Rooms were OK for a one night stay. They also felt a little dated. Bed was comfortable but Duvet was too small and the curtains let light in. Tiny Bathroom with the Wash Basin in the bedroom. Food was very good and there was an ample spread at Breakfast. Bar closed at 10pm which was a little bit annoying.

MAXX Hotel Jena is located on the outskirts of Jena and offers guests idyllic views over the Saale valley, with a touch of Hollywood style. Using public transport at no charge, you can get to the city center in no time at all (about 25 minutes) to visit the Zeiss Planetarium and the Jentower. The train station can be reached in about 15 minutes. Just like the hotel itself, all 220 rooms and suites have been designed with a 1930s - 1950s Anglo-American theme. The colors have a natural, subtle effect and the wooden and upholstered furniture have an almost nostalgic feel. The comfort features include a flat-screen TV, ceiling fan, armchair and work desk.
We stayed 7 nights here for business and I am afraid I did not experience great things here. Where to begin.... The checking in and out was fine. The hotel cleaning was fine, the hotel facilities were ok. The terrace and gardens were nice. The restaurant was poor, as was the service which is a shame really considering the pleasant gardens. Breakfast was a little boring. The spa was awful. Horrible interiors, no air-con, or help. The gym was too hot to train in for example. There was no air-con in the rooms which made it very difficult to sleep. Now the area. As a woman I would not walk here alone. It was a bad area and you could feel it even alone in the room. I felt this because it was very apparent the front desk staff had no idea who went in or out which did not make me feel safe. The walk from the tram was isolated and took 5mins. It has good bits too but very suttle good bits.

Discover Jena from the ibis Jena City and its ideal central location on Holzmarkt. All the sights of the university city and Schiller city are within walking distance. Other nearby sights include many institutes, companies, the university campus and the "Goethe Galerie" shopping mall. You're never far from wherever you want to be. The hotel offers 75 climate rooms and a parking garage for cars lower than 1,50 for a fee. Higher cars can be left in the public parking garage across the street for the same fee.
The location is perfect in the middle of the center. Restaurants all around. There is a parking-garage below the hotel. The rooms are as you can expect in an Ibis-hotel. The personnel is friendly. There was no special attention for being a platinum-member, besides getting the welcome-drink.

Despite the central location and the nice views, this hotel is not worth going to again. It sits in the middle of a mall, where you have to get past a first pre-reception, then take the lift to 27th floor, and then find a tiny second reception where you get your room card and pay. There is no lobby, no feel-good factor, no nothing. The rooms are minimalistic, almost on Motel-One level, with glass and metal tops, the bed uncomfy, etc. Not worth the price (paid EUR 107) in any way. More like 70, perhaps.

Nice small hostel in the centre of Jena with a well equipped communal kitchen and friendly staff. Check-in and out were easy, annoying that we had to pay extra for bedding though! Otherwise very cheap! Quiet and suitable for families, friends, solo travellers or business trips.

Had stayed there for 6 nights for a conferrence, had a big nice room with clean bathroom. Friendly English speaking staff, very helpful. Good breakfast choices, only the coffee was nothing special. The only bad thing is that you need to get the internet access card for 5 Euro deposit at the reception desk, which in not occupied on weekends. That can be a bit complicated then.

The place was adequate. For the price you get what you get. However, i was there with some school mates to finish my MBA so luckily there were some good friends to make the experience OK. Breakfast was OK as long as you get there early, so the stock of food was a lot. When we were there there were a lot of other students so we had to share the common space. But other then that, you get what you get for the price. Quite distant from the station, so its good to get a taxi since its quite up the hill.

We were here for a wedding, we had the back winter garden room all to ourselves which was fantastic, we could close the door and it was private. The food was really great though I did miss the croissants that we had on Friday morning, they didn't have them again on Saturday. The room was really HOT and the circulating air that is supposed to be available was broken/or not functioning. We asked at the front desk three times and they kept saying that someone would come look/fix and nothing was done nor any follow up. By the third time that we asked, they gave us a fan that was louder than a jet engine. Leaving the windows open was the only option and there were tons of little insects that came in the room because of this. You could also only open up the window a little bit so that didn't help much. We still woke up multiple times in the night because it was so hot and we had to remove the bedding because it was not a summer duvet. The noise from the roadway was also quite loud when you had the window open. I think with the windows closed this would've been ok. The outside pool area was ok but the chairs were really old and stained and the pool area looked nothing like the pictures make it look... it's old and much much smaller. It did it's job of cooling us off but it's misleading. We also had to walk all over the place to find the spa area so we could pick up the pool towels. A suggestion would be to have these at the front desk or somewhere near the pool. In the end we all felt like this hotel was way over priced for what we got. We live in Switzerland and are used to high prices but for what we got, this was way over priced. The shower was ok but the floor was really slippery and lot's of our older family was scared they would slip when they showered. Since there was no air circulating in the room, none of the towels ever dried the whole time we ere there. It's also not really near public transport in case you were on foot like we were (about 10-15 min walk). In summary, the food was good, the waiter/waitresses were nice but the room and the front desk service was not good, they gave an attitude that there's nothing they can do if something isn't working and you pay the price even if things that are expected to work, don't.
