. The reception area is functional, as are the staff. Booked in & given directions to car park which is some distance away, accessed through the rear courtyard and along the road a hundred yards or so, not very convenient when carrying luggage! The dull first floor room we were allocated, illuminated by just two bedside lights, was no more than about 4 metres square. Furnished with a couple of bedside cabinets (one damaged), small table just adequate for the usual cheap beverages, kettle and an additional light; one chair and a suitcase stand behind the door which, when in use, prevented it from fully opening. The bed was, however, reasonably comfortable. THE ROOM WOULD BE CRAMPED FOR TWO PEOPLE WITHOUT DOGS so careful not to tread on them when getting out of bed! With the surcharge of £25 per dog/night I was disappointed that there was absolutely no provision made for them...not even a dog biscuit! The small bathroom had very little room for toiletries, shower was one of those over-bath contraptions that operates from the mixer tap and was enclosed by a cheap plastic curtain that seemed to have that 'magnetic' quality that immediately clings to you. Towels were small & the heated towel rail remained cold in spite of the proclamation that it "Can get very hot". So to breakfast: seating was at small tables just large enough for two people, certainly not four as ours was set out for. My 'Full English' was unappetising and rather meagre and the poached egg I requested came to me fried! The coffee is truly awful! This rather drab and jaded hotel needs significant improvement. It is located in a prime position in the town and was reasonably clean. It does NOT represent value for money but is, perhaps, the sort of place you would stay for the odd night if the location was the most important thing to you. Not somewhere I would recommend! Note that there are no 'IN CASE OF FIRE' instructions displayed in the room, I thought this was obligatory. No visitor information other than a couple of magazines.
