Reviewed By chin570909The hotel room is spacious and clean. And wifi is free and speed is very fast .The toilet is also clean and with separate bathtub and shower. Breakfast is above average , mainly typical local foods, but at least provide coffee and bread.

Reviewed By Richard_remarksThis hotel is completely run down and rooms are dirty, badly equipped and very small. I wouldn't recommend anybody to stay here and wonder what the local management did to keep their “4-5 star ranking”??? The location is a little off and you need to take a taxi to reach the center or very beautiful governmental center.

Way below Normal Mercure Standards
Reviewed By James BIf you’re thinking that you’ll check into an international chain hotel to get a better level of service than might be available with local hotels in Karamay, this probably should not be your choice. The level of service and amenities is WAY below the normal Mercure standard even for China. To start, it took nearly an hour to check in because the girl at the front desk couldn’t figure out how to process a foreign credit card. At this hotel, if you’re a foreigner, you’ll be on a purely cash basis. She also didn’t know what to do with my passport. It seems that she copied the information page but not my Chinese visa or the entry stamp (to prove I hadn’t overstayed my visa). This resulted in a knock on my door by two policemen who escorted me back downstairs so that the additional pages could be photocopied. They don’t seem to get many foreigners here. The room was pleasant and spacious except for the stench coming from the toilet area. The toilet was in a separate closet, and closing the door to that room helped, but the stench never went away. The floors in the room also were gritty, so you need to wear slippers all the time. There’s one restaurant, and the food there was pretty bad in my view. The hotel claims to have a bar, but it’s never staffed and offers no beer or cocktails. The only wine they have is the Mercure private label red wine from Bordeaux. The only thing you have a choice for is fruit juice and tea. There are no laundry facilities, so if you were expecting to get laundry done here, you’re out of luck. There’s no concierge, so if you need help arranging transport or a tour to the Ghost City, you’ll have to rely on the folks at the front desk. To be charitable, this is not their area of expertise. So . . . All in all there’s not much to like about this hotel. Foreigner beware.
