Overall, I was satisfied with my stay at Chisun Inn. The hotel was easy to drive to and they had plenty of parking. Check in/out was easy and straight forward. This hotel reminded me of ones in the United States, it lacked a lot of the Japanese charm I enjoy in other hotels. But I was surprised by the rooms, they were spacious and had some of the traditional touches. I did not have breakfast here, but right across the street was a great cozy restaurant that I recommend trying. No complaints, I had a nice one night stay.

I think, this hotel is the largest and the most excellent in Marugame city. However, the location is on the seashore area in Marugame city and a little far from the JR Marugame station. There is a public bus from JR Marugame St., but the bus service is not so frequent. I recommend to use a taxi from the station. The speciality of this hotel is that in front of this hotel there is a boat race field like a horse race track. Depending on the schedule, you may bet the boat race there. There is a large public bath, from which the view is very nice. This public bath is another specialty of this hotel, I think. During my stay, many foreign sightseeing people seemed to stay in this hotel. So, I expect that it is good for foreigners to stay here.

My wife and I have been there in winter. It's the perfect season for having onsen bath. Public bath area is spacious and decent, but better not to go in peak hour, a bit too many people makes you not willing to stay longer. Room is a bit old but good enough with its reasonable price. Buffet dinner comes with the room package. A variety of foods served, like crab legs, sushi, udon, and chicken soup. One thing I'm not happy is too many people dining together but the area is a bit cramped. If you've 2 to 3 days stay there, it's worth to spend half-day and a night time to visit the theme park next to hotel. The light and water show start at 7pm shouldn't be missed. Also, don't forget to check out the discounted ticket at hotel reception for one and a half-day admission.

Stayed here two nights for business and had no major issues. First night I was given a smoking room even though we booked for non-smoking. The front desk understood but had no rooms available that night, but they moved me to non-smoking the next day and moved my bags for me (with permission of course). Appreciated the good service. Bed was comfortable and the room was clean. Free WiFi accessible from the rooms was a big plus. The buffet was decent, but some interesting items for sure and it was different each day. One day it was great, the next not so great. Overall I would stay here again as the location was good. If you're a runner, it's about a 40-minute run round trip to the Marugame Castle from here.

This was the only hotel we booked through Jalan for our most recent 6 week trip. We had attempted to book the hotel through their Japanese language website but we ran into trouble. An email to hotel took care of the potential for double booking and we were reassured that our reservation was in good order. We stayed for three nights. The entrance to the hotel is up one flight of stairs. It’s about a 10 minute walk from the JR station. When we arrived with our rolling suitcases in tow, we used the lower level elevator in the car park to gain access to the lobby. This entrance is not always available, but is necessary when hauling luggage. We had a 30 square meter non-smoking room on the tenth floor. On the hotel’s website the room was described as a twin relax room with castle view. The room was huge: if it had higher ceilings we could play tennis in there. The furniture was over-sized and not well organized but we moved it around, tucked the massage chair in an alcove and put the chairs by the window so we could enjoy the castle view. The massage chair was a giant hideous object that took up loads of space - my husband tried the massage and actually found it quite painful. We thought about asking them to remove the chair but figured they’d have no place to store it and we weren’t sure we could make our request understood. The carpet had seen better days and the sofa upholstery was a bit worn - the room looked as if it could use a renovation, but it was otherwise comfortable. Wired internet was fast and reliable. There was a full sized closet in the room. All the usual suspects for amenities were provided and placed on the floor of the closet in a basket - at first we couldn’t find the yukatas, the towels, the extra toilet paper etc but then spotted the basket containing everything necessary for our stay. There was excellent loose tea in a caddy along with a pot for boiling water and a working refrigerator for our purchases from the supermarket. The staff had only a little English, but we were able to communicate our needs and get results (how do we operate the the air filter? how do we get more heat? we need more towels…) The staff was very eager to please and was very accommodating. Breakfast was included in our plan and was quite good; each day the multi-course Japanese breakfast was different. I noticed some people eating curry rice, but we were given a full Japanese breakfast each morning. Coffee was available in the lobby and was welcome after a long day of site-seeing. There were several small restaurants a short walk away from the hotel which were very convenient for dinner.

Super easy to find, the place was very clean, and the bed comfy and warm. It's a roomy wooden box type bed, with a curtain to get in. They have small a locker too. Plugs are available in there to charge up your phone, etc... The staff is friendly and had some good tips to go eat some super tasty udon! You are not far from the castle, and some old shopping street. The donkihotte is not far too on the way to the castle. The hot water takes like 5 minutes to get to the shower, so you might want to let it run a bit beforehand ;)

Hotel
Rooms are smallish but are very comfortable. The staff has a few English speaking agents and they are all friendly and helpful. It is about a 10 minute walk from the Marugame train station. The sidewalks are rather worn so it is rough on your luggage wheels. The Marugame Castle park is about 5-10 minutes’ walk. Lots of izakayas in the neighborhood for evening meals and drinks.
