I wish I’d read the other reviews here first, but I didn’t have much choice as I needed to stay in the area an extra night in peak holiday season (I’d been staying up the road at Seascape, which is lovely)’ The basic, dated, slightly dusty room would have been ok for the price as it was an emergency, but the management was an issue at just about every turn. I ended up forgoing my ‘$50 security deposit’ (I was a middle aged woman on my own, what was I going to do, trash the place?) just so I could stop interacting with the lady. From refusing to let me check in an hour early despite it being an option on the website so I could start my online meetings, to badgering me at 4pm in the afternoon because I HADN’T checked (I’d had to got to the local library and set up to work), dodgy room locks, coming IN to my room at check in to ‘check the toilet paper’, hand towel quote obviously left from previous guest, quite abrupt ‘instructional’ signs everywhere, 3am bright lights and conversations right outside my door (scary when the lock is dodgy), and not being around at checkout time (fine, there was a key box) and expecting me to come back later, to just being plain unhelpful and rude- if you have another option, I would suggest you take it. I felt uncomfortable basically the whole time, like she was about to cancel my booking or throw me out. Apart from that, the rooms at the back away from the noisy highway overlook a sad empty pool and the car parking is awkward and challenging if you don’t own a Barina. The dog is cute.

We spent two nights in Room 214. Although it was on the street side of the hotel,it was quiet at night. Our spotless room and bathroom were spacious and chicly furnished. Having s bathtub was an unexpected surprise. The vibe and layout of the hotel is fresh, summery and coastal. The coffee cart outside is a cute idea. The restaurant upstairs provides a delicious dinner and breakfast. Lovely touches like the complimentary bubbles on arrival and a bottle of champagne for our anniversary. Thank you. Mollymook beach is only a few minutes walk away. Idyllic!

I stay away for work a lot and appreciate the little details that are so rarely found; common sense things to us travellers. The efficient use of the space, a quality fitout and fittings, starting with the functional workspace desk, in room toaster, kettle and lovely specialty coffee pods, fairly standard. A stocked mini bar, becoming rarer every day. An electric blanket, nice linens, comfortable bed and nice towels. Thats all without mentioning the beach and ocean views from the room and the fantastic location very close to the beach and Cafes and the Golf Club. And lovely service on arrival, thank you

I had a pleasant overnight stay in a good-sized first-floor apartment with bedroom, small kitchenette area, bathroom, living room and a sea-view balcony which had outdoor furniture. It was great to have a large bench as well as a desk, and in the living room a table with two chairs as well as a lounge and side-table. There was lots of storage space, basic kitchen equipment, a microwave, two tvs, ample number of powerpoints, individual air con, good bathroom bench space and complimentary toiletries. There was a bit of seepage out of the shower but not a big issue. Wi-fi worked well. The nice warm bathrobe was a bonus. Bed was comfortable. No elevator but I didn't expect one in a motel of this size, and hoisted my wheelie up the steps. The motel is across the road from the beach and also the Golf Club. There was a cafe not far away too, which was open till 7pm I think. I received useful info in advance e.g. about parking, check-in, local restaurants etc.

The Seascape Mollymook is a comfortable destination for couples and families wanting to retreat for a break, or a quiet and convenient spot for business guests. Each room is like your own apartment, spacious and charming, ideally placed to enjoy Mollymook’s excellent cafes, restaurants, and beaches.
Lovely well appointed spacious rooms with balcony views. Friendly staff, we were given an upgrade as quiet time. Good kitchenette and bathroom, with lovely fluffy white towels. On main highway but not noisy, very attractive decor, and close to dining options. Upstairs room advisable as beautiful views over ocean, although not very close. Wifi excellent and Foxtel on TV.

Stayed 1 night. Quite a decent budget style motel, but good for what it offers. The room size was quite good, and bathroom is acceptable. The fittings are a bit dated, but it was clean and did its job. Our room looked over to Mollymook beach down the road (limited) , so very nice to look out to these views.

Discover a picture-perfect coastal retreat with uninterrupted ocean views in scenic Mollymook. Bannisters by the Sea combines dramatic cliff-top views overlooked by luxury accommodation and superb dining to ensure our guests a restful stay, right on the edge of the spectacular southern New South Wales coastline and the Pacific Ocean. Choose from 34 stylish refurbished rooms, most of which feature a private ocean-front balcony where guests can drink in the stillness and enjoy the relaxing rhythm of the breakers. Bannisters’ location, exceptional facilities and warm hospitality mean a truly memorable experience is in store for our guests
We had high expectations of Bannisters by the Sea to celebrate a big wedding anniversary. Few of our expectations were met. Whilst I knew the hotel was a refurbished old motel and therefore the rooms were small, we had not anticipated that our room would stink of old cooking fumes coming from the Pool Deck restaurant below. Such a shame, as the view and outside deck were fabulous. Just that we couldn’t go outside to enjoy them because of the stench. When we spoke to the front desk the next morning we were very courteously and politely apologised to and offered to move to another room. It had a much smaller deck and not as good a view but at least it didn’t smell. Happy days. Then we went down to breakfast. This is supposedly a 4 star hotel with 5 star pretensions. We have never had such a poor breakfast. Served in the Rick Stein restaurant he would hopefully be horrified at what they offer. My scrambled eggs were rubbery and came with a very small, tough piece of toasted sourdough. My husband ordered the granola and yoghurt pot which had a very strange flavour and texture and was totally unappetising. The second day was even sadder when we asked for toast and Vegemite and marmalade. Our poor waitress was embarrassed to tell us they had run out of vegemite!!!! To add insult to injury the same tough little piece of sourdough was served with 2 little containers of Kraft marmalade - the exact same that come with your airline food or at a road stop cafe. Really???? With all the wholefood craft producers in this wonderful area of NSW, that’s the best the “best” hotel in the area can serve? No little pots of locally made jam? Not even a visit to the local Woolworths to buy a jar of Vegemite and a jar of Rose’s English Breakfast marmalade??? Complacency? Laziness? Who knows but it certainly detracts from what should be a wonderful stay. We decided to ditch the last breakfast in favour of one of the fabulous local eateries nearby. Dinner at Rick Steins was a much better experience. Our waitress was delightful and the food was perhaps overpriced but tasty. The hotel management is lucky they have willing and helpful staff but their job is made harder by having to deal with disgruntled guests. It wouldn’t take much to make the changes desperately needed to improve guest experience, but judging by previous reviews going back sometime, they still haven’t bothered. It’s a shame, as the setting is divine! My recommendation is to not offer breakfast at all and reduce the tariff if that’s the best you can do.

We booked a premium studio room. It was worse than a jail cell. Filthy - smelt of cigarettes. The door was damaged and rotten. Only one small window. Would have to keep the door shut because other people shared walkway. We did not stay. Absolutely appalling.
