History reigns in Lincoln, where Roman ruins, medieval monuments, and a Norman castle can be found within steps of each other. Even the modern trappings of this student city feel nostalgic—cobbled lanes harbor independent boutiques, cutesy tea rooms hide behind half-timbered façades, and old warehouses are now cool music venues.

Busy at breakfast time but helpful staff managed the rush well, standard cooked breakfast, it was worth asking for the poached eggs which were perfectly cooked. Clean room and good location. Good shower and not noisy. Well run. Bed was comfortable

Nice b&b, owners very friendly and helpful. Rooms & breakfasts were good. Located about a mile south of the city centre. One point to note is that access to the b&b car park is tight for larger cars, though it would be possible to park elsewhere.

After over 3 hours of driving to get to the hotel. We were told to sign the form upon check in (nothing unusual about that) however later on in the day we’d noticed that the hotel had deducted an extra £100 from the bank on top of the price of the room. When my husband questioned this he was met with a really rude ‘manager’ at reception who told him as he had signed the form upon check in, it allowed them to take £50 deposit per night for room service. If we did not order this it would be refunded upon check out. As we were tired we didn’t read the form properly and we were never told about an extra £100 to be deducted from the bank. It really put a dampener on our stay as we had specifically budgeted for our trip but was then £100 short and left us unable to do a couple of things and to be honest brought the whole mood down. Money is already tight for most people at the moment and we needed a break away that we had saved for and used the last of our wages as a little treat so to then take an extra £100 for no reason at all, and to not even be made aware of this at any point is really bad customer service. We think this should have been made clear upon check in. We checked in on a Thursday and had to wait until Monday for the ‘deposit’ to be returned 2 days after we had checked out. Won’t be staying with Hilton again, our room was ok, nothing special and we had a window that didn’t open and was facing a wall so pointless being there really. To be deducted essentially over £300 for 2 nights leaving us short is nothing short of a joke. I even had to complain to reception at one point as my pillow was covered in make up from a previous traveller when we arrived. This hotel really isn’t worth the money you pay. Will book elsewhere next time and stay somewhere with friendlier staff. Please don’t waste your money here! Esp if you’ve budgeted for your stay because you’ll be £100 short for your trip ‘just incase’ you want any room service.

The Castle Hotel is a luxury standard hotel located at the heart of Lincoln's historic quarter, nestled between the historic castle and magnificent cathedral, offering views of both or the historic surroundings, is the perfect location for both leisure and business guests. Reform restaurant at The Castle Hotel is an award winning restaurant. Serving modern European cuisine in a decadent yet relaxed setting, Wednesday to Sunday, by our award winning head Chef. The Castle Bar is open to all for a few drinks or a quick snack.
First of all, the location of the hotel is excellent, right outside the castle walls and only a short walk away from the cathedral. The service was excellent throughout, and the staff friendly. My room was adequately sized, with a decent wardrobe and sockets in the right places. Also a quite spacious bathroom. What I noticed upon entering the room was that is was exceptionally hot. I was worried whether it might be difficult to sleep and was considering raising this at the reception. But as I was busy getting ready to go out for the evening, I forgot. In the end, I was able to sleep well, although it did stay rather hotter than I would have liked. My main paint point was the fan in the bathroom. It kicked in about 2 minutes after turning on the light, and it was extremely loud. And it kept going for about 5 minutes after switching off the lights again. Breakfast was excellent, with a very good choice. The bar was a bit of a let-down. On my first evening I thought I'd have a night cap and wanted to order a Scotch. The Cotswolds Scotch on the list, however, was not available. When I asked the staff to help with the others that were listed, she didn't seem very knowledgeable, and I then ended up with an Islay Malt, which is actually not to my taste. In her defense, she did openly admit that she didn't know much about whiskies. Fair enough. Parking is available at the rear of the hotel and is free, but spaces are limited and cannot be reserved in advance, so I would recommend to arrive early in order to secure a space. Overall, however, it was a very pleasant stay, and I will most likely choose to stay there again on my next visit to Lincoln.

