Relaxing stay with beautiful views!

Reviewed By 795katiek

We stayed for five nights with a three year old and 7 month old baby. Both our children were sick when we arrived and Jacques was very helpful in getting a doctor to our room within hours of arriving. The pool was clean and we loved swimming in it every day. The food was delicious and the we loved how the menu changed each day. They also did a wonderful job accommodating our vegetarian taste. Mont Passot is nearby and our three year old liked the tuk-tuk ride on the way up. Great place to relax and move slowly. :)

Even during the rainy season

Reviewed By AvaDinoMom

This place exceeded my expectations! The staff went above and beyond for every request. Even though it was the rainy season, we still had the best vacation. The rooms are clean and well appointed. There’s plenty of space between the villas, so you feel like you are on the island alone. But, if you don’t want to be alone, the staff is always available to assist with anything you might need. I felt safe and relaxed the whole time I was there. The beach is stunning and the diving is the best for biodiversity. Hiking the island provided for a good workout and amazing views. I just can’t say enough good things about the resort and the staff! They have made Madagascar one of my top 5 places in the world to travel.

Hotel Gerard et Francine

For the team of the Hotel Gerard and Francine in Nosy Be, Madagascar, reception is an art and you will be received with all of our attention, treated like family; for you we offer a comfortable atmosphere, our reputation for this style of work is irrefutable and has been for the last 25 years in Nosy Be. It is a charming establishment made of modern, cozy, clean guest rooms; snuggle up between the Crater cliffs, the long beach of Ambatoloaka and its lagoon. More than the charm of the hotel here is the charm of an extraordinary garden on one of the most beautiful beaches of the Indien Ocean where you can watch the sunset. It is on this beach, each day, that the Hotel Gerard & Francine was constructed in 1988 amongst the tropical flower gardens and the palms where we enjoy the company of freedom, lemurs, hummingbirds, chameleons. One particular area of attention is providing the decoration of your rooms, using typical Malagasy architecture, traditional construction with wood floors and creole ceilings. Suggested thoughts before your visit here: The sexual tourism is an attack on human dignity, condemned by Malagasy law and International law and the Hotel Gerard et Francine does not tolerate any such violations.

Garden Oasis in a Strange Village

Reviewed By Eric R

The garden at G&F is tremendous, and the breakfast offered yummy mango and pineapple jam. I had the impression the bill included breakfast, but the hotel applied extra charges at check-out. Also, the food was très French--heavy on the carbs. The bartender, Usa, makes an excellent mojito though. While most staff were friendly, my travel speaker was stolen out of my room when I went to the beach. Luckily, I used the hotel safe for other valuable items. The owner and manager were pretty ambivalent and dismissive of the loss which was quite disappointing. Theft has the tendency to make you paranoid and feel vulnerable. At the same time, even though the town had some excellent dining options, the village is absolutely overrun with older European men exploiting younger Malagasy women or to be honest, vice versa. If you are not into sex tourism (or some sort of related theme), you are an outlier in Ambotoloaka. I would highly suggest staying further up the western coast of the island and visiting the town for a nice meal.

Family-owned French & Malagasy hotel created in 2005, furniture is a combination between local tradition and international modernity. The park is full of bird and vegetal species which is part of our success for nature lovers. Buildings are incorporated in this surrounding which makes us "an oasis at the gates of Antananarivo".

A comfortable and well located hotel

Reviewed By vingre

My wife and I spent one night at Le Relais des Plateaux on the way to Antsiranana/Diego Suarez. Our stay was very short as we arrived late from the Air France flight and left very early. However, it was enough to take note that Le Relais des Plateaux is a very good option for a stay in Antananarivo. The shuttle waited for us at the terminal. As our flight was leaving very early in the morning the driver agreed to take us to the hotel without waiting for the last passengers to come which was a nice attention. Check-in was fast and efficient. The room was very spacious - so was the bathroom - clean and comfortable. As we had to leave the hotel at 4:00 AM a breakfast box had been prepared to our attention. I definitely recommend Le Relais des Plateaux for a stay in Antananarivo, especially to those who have to remain in the vicinity of the airport.

A piece of paradise

Stayed here for 3 nights and loved everything about the place. I was really looking forward to staying here and was not disappointed. The location and facilities are beautiful, with amazing views and friendly staff. The food was delicious and I was very impressed to see a vegetarian and a vegan menu alongside the wide range of other choices. The dining area was beautiful, with an outside area overlooking the bay along with inside seating and bar area. The hotel has a lovely salt water infinity pool which was a treat, looking out across the sea. The other pool was very clean and had loungers around it but I didn't go in so couldn't comment more. The massage was great, up the hill in a little hut overlooking the beach- a nice treat! There was a problem with our booking and we got upgraded to the lodge- stunning!!! Bathroom was incredible and the twin room beautiful, could not fault it. The staff were very friendly and helpful and helped to organise the day trip to swim with whale sharks. It really lived up to my expectations, and I would love to go back and stay again, would highly recommend.

Nice boutique-style hotel in Antananarivo ??

Reviewed By vingre

My wife and I spent 3 nights at Hotel Sakamanga on a trip to Madagascar. The hotel had been recommended to us as one of the Antananarivo's best hotels and we were not disappointed. Located in a narrow street in the city center the hotel spreads across several buildings in a complex layout of small patios and corridors with a swimming pool in the center. It is decorated with local art works and memorabilia that give it an air of a boutique hotel. Our room (number 225), a Luxury room on the second room, was extremely spacious looking more like a junior suite. Wall paintings would need a refresher in some places but the room was clean, well appointed and quiet as was the whole hotel which is rather surprising given the heavy traffic in the front street. We had dinner once at the restaurant and food was very good, well prepared and relying on fresh local products. Breakfast is served in the nearby bakery belonging to the hotel and was also very good with plenty of options from the bakery's menu (salad, pastries, omelets, ...). Given all the hotel's strong points I have no hesitation to recommend Hotel Sakamanga for a stay in Antananarivo.
