MOXY Ludwigshafen

Difficult parking but good river location

Reviewed By CleopatraBunny

If you’ve stayed at a Moxy before, you know to expect a tiny bare-bones room. Not outfitted for business travel (desk is only good for holding a couple items), but your basic amenities are present. Eco-friendly soap and shower gel, small but functional shower unit. Get an odd-numbered room for a great view of the Rhein River. The Rhein Galerie with shops is across the plaza. As for arrival, there’s no place to pull in to unload luggage. Instead, park in the narrow-space garage directly above the gas station to the south of the hotel. You need a tiny car for this garage. 7 euro overnight and a bl GK walk dragging your bags. You can also park in the underground Rhein Galerie garage for 15 euro. For dinner, try Pizzeria la Torre da Angelo a few blocks away. Great neighborhood spot.

excellent rooms, top service, fantastic breakfast, free parking and a nice park nearby. Actually a business hotel but also catering to leisure visitors for fantastic prices. Only thing that could be better would be the choice of dinner options, but I guess most business guest go out for dinner.

Großes und modernes Zimmer - super Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis

Reviewed By ingoh427

Alles in allem: jederzeit gerne wieder! Besonders wenn ich beruflich bei einem großen Chemiebetrieb in der Nähe tätig bin.....

Good value

I stayed in this hotel for two nights. I requested a quiet room that was not looking over the road, so to avoid noise, and they gave me one that was looking at an internal patio, extremly calm (windows are also soundproof). The room had 4 beds. It was quite clean. Very few shelves, in case this room was occupied by 4 people. The bathroom had enough towels, excellent liquid soap and hairdryer. No shampoo, no shower cap, just the basics. Good duvet blanket. There was also cable TV. As I arrived late in the night, I did the check in the automatic machine without having trouble. You enter the room using a code, so no need to manage keys. My only concern with the hotel: the security. I arrived at 12am and the two entrance doors were opened. Anybody could enter and climb to the rooms... Few staff in the reception and in the breakfast room. I was wondering that perhaps a little bit too expensive, taking into account that they have few staff and they provide just basic service. The rooms have no electric kettle nor fridge.

I would give it a 4.5 b/c of the required keypad only check in entry

There was a challenge on arrival as there was no one there and no way to access. Called the number on the door. The information was sent to my US phone and that SIM card is not in my phone. I provided my german number in the reservation. Once I gained access to the building it was a fantastic oasis in an industrial like area of town. There are walkable dining options but don't miss the breakfast provided by the hotel. It was fantastic. I was extremely impressed with the furnishings, amenity level, security, slept like a king.

This hotel was not what I booked personally, rather it was booked for us by our tour operator and believe me had it not been booked by them, I would have never, never booked this hotel. Infact if there is anything below 1 star rating, maybe a negative star in TA, I would have happily given them that rating. I’ll summarise my experience: 1. The reception had extremely unwelcoming staff, no smile, no greeting nothing, just reluctantly handed over our keys. 2. Room: Room was spacious and carpeted, that’s the good part, but furniture was extremely old, worn out and badly needed a refurb. We were given a room with two separate single beds. Imagine a couple sleeping separately. When we requested a room change they told me over intercom : “you don’t get any better for what you paid”.. I mean is that a joke? 3. Bed: The mattress had completely sagged in the middle, it was very uncomfortable to sleep as the back was not getting any support at all. 4. Washroom: The washroom had broken tiles, and no drain.. NO DRAIN. I mean where is the water supposed to go if it splashes out from the basin. 5. Aircon: There was this horrible aircon machine which was not working at all. On switching it ON it only made a noise like a train running with no ventilation at all. We had to open windows at night and earn mosquito bites as the reception desk did not help us in this matter as well. 6. Checkout: Finally the climax. During check in we were instructed not to wet the floor else a €50 fine would be applicable. I mean who tells this kind of thing. Anyway we were still cautious not to wet the washroom floor as we later realised that they had engineering defect, their washrooms were constructed without a drain. While checkout there was one family who had wet the floor. When it came to notice of the staff, they started shouting and yelling at the family and our tour guide. After that the guy handed over a mop to the father and asked him to clean the toilet. That man had two small daughters who may have spilled water on the floor. Because of that he had to clean the toilet. Imagine the humiliation the father had to face. 7. Interaction with me: I was the first one to hand over the access card while checkout and went straight to have breakfast. My guide came running to me and said that the receptionist had told that he has not received my room key. This was after the incident of the father. When I went to he reception, I saw receptionist talking to a customer in a very friendly tone. When I asked him about the key, he turned a red face towards me and yelled at me at an extremely rude tone: “don’t you see that I am talking to someone? Don’t speak to me unless I am finished “ I mean who talks to a customer like that? Anyway I waited for my turn. Once he was done with the other guy he turned towards me and told me that I have lost my access card and am supposed to pay a fine. Luckily I quickly noticed that my access card was lying just next to him wth the fellow lady receptionist. I pointed it out to him, he took the card and turned away from me. There was no apology for his misbehaviour, even though when he was wrong. My strong recommendation: AVOID THIS HOTEL AT ALL COST.

Comfortable stay

Reviewed By tapopriya c

The hotel is located just next to the highway, just a turn away. Hotel is not very big but there was something always good about it. The initial greeting, quick key handover and the cleanliness were noticeable. Our room was on the first floor and was very clean and thatwould include the toilet too. The entire floor had a carpet and bed was kingsize but a little short in height. The mattress was comfortable too. Wifi was complimentary and good to surf. I liked it overall. Breakfast has scope for improvement though.

Excellent central location and great staff, facilities a little out of date

Reviewed By Jbl R

The staff were really friendly and helpful - top marks to them. The location is excellent, very near the local railway station and the main buses and trams. Very comfortable bed with a firm mattress. Nice and warm, and plenty of hot water too. It's quite old-fashioned (though that's not bad in itself), and would benefit from more modern facilities. I was in a room at the back, so there was no noise from outside, but there's no soundproofing within the hotel. I don't know if my room was unique, but there was no bath, so showering was the only option, and the shower was weird - no shower curtain or screen, which meant one had to be very careful not to get the entire room wet. Just not a comfortable way to get clean!

Astonishingly good value

Reviewed By StraightTalker28

I seem to be the first person writing about this hotel since July 2018 which seems a shame because there is nothing fundamentally wrong with it. It is extremely basic (my single room contained a single bed, a single pillow, a desk, a chair, a couple of lamps, a TV, a fan, four walls and a ceiling) but, no safe, extra pillows or air conditioning. That last point was a particular problem since my visit coincided with the heatwave that spread across Europe. Oh, it also had an unbelievably powerful shower. i have used car washes with less pressure. The breakfast room looked like a school canteen, the whole place was eerily quiet and the fixtures and fittings had not been updated since at least the 1980s. Nothing was dirty or broken, it was just old. I chose Heinrich Pesch because it was very cheap and I was in the area for the weekend to attend the German Grand Prix in Hockenheim and I had a car so didn't mind the 25 minute drive to the circuit. In this respect, the hotel was excellent. Apart from the room being like a sauna, it was big enough for one person, the WiFi was excellent, breakfast plentiful, car park huge and fairly secure, staff helpful and place itself easy to find. They even threw a barbecue one night which wasn't bad either, even if the meat desperately needed seasoning. All of this for around €220 for three nights I think is astonishingly good value. If I attend the race again and have a rental car, I would definitely consider this hotel if everything closer was very expensive. It's one of the most basic hotels I have frequented for a very long time, but it did what I wanted to absolutely perfectly.
