The newly refurbished Castle Hotel in Llandovery has recently been reopened, by the small family run business, Taste Inn Wales owned and managed Sean Gerrard, Glyn and Jessica Bridgeman. The rooms, lovingly refurbished and their interior is honest, friendly and welcoming to all. Whether you are planning an outdoor activity break on the mountains, water, or in the air, our facilities are ideally suited to help you rest, recharge and recover. The bar and restaurant serve high quality local produce, cooked simply and beautifully.
Popped in for a meal and had reservations from the start due to the tired state of the place. But the reviews were pretty average on Google so ordered a lasagne and the gammon with chips cooked in beef dripping and crushed minted peas. The lasagne was burnt and inedible. The chips were overcooked in fat that was well past its best. The gammon although a passable steak was cooked in the same fat which gave it a sour taste and the peas seemed like they had been hanging about for a while and were dried out Would not recommend eating in this establishment .

Once the home of the Bank of the Black Ox, the Kings Head in Llandovery is a traditional coaching inn with a history that dates back to the 17th century.Nooks and crannies, crooked floors and exposed beams together with great food and refurbished bed and breakfast accommodation, make the Kings Head the perfect modern day coaching inn and the preferred choice of many; including tourists, commuters and even members of the Royal Household.Overlooking the cobbled market square, our location is simply superb. In the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park, you’ll find us just off the A40, half way between the Eastern borders of Wales and the ferry ports in the West. But it isn’t just our location that keeps regulars and visitors coming back for more. Mouth watering food, a selection of great ales and a true Welsh welcome all await you at the Kings Head in Llandovery.
We could not have wished for better hosts. It is such a welcoming hotel, and they even loved our Bassett Hound, Humphrey. Lovely clean and spacious room in a fabulous location. The bar and restaurant are is very comfortable with a lot of character, in fact the entire hotel offers much character and history. We are looking forward to our next visit ?

We spent 1 week in this accommodation to explore the whole of South Wales via day trips from here. The hotel is centrally located in the village centre with a large and convenient public car park just a 3 minutes walk away. Our room "The Lodge" was large, spacious, quiet and clean at all times. The small menu of vegetarian/vegan food in the pub was incredibly tasty, very appealing and served quickly. The staff definitely went the extra mile and made us feel very welcome at all times. We can heartily recommend this accommodation unconditionally.

This farm nestled in the hills has wonderful views, soothing silence and great food. We were there with our car club to do a couple of days touring mainly the back roads of the area. At times it feels as if you are on a rollercoaster on the narrow up and down lanes. As we had pre war and classic cars the family have planned routes to cater for us. We had three days of sunshine, thus allowing to admire the scenery at its springtime best. The farm is well run by a family, everything is well organised and nothing is too much trouble. Super, nicely presented food. This is a great place for groups to gather.

Just had a great four night stay at the Royal Oak. Room clean and comfortable with all we needed. Breakfast was freshly cooked and all you wanted. We ate every evening at the pub and were perfectly happy with all our meals. The steak pie is especially worth a mention, with large chunks of tender beef. As with most hostelries at the moment staffing can be a problem but Steve, the landlord, did his best to oblige with anything out of the ordinary. Have to say the young lady waiting on the tables is a gem, always with a smile on her face which you don’t always get these days with the young! Would certainly stay again at the Royal Oak .

Short version: Great cottage, excellent location lovely owners and a hot tub with gorgeous views. Totally perfect! Long version: we stayed here for a week in June and absolutely loved it. Marian and Arwyn were very welcoming and helpful hosts and the cottage itself is done to an excellent standard. Fully equipped with everything you'd need, the showers are strong and hot, beds comfortable and good kitchen. The views from the main room and the garden are just beautiful, and you can wander down to the river (past the Welsh black cows). Then there is the hot tub! It's amazing after a day of hiking and so relaxing to watch the sunset from there. The location is very good for exploring the Brecon Beacons or Carmarthenshire (we also drove down to the beautiful Gower beaches on one day). Nearby Llandovery has a good supermarket and we really liked Llandeilo (which is a little further away). Was such a great place to stay after the long year of lockdowns. Would love to come back.
