A village dating back to Yoritomo's shogunate government in 1192, Kamakura lies amid wooded hills filled with Buddhist temples and Shinto shrines. Local university students offer free guided tours leaving from Kamakura station. Visit the Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, dedicated to the Shinto god of war, patron deity of the shogun's family, and walk inside the Great Buddha.

This is a perfectly decent hotel, but there is no reason why it should be number one in the area. Rooms are so minuscule that there is no room for two people to get into a suitcase at once. For some reason I no longer comprehend, we paid well over $100 in advance to stay here.

Wonderfully clean hotel just next to train station and Nissan Car rental which we booked to travel to Kawaguchiko. They had a lot of amenities at the lobby which was nice. Breakfast was ok too. Lots of restaurants nearby for dinner.

The room is decent with big lockers, 2 rooms sharing 2 toilets. There is common bathroom and a communal hot bath, that's my favourite place to go everyday. The dressing area is well thought of n spotless clean. Shampoo, shower gel, conditioner using DHC amenity. Hand gel using Pola. 3mins walk to yuigahama station. 7-11, family mart, lawson all within 6min walk. The common area could have better seating. All seats are v firm n upright. It will be better with some to laze on. All staff are friendly except one trainee, when checking in I leave my occupation blank, he insist I need to fill it in. I told him I'm not working n he give me a roll eye look.... The yoga class is nice too... Overall very happy to stay and highly recommended.

I lived on Kamakura for some years decades ago, and wanted to bring my family back to visit. We chose the Guest House because of reviews and the fact that it could offer us a unique in-country experience we would not get by staying at a hotel. We were not disappointed. As a family of four, we reserved the one private room, which has four large bunks, and were very comfortable there. There are also two large tatami-mat dorm rooms, separated by gender. In addition to two other dorm guests, Ikumi-san (26) and Mariko-san (65), there were four resident managers. We shared a communal, informal meal, drank beer and sake, and had a wonderful time. Jun, a resident, played the shamisen, while Ikumi, a guest, played the koto. It was an amazing concert. We can recommend the Guest House highly.

I had such an excellent stay in Kamakura. The accommodation was everything I could’ve asked for; a very beautiful and authentic Japanese ryokan, as well as very clean and well organized atmosphere. The host and staff were very helpful and kind. The breakfast offering was very delicious as well, for a very reasonable price. The traditional garden is very beautiful, and I really enjoyed the close proximity to the beach. Simply put, this place really offered a unique traditional Japanese experience, and I would definitely come back again.

Checked in and went to the room. Saw that the window was frosted. As I could not see outside it made the small room feel even smaller. I asked for a different room but was told all the bedrooms have the same style window. In fact all Soetsu Fresa hotels have frosted bedroom windows. I was advised that if I wanted a clear window that I should book an old Soetsu hotel! Hotel was new but already places in the room were dusty. House keeping left our used tea mugs unwashed. A sign on the back of the door says to reduce impact on the environment the hotel are promoting various green housekeeping initiatives and to think if you need your towels replaced, bedding changed or room cleaned. This was at odds with the plastic toothbrushes, small tubes of toothpaste etc supplied.

The location of Pension Greenglass is in 2 minutes from Enoden Wadazuka station, and is in 15 minutes from JR Kamakura station. It's an inn very convenient for Kamakura sightseeing tour of the city and sea bathing in summer in a way point of Kamakura station and Yuigahama coast.
We liked the quiet neighborhood of this family style pension; the reception desk persons / owners were very friendly and they advised us on some place to visit in Kamakura. We stayed in the room 206 which was a twin bed type (so we had to bring them back together to have a larger bed). The rooms are freshly repainted with new air-conditioned system and most of them have a little balcony. There is no real breakfast as such but still you can get free coffee/tea in the morning with some fruits, so it's ok. The "plus" of this place is the location : it's not too fare from Kamakura station, you can walk or take the Enoshima Electric Railway Line and get of at Wadazuka Station. It's close from the beach front and the great Buddha (Kotokuin) too .... last but not least it's a really quiet neighborhood. Watch out : no Credit Card payment so bring some cash !
