I have just come back from a business trip to Nouakchott, this was my first experience at Azalai Hotel, after a 24 hour journey to get there, i was picked up by the hotel shuttle and this was great, however upon arriving at the reception myself and three other guests had to wait for over an hour to be allocated rooms, the front desk is a disaster and they were very rude and arrogant with us particularly one Gentlemen who i will not name, i heard many others having suffered the same over the few days i was there. I have since got back home and wrote to them for a print out of my receipt for the room and the same Gentleman refuses to send it. The buffet food is also not up to standard and does not reflect a 4 star. Otherwise the rooms and wifi are good.

A surprise find on TripAdvisor with lots of good reviews so I booked this hotel during my visit. As what other comments mentioned it is a great boutique hotel located in the center of Nouakchott. The room is big, clean, a bit of luxurious European deco and the bed is comfortable. The rate is also decent as well. If I come to Nouakchott again in the future, I will stay here again.

Welcome you in a pleasant picture frame and provides a luxurious accommodation located in the center of Nouakchott and at only 10 minutes to the airport and the beach, you will appreciate the hearty welcoming as well as the comfort of our new residence with air-conditioner and equipped apartments.
So this place tries very hard. They are a pleasant staff, they want to help with the wifi problems, the light problems, and the hard beds. But only money and investment can fix some problems. The rooms are quiet as long as no one is moving around and there are no noises from outside. The bed is rock hard. Let me emphasize that: rock hard. The restaurant has a limited menu, and its pretty simple. But to close on a positive note, the staff is very friendly, and their facade of security is entertaining...

Friendly guest house, situated close to the french Embassy, in a quiet and secure neighborhood .
I arrived late at night and the reception was very good. My room was huge and very clean with c;ean sheet and towels. The bathroom was clean and had both a bathtub and shower with hot water. Staff were helpful and gave advice on many issues, shoping, touring, restaurants. One has to place an order for lunch and dinner and the food takes a long time to be prepared. The two days i ate dinner, the food was very good. Moaquitoes can be a menace in the seating area outside.

Booked online as this hotels had good reviews. Can only assume the people that wrote those reviews got the address wrong and stayed in a different hotel. Room was not cleaned, rubbish still in the bin from previous guests. Tea/coffee not replenished. Felt dirty. Breakfast was disgusting. They had two hot dishes but one was gone by the time i got there and never refilled. Complained to management but they did nothing about it. Dont know how hygenic any of it was. Poor standards, would never stay again. I did like the outdoor seating and they had Lipton Tea !

First thing to know is that this is still listed on many maps as Hotel Semiramis HMJ. Some maps even show both hotels across from each other. But the Best is a rebranding, in the same spot, on the south side of Avenue de L'hotel Halima. It is very clean and nice; rooms are somewhat small but pretty. Dine-in breakfast is very good. But we were recently at the Semiramis Centre Ville and that property is just a little bit nicer in about every way [Faster internet, bigger rooms, nicer street parking.] and has a somewhat higher rack rate to reflect this.

Hotel Dar E Monotel Barka is located in front of the Embassy of France in the district Ambassades. It's a 15 minute drive from Nouakchott international airport and 10 minutes from the plage. It has 59 airconditioned rooms, free Wi-Fi, a restaurant, a bar, 4 conference rooms for your meetings and seminars, an outdoor pool and a private parking. Extra's: Its exceptional location opposite the Embassy of France and nearby EuropeanUnion and is the most secure hotel in Nouakchott.
Thick layer of dust on top of everything. Leaking water hose to toilet. One small leg towel. One mosquito was already in a room. Apart from there the hotel close to French embassy- must be a bit more secured. There is an open swimming pool, but due to COVID restrictions I didn’t swim.

We paid 60 euros for a standard room. This is discounted as it was booked by our Tour Operator, the normal charge is 80 euros. Aircon was cold though there's no button to control the temperature so sometimes it actually gets too cold. There is hot shower but pressure is too weak and flush works once then you have to wait for 20 minutes or so. Wifi does not work at all in the rooms and super slow in the common areas where it's supposed to work. Room is quite small but sufficient. It is centrally located close to pharmacies, supermarkets, and a few restaurants. We ate dinner at the restaurant assuming they would be of better quality but we were very disappointed. We ordered a marinated chicken with Basmati rice and what we got was nothing close. It was a grilled chicken probably from the day before, that was recooked over some very oily sauce. The waiter asked us what we want with it which confused us because it said specifically in the menu it came with Basmati rice. Anyway, it came with rice (but not Basmati). We also saw he left the bread on the counter out in the open for at least 30 minutes before serving to us and some flies were all around it. There's a lot of flies in Mauritania but we had hoped this hotel would have better hygiene standards. Breakfast was basic (rolls, croissant, some mixed fruits and yogurt) and again we saw another waiter touching the bread to remove some crumbs or something. Again touching food is very normal in Mauritania, you'd be shocked how they pass along the bread, with lots of people touching it before it gets to you or how it gets left out in the open in the shops with hundreds of flies around it, but again, we thought hotel standards would be different. Lastly, the receptionist was unfortunately not receptive at all. When we ask questions, he would stare and mumble that we have to ask again. I'm sure he's a very nice guy and could be because of the language barrier as we don't speak French but unfortunately, because of this, we didn't feel quite welcome and comfortable. We had to cut our stay short and left after 1 night because of all the factors mentioned. We found a full apartment (4x the size) with kitchen and all so we can finally cook our own food, with washing machine, TV with English channels, fast wifi, etc... for 100 euros for 3 nights just a few hundred meters away from this hotel and even more we can say that this hotel is not worth it. Again, we did not book this hotel, it was booked by our tour operator and based on the reviews here, it's likely they have partnerships with tour operators in NKC and one of the reasons they get booked.

The Auberge Diaguili provides relaxed accommodation in a pleasant part of Nouakchott. The rooms are a good size, the bed was comfortable and everything was kept spotlessly clean. Continental breakfast is served every morning and a good dinner was available four nights per week. There is a kitchen available and you can make tea and coffee at any time. No TV in the room but there is one in the communal lounge. The manager, Pascal, was very helpful. Free WiFi worked fine, but was sometimes a bit slow in the evenings. The Auberge is popular with french-speaking visitors.

I can't say enough great things about Jeloua. I arrived there for the last few days of my time in Mauritania and I was ready for a little comfort, and I found it here. The hotel is so pretty. My room was lovely and had a private bathroom with a bathtub, which felt like heaven. The house itself is cute and has the nicest front garden yard/restaurant were I ate and enjoyed evenings and mornings. The restaurant there is considered one of the best in the city and the food I had there was good. The staff and owner were so nice and helpful and assisted me with arranging a car to a covid testing place, a car to the airport, and getting my laundry done. The wifi was excellent. The location was good. lots of restaurants and shops were within walking distance and I was able to walk to the city centre as well, though Jeloua itself is on a quiet street. I loved it there and would definitely recommend it.
