We've stayed here a few times over the last couple of years, and it never disappoints. The staff are all fantastic, so friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. We brought our 2 dogs, one of which is a rescue we've only had for a few weeks and she's very reactive. The staff couldn't have been any more helpful. They reserved the same table in the restaurant for us everyday as they know we feel comfortable there and the dogs are (mainly!) quiet. The rooms are all superb, decorated to a very high standard and extremely clean. The food is just amazing!! And very reasonable. And the service at meal times is outstanding. All the staff know exactly what they're doing, it's like a well oiled machine. Thank you all for another great week away. Can't wait until our next trip in October.

Stayed here as part of a honeymoon. After staying elsewhere it was great to go here in a hot tub suite for 3 nights. The suites are amazing and all the staff are friendly, helpful and know the local area if you want advice on walking or trips. The hotel has a great location close to local bars and restaurants and parking is easy which can not always be said of accommodation in the area. Dinner and breakfast are first class. Also it was the first trip post covid restrictions for me and the work done by the staff in Applegarth puts you at ease. Can't wait to go back !!

A warm welcome awaits at this beautiful Lake District country house hotel. This elegant Victorian building stands proudly in four acres of tended gardens and walkways and enjoys views of the surrounding Lake District fells. Close by is the bustling market town of Keswick, with its eclectic mix of shops, pubs and restaurants. For the adventurous, Lake Derwentwater offers a variety of water sports with numerous walks and mountain bike trails beginning at its shores.
We stayed at the hotel in May 2022. The girl on the desk was very enthusiastic telling us we had been upgraded to a deluxe room. We already knew this. The room was well...... average had a table and chairs in window. The wallpapered ceiling showed glue lines which should have been emulsioned. It was coming off the ceiling by the window and the cornice was crumbling away. Who ever laid the new carpet, it was lumpy. If elderly people tripped over it it was an accident waiting to happen. Ee had to ask for our complimentary bottled water and chocolates. The bar area is lovely, but the staff don't take any pride in cleaning the chairs. They are shocking with stains. God knows what you are sitting on especially when you can take dogs in. Apart from that we can't fault the excellent food. And the staff, who see your needs. Bradley in particular was very good! We did enjoy our stay, and we know the hotel is old. But it's the little things that matter especially when it is expensive.

Where to start, well firstly our overall stay was over 3 nights 4 days. We booked here to celebrate our wedding anniversary and joint birthday s that we hadnt had chance to celebrate. On arrival we where given a free upgrade, this was a lovely gesture by the hotel and we loved the thoughtfulness. Good points, The staff where amazing and couldn't do enough for you unfortunately we didn't catch all of the names but Victoria was extremely helpful as was all staff. The food was also amazing and nice portion sizes. You have the option of dining in the restaurant or the bar area which is nice and bright with beautiful views out of the windows. There is a lounge area with an open log fire that is lovely to sit by in the evening to relax. We used the leisure facilities and booked in with Sharon at Indulgence Beauty Rooms for some pampering, we where not disappointed, she was very accommodating and very good. The hotel has some beautiful views and the grounds are beautiful. The ducks and birds love having the pond and the roof area's to say help to you. Bad points, to be fare it's difficult to write about the bad points because the staff and the hotel stay was overall lovely, but I do believe that if you don't say what is wrong then things won't get fixed. Our room was beautiful with a Jacuzzi bath but unfortunately the jets had to be cleaned out a couple of times before we could use it . The bathroom was massive but had very little storage space or hooks for your personal items and towels, a small set of draws would be really helpful in there. The room itself was very small with a four poster bed which could do with some attention. Again not enough storage for items in draws but we managed. There where some stains on the wooden tops and just general dust sitting in places, crooks and crannies, a quick wipe with antibacterial wipes and they where all gone.We felt that the staff just don't have the time to spend in the rooms paying attention to the small details to make it just that little bit better. The car park whilst there was enough spaces it was difficult to park at times because of the way others had parked not thinking of others. The top car park would be better marked out and specific bays marked for disabled , all though there was a disabled area right at the front of the hotel it was often taken up by other cars that didn't need to be there. Being disabled and having to walk up the steep slop to the entrance is very difficult then you had to navigate passed the cars parked right in front of the hotel doors. Overall we had a lovely stay and we will most defiantly book again as we have already discussed and seen other rooms ready for our return. We don't want our bad points to put people.of staying as we feel that these points are just little things that can be corrected quite easily. The good points far outway the bad points and we can't wait to be back .

Standing proudly in the heart of Grasmere village and cradled by two acres of glorious gardens, you’ll find the historic Wordsworth Hotel. Once the Earl of Cadogan’s shooting lodge, our grand country mansion offers the ideal retreat to soak up the picture-postcard views of the lakes and experience the sense of space, fresh mountain air and secluded beauty spots that inspired two centuries’ worth of Romantic poets and painters. The Wordsworth Hotel and Spa provides an iconic destination perfectly positioned in the UNESCO World Heritage Lake District, it’s a place where you can reconnect with nature, ramble across the fells, watch the sunset or take an open water swim. Individually styled, comfortable bedrooms balance tradition with contemporary design with most offering stunning mountain or village views. The fine dining, air conditioned Signature Restaurant provides an award-winning menu whilst the more informal Dove Bistro showcases superb local ingredients cooked with flair and skill. For guests looking to truly pamper themselves the Spa offers guests a wide range of luxurious and natural treatments to ensure a fully relaxing stay.

Four star hotel situated in 14 acres of gardens & woodland, 5 miles from the M6 & 8 miles from Windermere. Extensive conference & banqueting facilities, 2AA Rosette restaurant, Westmorland Pub in the grounds, health & fitness club and 99 bedrooms including two Herdwick Suites, four executive and seven balcony rooms overlooking Kendal Castle & Lakeland Fells. Managed by Legacy Hotels & Resorts.
A little disappointed with our stay . Returning after a few years absence we were saddened to find things not quite as perfect as they were. Some of the staff were excellent and a few couldn't really be bothered eg in the bar. The room was lovely and comfortable but in a hotel that was by no means full why give a guest the most distant room from reception which was a long walk and included several flights of stairs with no lift. The food menu was a lot smaller than it used to be and that's acceptable given the times we've come through but there aren't any specials to make a longer stay more interesting. The lamb rump was especially good. Service at dinner was excellent. Breakfast was disappointing. There were masses of lovely precooked bacon, sausage etc on the servery but when we got the food back to the table the bacon was only just warm. I think it needed turning more often to keep it evenly heated. The rest of the breakfast, beans, mushrooms, eggs were hot and tasty. The swimming pool and steam room were fine and the facilities very clean. I'm sure we'll return as the views from the hotel are magnificent and generally the hotel tries hard to please. Staff just need a bit more ooomph and positivity to make the hotel a knockout again
