From its origins as a Connecticut River trading post in 1633, Hartford has become not only the state capital but also the insurance capital of the world, with a slew of historical attractions, a thriving arts and entertainment center, a revitalized riverfront and beautiful parks and public gardens. It was here that the lovable Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer were born in the imagination of celebrated author Mark Twain and immortalized on paper during the writer's Hartford years. Twain's home and those of fellow literary figures Harriet Beecher Stowe and Noah Webster are open to the public. The Wadsworth Atheneum, the oldest public art museum in the U.S., houses Pilgrim-Century furniture, the Amistad collection and a special treasure hunt system to entice kids to explore the museum's works. If your timing is right (end of June, beginning of July), you'll catch the Elizabeth Park rose gardens in bloom, but fall is also great for brilliant leaf colors, and spring yields colorful gardens and blossoming trees. For a bird's-eye view of the city, visit the observation deck of Travelers Tower, where you might also spot two resident falcons.

The Goodwin story began in 1881, when two brothers, James J. Goodwin and Rev. Francis Goodwin, developed this classic structure as a landmark apartment building. Originally developed as an upscale apartment building and later converted to a hotel, The Goodwin was a classic and prestigious address from the start. With a star-studded history, characters like J.P. Morgan resided there during visits to his hometown, and it has retained its sophistication and appeal ever since. The hotel was converted in the late 1980s in conjunction with the Goodwin Square project, its façade was preserved from the apartment building, and has become an iconic Hartford landmark. For its 2017 rebirth, The Goodwin will exude a vibrant City style, while retaining elements of its history, heritage and tradition to demonstrate the authentic character that makes it so special. Guest rooms have been re-imagined. Interior spaces have been thoughtfully designed as welcoming gathering areas. Original fireplaces remain, built-in wood closets restored. The entire staff has been classically trained in the lost art of service and hospitality. And a world-class brasserie adds to the unmistakable Goodwin experience. Cosmopolitan and urban-chic…yet grounded in a timeless and rich history. Welcome to the only boutique hotel in Hartford.
Unfortunately it seems that the Goodwin was a much nicer place to stay pre-Covid! I was really excited to stay in a historic hotel, but it did not deliver. There were several disappointments. 1. No parking lot, parking garage, or valet service. We had to find street parking. 2. No breakfast. A coffee bar was available and it was good tasting coffee! But nothing to eat. 3. Our room felt like a dark dungeon. There was no outside window. The window it had overlooked the hotel lounge. The walls and ceiling were dark tones and the lamps were not bright, so being in the room in the daytime just felt sad and dungeon-like. There was no carpet anywhere in the room either, adding to the basement-like feel. The bathroom was very nice! 4. The beautiful hotel lounge seating area was closed off. Since there was so little to do and enjoy, we were eager to leave. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. I hope that the hotel gets back to it’s old self soon so future guests can enjoy their stay more!

Our hotel is accessed from Trumbull Street and the Hartford XL Center can be quickly reached via skywalk providing convenient access to outstanding Connecticut area sports. Accommodations include 393 guest rooms with seven beautifully decorated suites, many of which overlook the renowned Connecticut State Capitol and Historic Bushnell Park.
Like many buildings in Hartford, this Hilton was probably nice decades ago, but it has not been well-maintained. Paint is faded and even cracked in places. The elevators are rickety. There have been cosmetic improvements in places, like new sink surfaces, but the wood drawers below the sink are chipped and dented. There is new equipment in the fitness room, but the room itself is tiny. The property is well-located in the heart of Hartford, but it was fairly pricey for such an outdated hotel.

Hartford Marriott Downtown is a luxury hotel interconnected to the Connecticut Convention Center. This Hartford hotel offers a unique setting for meetings, wedding receptions, and special events.
Stayed on night as part of a business trip and the hotel serves its purpose as a place to sleep, but that's it. Is very standard, and quite basic. It is a standard hotel, with clean room, standard Marriott bed and quite basic service. I arrived after a 8 hours flight from London on JFK and a 3 hours car ride to Hartford, it was in the evening, asked about room service, they told me that it was available. Called from my room, ordered a salad and was very, very poor. Overpriced for what I got. Location is good if you are attending the Conference centre, which is next door. Seems to me as the only or the best alternative in Hartford, so will stay again if business takes me back to Hartford, but as said, hotel just for one night given the lack of amenities and basic service.

The complimentary breakfast is very good and generous. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. I highly recommend seeing Elizabeth Park while in Hartford.

All suites feature living room & dining areas, flat-screen TVs, complimentary high-speed Internet and daily housekeeping services.
This hotel is not safe. It is located right next to the bus station and there are homeless people all k we the place. One person knocked on our window as we were parking the car. While we were checking in, another just walked into the lobby and sat down. On top of all that, the hotel is really not very nice. It was dirty and old.

Located within 5 minutes of downtown Hartford, CT. All rates include Complimentary Continental Breakfast, Free WI-FI Internet, Free Parking (Buses, RVs, & Trucks Welcome). Walking distance to CT EXPO Center, Dodge Music Center, and HARTFORD MEADOWS. Call Now to Book Rooms-!!
I booked through Hotwire, so I could not check the reviewers earlier. But this was the worst experience of all the travel I had done in the US. My son and I stayed at this property for 4-5 nights out of 11 nights that we booked. They changed three rooms for us, but we could not take it anymore. We found sheets burned with cigarettes, roaches roaming freely in the room, and bitten by bedbugs and fleas overnight. Initially, we thought it might be an allergy to something we ate. But no... I finally checked out several days earlier and went to another hotel.

Great location...right off the highway. Plenty of options for food close by. Quiet, clean, lots of hot water, with pretty decent pressure, okay wifi. Tv was snowy and the cracks around the door let some cold air in the room. We just need a place to sleep and shower in the morning...fit the bill perfectly
