Shiramizu Amidado (2.2 mi), located nearby, makes Fukinoyu a great place to stay for those interested in visiting this popular Iwaki landmark. While in Iwaki be sure to experience nearby seafood restaurants such as Kaikou, Fukushima Prefecture Season Donmaru Iwaki Yumoto, or Gen-Yomaru Naigotsuzuramachi. There is no shortage of things to do in the area: explore popular gardens such as Koya Hanamiyama and Iwakitaira Castle Trace. We’re sure you’ll enjoy your stay at Fukinoyu as you experience everything Iwaki has to offer.
Fukinoyu is a good Japanese ryokan located in southern Fukushima Prefecture. Due to the nuclear incident in 2011, the number of visitors to the area is still low, and businesses like Fukinoyu are struggling. We decided to spend a day at the Hawaiians resort and spend the night at Fukinoyu. When we arrived, we found our family name posted on the “welcome board” at the entrance, and the staff obviously were focused on giving us and the handful of other guests the best service possible. Our tatami mat room was spacious and clean, and the baths (both indoor and outdoor) were very nice. They served us dinner and breakfast in a private dining room, and the food was delicious and plentiful. I recommend Fukinoyu for a traditional, “omotenashi” Japanese ryokan experience.

We stopped here on the way up to Kamaishi for the Rugby World Cup - and it absolutely delivered. The hardware is a bit dated, a bit old-school (real key on a big chain) but the hotel was clean and tidy. Staff did not speak English but in this day and age, with Google Translate, we managed just fine! The golf course is stunning - looks gorgeous! And I am not even a golfer! We ate in the Seagull Restaurant and found the menu absolutely adequate - we ate curry, and it was a good choice - one can never go wrong with a Japanese comfort food curry, seemingly. Staff were super friendly. Onsen was super (but we were a bit confused as to the protocol until a receptionist took us for a tour showing us the towels etc.). Positioning of the hotel on the slope down to the sea was perfect. For golfers it must be a delight.

Stayed here for two nights while traveling on business. Rooms are small by American standards but good sized for Japan. Room was clean, bed was comfortable and room had a small fridge for drinks and snacks. Breakfast was included and there was a pretty good variety (buffet style) with plenty to suit your tastes. Only issue was AC did not stay on overnight - which turned out to be my fault. There is a switch when you enter the room which must be on in order to keep AC running (sort of a master power switch for room) so if you use this switch to turn off lights there will be no AC. Use switches by the bed for the lights and you will not repeat my experience.

Whether your goal is business, sightseeing, or playing golf, our hotel is the perfect choice for a comfortable stay. Our banquet halls accommodate larger parties of up to 1,000 guests. We also have a sophisticated chapel and facilities for Shinto-style wedding ceremonies. Iwaki Washington Hotel is a new landmark of Iwaki city where our guests can enjoy gatherings, meetings, and weddings.
The Washington hotel is a hotel within an easy 10-minute walk from Iwaki Station. It is quite cheap and offers the essential for a business trip. I would not recommend it for a holiday because of the essentiality of the structure. The staff are very friendly and helpful but speak little English, so there may be difficulties in making special requests. The single room I was assigned was very small, enough for a queen bed and a small desk. Someone may find it difficult to sit at the desk comfortably, preferring to sit on the bed in the vicinity. The wifi is very good. The bathroom is small, with the sink partially overlapping the tub. However the cleaning of the bathroom is good. The cleaning of the room, however, was just enough. The control panel located next to the bed, which allows you to control the room lights and the alarm clock, was quite dirty and I had to clean it before using it. Conditioning is efficient, and it is possible to partially open the window for air exchange. In the room you can see a kettle, tea bags and phone. The hotel has an elevator. Breakfast is self-service, in Japanese style. The international breakfast is limited to some croissants and a machine that offers hot drinks. The quality is not exceptional but I would say more than enough. Within walking distance from the hotel you can find supermarkets and bars.
