If you’re looking for a romantic onsen ryokan in Shimogo-machi, look no further than Toryukan. Close to some of Shimogo-machi's most popular landmarks, such as Tonohetsuri (1.8 mi) and Takakura Shrine (3.1 mi), Toryukan is a great destination for tourists. You’ll enjoy relaxing rooms that offer air conditioning and a refrigerator, and you can stay connected during your stay as Toryukan offers guests public wifi. Plus, Toryukan offers free breakfast, providing a pleasant respite from your busy day. For guests with a vehicle, free parking is available. When you’re feeling hungry, be sure to check out Chez Yamanobe, which is a French restaurant that is popular with locals and out-of-towners alike. If you are interested in exploring Shimogo-machi, check out Ono Kannondo (0.9 mi), which is a short walk from Toryukan. The staff at Toryukan looks forward to serving you during your upcoming visit.
They'll pick you up from the station, though to be honest it's only a 5-10 minute walk (across the bridge, over the gorge from the main part of town). The building is spotlessly clean and feels brand-new. Disappointingly not many of the rooms seem to have views of the gorge itself - perhaps the ones on the lowest floor may do? But the rotenburo (open air bath) has them, and you shouldn't miss it. (Apparently there's a small additional rotenburo alongside the main women's bath, but women still shouldn't miss the main rotenburo, which is partitioned into male and female sections.) Dinner - included - is a typical ryokan feast, with various things you cook yourself over tea lamps. I think this is a good choice if you're staying in the area.

Everyone needs a place to lay their weary head. For travelers visiting Tadami-machi, Yurari is an excellent choice for rest and rejuvenation. Yurari offers guests an array of room amenities including a flat screen TV, a refrigerator, and air conditioning, and getting online is possible, as free wifi is available. The onsen ryokan offers baggage storage, to make your visit even more pleasant. There is no shortage of things to do in the area: explore popular historic sites such as Remains of Kanozu Checkpoint. Yurari is sure to make your visit to Tadami-machi one worth remembering.
I cant fault this hotel in any way. Friendly staff, big rooms, quiet, beautiful view. Also the hotel came to fetch us from the station and was punctual. Our room included a traditional Japanese dinner, but they also had steak which you need to order prior to your arrival. If I knew, I would have done that although the Japanese dinner was very nice. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and will highly recommend this hotel.

We booked this place because of the positive reviews and close location to Oouchijuku. The onsen ryokan area is off the main road and it was difficult to find the small road into the area. We were warmly welcomed by the matron and quickly shown to our room. The room was clean, heating was from the onsen heat, not too warm and very comfortable. The matron told us they are doing their best to offer ryokan grade service although they are a minshuku (guest house) and not a ryokan (hotel) which we noticed was true. It's great that you can enjoy the outside bath all day. Many ryokans close their baths from midnight to early morning. Because they have only a handful of rooms the baths are not crowded. Dinner was composed of local delicacies including fried river fish, more than enough to satisfy your appetite. Breakfast is also based on local food and is lighter than in a ryokan. Perhaps too light for those with a hearty appetite. I would grade this minshuku overall as comfortable and good value for money. I advise that 1. credit cards are not accepted 2. No hot water is available in the room so you have to go out and use hot water at the wash basin in the public bath 3. you need to bring your own toothpaste, razors and combs.

We stayed two nights at Kabokunoyado and used it as a base for hiking in the Oze National Park (which is beautiful, and well worth the visit). The staff were unfailingly polite and helpful. Food was plentiful and fresh. Our room, for a family of four, stayed in one room which was spacious and tastefully decorated. The baths were well maintained, and although the water was slightly too hot, left us all feeling relaxed. The inn is on the main road but we couldnt hear a thing except the river which flows nearby.

I really enjoyed stays this small comfortable hotel, with nice wine, pizza, pasta etc., it exceed my expectation. If you will have a chance to go Takatue Ski area, you should try there.
