It's no wonder Machu Picchu is Peru's most-visited site. Dating to the mid-1400s, it's a marvel of mortar-free limestone architecture perched on a high plateau deep in the Amazonian jungle. Get there via train from Cusco or, if you're not faint-hearted, make the trip on foot via a multi-day hiking trail—you'll travel through deep Andean gullies and enjoy stunning views.

At the entrance to the Sanctuary of Machu Picchu, alongside the sacred Vilcanota River, at the base of the mighty mountains, among trees and orchids that shelter the most beautiful birds. The sound of the river, the singing of the birds and the wind moving through the trees. This is Casa del Sol, where you will be received and attended to with all of the warmth and heart of Peru making you feel welcome.
We stayed 1 night at the Casa Del Sol during our trip to Machu Picchu. We had an amazing time! The room was comfortable and the staff were all very accommodating and friendly. Rodolfo worked in the rest and he was so hospitable. He took great care of us after a long day of hiking and sightseeing. Def stay here if you are planning a visit to Agua Calientes!

SUMAQ - Sumaq Machu Picchu Hotel is a family hotel with ample experience in the luxury hospitality business in the country. Experience that makes Sumaq a hotel dedicated entirely to its guests. In addition to its exclusive service, it offers a privileged location in the Machu Picchu historic sanctuary, on the banks of the Vilcanota River near the main tourist attractions. The Aguas Calientes train station is just a ten-minute walk away, and we provide bus service from the door of the hotel to and from Machu Picchu for our guests. Highlights: •Privileged location: Staying at Sumaq means enjoying Machu Picchu’s most beautiful landscapes, where you will find lush vegetation, enormous mountains, valleys, the Vilcanota River, a waterfall and ancient trails. •Creative cuisine: Enjoy our exclusive haute cuisine that features traditional Peruvian dishes prepared with exotic ingredients from southern Peru. •Passion for service: Our staff is the main element that gives Sumaq a warm and friendly atmosphere, with attention to your needs. •Co-existence with the local culture: Immerse yourself in the outdoor activities prepared especially for you, in which you will experience the authentic traditions of our neighboring communities. •Support for sustainability: Sumaq guides its staff and guests in its mission to protect the environment and the social setting. Our sustainable practices have been verified by the Rainforest Alliance.
As I organize trips to Cuzco and Machu Picchu 4 or 5 times a year, I always do a due diligence by visiting the hotels first. I have been using the Sumaq hotel for more than one reason; quality of services, spacious and well decorated rooms and the service at check-in and check-out. Usually I prefer to have the meals at the hotel, rather than at the hotel by the ruins. I particular do not like a buffet lunch prepared for hundreds of visitors, but I rather select meal from the menu. Take it from a professional, I strongly recommend Sumaq Hotel in the quaint village of Aguas Calientes, located at the bottom of the Citadel of Machu Picchu. Rosa, the administrator runs a perfect organization where service is a number one priority for all their clients. Carlos L. Fida, CTC

This enchanting Andean village hotel is located within 12.3 acres of pristine cloud forest. The spectacular grounds are laced with paths that wind past waterfalls and trails, and organic gardens that wander through the misty forest. A place to relax, while exploring nature and encountering the wonders of the Incan civilization, experiencing authentic travel.
Definitely stay here if you want to get covid as at least 2 people in my group did. There is absolutely no social distancing. The dining room is hundreds of people at once and lunch is a smaller space that is also tight. In addition, for the price of this hotel it was very disappointing to have a room that was only mostly clean and smelled musty. The pool was dirty and the the hot tub wasn't hot. I'd try a different hotel.

Casa Andina Classic Machu Picchu is the ideal choice for those travelers who want to experience Machu Picchu in its entirety. Its strategic location in Aguas Calienes, closest access point to Machu Picchu, at the side of the train tracks from Aguas Calientes, will allow guests to start their visit to the citadel early in the morning and stay there until night.
We were greeted by the staff from this hotel and walked a bit from the train station. Check in was easy, with a smile. We had a room facing the river, Wow, what a view!! The room was spacious and clean. Romualdo was always helpful with a smile. Even after checked out, we came back after lunch to wait for our train and stayed in their lobby comfortably with wifi & helped ourselves with drinks.

Our NEW Hotel Susanna Inn lies at the feet of one of the Seven Modern World Wonders, Machu Picchu! Beautifully designed and traditionally appointed, our 3-star hotel rooms are among the most well-lit and spacious in Aguas Calientes. Susanna Inn offers breathtaking views of the natural Peruvian heritage, rich and varied breakfast buffet for all tastes and hot coca teas in cosy surroundings. Within 3 walking minutes to the bus or train station, high quality furnitures and attentive staff, we provide the perfect base for world travellers. IDEAL FOR THOSE SEEKING COMFORT AND COSY AMBIANCE!
I chose this Inn because it was a more affordable option than where my friends chose to stay. It’s at the end of town which is conveniently right where the train drops you off (and still only 5 minutes from the town center). The room was spacious and clean, and exactly what you’d want after a long day of exploring Machu pichu. With my group setting a firm 5:25am bus rendezvous, I was a bit worried about getting breakfast served in time. We sat at 5am, had fresh squeezed orange juice, coffee, bread with butter and jam, Peruvian granola with yoghurt and fruit salad. Followed by scrambled eggs and tostados. We were out by 5:20 and got to see our sunrise!