The Old Palace Lodge sits in the shadow of Lincoln Cathedral in a converted church building. It blends traditional features with modern amenities like flat-screen TVs, mini fridges and espresso machines. Rooms at The Old Palace have modern décor and feature facilities for making tea and coffee. The Old Palace is a 5-minute walk from Bailgate, where guests will find a plethora of independent restaurants and bars. Lincoln Castle, which houses one of the four original copies of the Magna Carta, is a 4-minute walk from The Old Palace.
Great stay, however please do research the tripadvisor comments to make sure that it is the hotel for you as it is small with limited service. Excellent location and great room in a converted church, we stayed in a Deluxe room which was great. Breakfast was a croissant and yoghurt which we knew about in advance (we did not choose the cafe option). My only niggles were lack of choices and the electrics ! We were asked what time we wanted the croissants, however we were not given the choice between marmalade or jam (we got Marmalade which is unusual for a croissant !( The yoghurt was also interesting, one was toffee flavour which is not standard breakfast fare ! However fresh milk and juice in the fridge was great as was the Nespresso machine. The desk did not have enough sockets for both the kettle and the Nespresso machine, let alone a PC and there was no socket next to the fan in the window. However don't stay expecting perfection, just stay if you want a decent room in a great building in a great location and are not expecting large hotel comforts.

For years this was always my go to hotel when working in the area for its convenience, but after my last stay I have sadly had to ditch it. Yes the rooms are a bit dated and the hotel in general, but I actually found that quite charming as it is otherwise clean and beds are comfy, it felt like a trip down memory lane. The gym is dated but in fairness a lot of hotel gyms are. I have stayed here at least 15 times in a 5 year period. The big BUT… I have never eaten here because the entrance post 6pm smells of chip fat and overcooked vegetables. I like a drink in a hotel bar if it’s been a long day but they only have Fosters or John Smiths ? in the strip lit bar I glimpses into last time I stayed. The last three times I stayed, there were lots of contractors sat outside drinking cans of lager. I understand they were paying customers but it doesn’t exactly look inviting on arrival a load of blokes sat outside in high vis drinking cans, smoking and making comments as you walk in. Sad to say I won’t be staying any time soon unless I see an improvement on here as I do like the actual hotel. Just needs bringing into the 21st century!

Cathedral View Guest House is a 12th-century grade 2 listed building in the heart of the Bailgate in the Cathedral Quarter, recently renovated to the highest standard just a stone's throw from the Cathedral.
Right in the heart of Lincoln, fabulous B&B with parking. Excellent breakfast included. We could only stay for 2 nights but enjoyed all the Platinum Jubilee celebrations in this beautiful English city. The location is right next to the castle and the cathedral.

Situated in Lincoln’s Cathedral Quarter, The Tower Hotel is a 3 AA star Hotel and is ideally located for exploring the historical city; either on foot or as a base for visiting the surrounding villages, countryside and attractions.
Never Disappoints. Consistently superb food and service. Varied menu, with Steak Night on a Wednesday where, for two, theres rump steak meal with a bottle of house red or white wine for £40. For another £10 you can order the fillet. Steak is always perfectly cooked and piping hot as are the accompaniments. The service is friendly, polite and efficient. Best restaurant in the centre we reckon, for quality and value for money.

The Duke William Hotel sits in the historic Bailgate area just a short walk from the Castle and the Cathedral. Boasting 9 recently refurbished rooms and a cottage next door, it is an ideal choice for a comfortable, relaxed stay in the beautiful city of Lincoln. Breakfast is included for all bookings. Lunch and dinner is also available in our downstairs cosy pub environment.
We selected the Duke William because it had been a stop for our traveling companions many years ago. It is a pub that has resided at that location since the 1600's and has 9 en-suite rooms. The location is perfect for walking to the main street of the town, Lincoln Castle and Lincoln Cathedral. The rooms were top drawer and the food very good. The staff was pleasant and responsive to our requests. The one concern we had was access to the WiFi amenity. Even though the staff responded to the concern, we were not certain the technical issue was fully addressed/corrected. We all were eventually able to access the system but the situation was frustrating. Overall, it was a very nice stay at a historically valuable property.
