With its extensive, unique and creatively entertaining restaurants, bars, deli, lobby-lounge, sea facing terraces and beach kiosk, set on this historic and iconic site, the Strand Hotel Swakopmund is a destination in itself for all visitors to and residents of Swakopmund. Its architectural inspiration finds its roots deep in Namibian German history and reflects this in a tasteful contemporary manner. The interiors are residential in nature, and the brief to all designers involved is to create a non-hotel hotel. One as charming and welcoming as the town it is in. Simply very warm and comfortable, and as they say in German: "Gemutlich" with a genuine "sense-of-place". Every aspect of the Strand Hotel Swakopmund is being developed according to international four-star standards. It's very possibly going to be the benchmark against which all hotels/lodges in Namibia will be measured. The Strand Hotel Swakopmund is not simply being built, it is being sculptured.
Beautiful hotel situated on the beach in Swakopmund. Lots of restaurants close by and a lovely art market just in front. Good restaurants in the hotel also, with excellent service. Very friendly and helpful staff, that go out of their way to accommodate their guests.

My daughter and I stayed here last month. It was a nice place to stay with large rooms equipped with great ceiling fan for chasing the mosquitoes away. No mosquito net but with the fan you didn’t need it. Air con worked great. Bathrooms were very cute but sometimes there were mosquitoes in there. We liked the food there a lot. Lots of game choices at dinner. Also great salads and pizza too. The staff were all very friendly and overall it was a very positive experience.

The staff were friendly and helpful and the room was lovely and comfortable. The hotel is in a great position, with shops close by. The food was awful. The fish was not fresh and it was overcooked and tasteless. The game dishes were served with weird tasting sauces and vegetables.

Essentially a very large hut. My wife and I loved the place. As others probably mentioned no internet in the rooms however you are in a very isolated place and are there to see the Namib Desert so the location was amazing. We saw a lone wildebeest practically in the camp which was so cool as it was our first of the trip. The rooms were very clean and kept well. Provided everything we needed with lots of privacy. Would definitely recommend it and would stay again.

This turned out to be quite the little gem. Fabulous location, stunning views, lovely pools to soothe aching feet, lovely staff and gorgeous restaurant at Eagles Nest. We did both the long hikes - one around Vingerklip and the other around the neighbouring hill. The bedroom was a little dated but very clean and we had a lovely patio with its own little friendly cheeky furry creature! The bed itself was so comfortable.

Our name says it all. The fresh sea breeze and the soothing sounds of the Atlantic Ocean at night turn any traveller’s journey into a dream vacation. We proudly present our upmarket lodge situated right at the beach in a lovely residential neighbourhood within 5 km from the city centre. Choose between our 2 standard family rooms, 10 twin rooms and 7 luxury rooms suitable for the individual traveller, families and corporate travellers. Why not opt for a room on the ground floor with a beach front veranda, which offers uninterrupted views of the ocean? This is one of the few places in the desert where you can enjoy the soft, green lawn under your feet and, a few meters further, the sea sand between your toes. Rooms on the first floor have balconies and also offer this visual treat. Looking for an exceptional culinary experience? Our signature restaurant The Wreck is on-site for your convenience and offers international dishes – something for every palate. It varies from an à la carte menu to light lunches and surfer snacks. Our game and seafood dishes are especially popular. Pair your meal with one of many handpicked South African wines. The view of the Atlantic Ocean is unbeatable. A sundowner drink is imperative for admiring the orange-pink-tinted skies before they turn dark and become a canvas of stars. If you ask any local to give you directions to the restaurant that looks like a ship, everyone will understand what you are referring to. Be sure to make a reservation to avoid disappointment, as our clientele is often local and we also cater for visitors from other hotels. Breakfast will also be served here to help you get a kick-start to your day.
Amazing views. When your dream is to fall asleep by the sound of breaking waves, this is the spot. Unbelievable sunsets. Even from the bar / restaurant "The Wreck". Outside of Swakopmund. Need a car or a bike. Parking available.
