The Balmacara Hotel is situated on the shores of Lochalsh, with constantly changing views over the sea to Skye. Perfectly situated to explore this breathtakingly beautiful part of Scotland, the hotel is approx. 3 miles from Kyle of Lochalsh, the Skye Bridge, and Eilean Donan Castle. The Hotel enjoys an outstanding location for touring and provides an ideal leisure break destination.
Where do you start with this hotel, the 'mountain view' was a view of VW campers, the toilet seat was broken as was the towel hook. There were no terrestrial TV channels available and the phone signal and Wifi were poor. You couldn't fill the kettle as the sink was long and thin and so i ended up using the tiny glass. Regarding the food the selection was mainly steaks and burgers type fair, the breakfast i had was overcooked but with cold mushrooms, although the staff were friendly and efficient. The room was a reasonable size and had been redecorated but the tiled floor was more suited to Southern Europe. I probably wouldn't have written a review if this had been an £80 a night room but at £250 it should have been much much better. One last point i wasn't happy to see my personal details on a sheet on the check in desk for everyone to see when i arrived.

We had a wonderful 2 night stay at The Dornie Hotel, lovely staff, very helpful and attentive The rooms are clean, yes a little outdated and a few things need doing to them but with the new owners I'm sure it will be done soon. But it is an old building after all. We slept well on the comphy beds and the breakfast was amazing. We will be staying again.

Situated in the heart of the small Highland town of Lochalsh, the Kyle Hotel is ideal for those seeking a memorable Scottish stay. There is much to see and do in the nearby area, such as visiting the stunning Isle of Skye and the famous Cuillin Hills. Dining is available in the excellent à la carte restaurant, which serves a fine selection of freshly prepared dishes with seafood a specialty. For a more casual atmosphere, the hotel's bar offers a wide selection of bar meals and snacks throughout the day. The Kyle Hotel is ideally situated for touring the Highlands of Scotland, as well as the Isle of Skye which is only a few minutes away. There is so much to see and do, you will want to return time and time again.
A fuss free stay in an area where decent accommodation and food can be hard to find. The staff were very friendly and helpful, if a little eccentric, but that all added to the experience. Our room was of very high quality and huge! I think we got the best the hotel had to offer as some of the other rooms we spied during cleaning looked much more modest. Dinner was ok, but there was virtually no other choice without driving some distance, so we were a captive market. Breakfast was excellent and served quickly and efficiently.

The hotel was fantastic and clean. Host couldn’t do enough for you and was great fun. Wonderful decking with views where we sat and ate our takeaway winding down after a long day driving. Breakfast lovely with great 80’s music to sing along to. Definitely recommended

We stayed here for a couple of nights and our hosts Roy and Kate were superb. Our room and bathroom were absolutely spotless with everything we needed. Each evening we arrived back from dinner we were greeted warmly and asked how our evening had been. Breakfast was really excellent, especially enjoyed the porridge Kate and the cooked breakfast was good too. Thank you so much.

Don't be put off by the lack of reviews as the owner relies on booking.com and not TripAdvisor, that being said this B and B is simply beyond compare and excellent in every way. The owner Tim was quite honestly the nicest most genuine person I've had the pleasure to meet. In essence the B and B guests stay in the owners main house and have full use of the living area and conservatory and the owners stay in an annexe across the way. The house and room was warm and welcoming and the breakfast was great. Situated on a farm and I will definitely look at anywhere else to stay when I return which we will. Thankyou Tim and Lilly for the best stay ever.

This is the nicest bed and breakfast we have stayed in. We where lucky enough to be put up in their beautiful annex which has all the space you could need with a good size living room fully equiped kitchen with washing machine and dish washer nice bedroom and clean and spacious shower room. Breakfast was great Donna is a really good cook with home made bread and jams fruit from her garden and scotish smoked salmon to die for. To find the house once you have passed the sign welcome to Glenelg stay on that road. ignore your satnav it will take you to the wrong house. Balcraggie is about 20ft before the sign that says Glenelg earth twinned with Glenelg Mars. you can't miss it

Highly recommend this as a base to explore the Highlands. Accommodation was excellent value for money - no frills but roomy, good kitchen facilities for self-catering and the owners had made the beds for us on arrival, which was an unexpected but welcome surprise! Pet friendly (we took our three dogs) and great pool room for the kids when the weather wasn’t great. Glenelg village is lovely and only a scenic 30 minute walk from the chalets. If we’re ever back here wouldn’t hesitate to book this accommodation again.
