Great onsen on the top floor

Reviewed By MunichEricJ

The hotel is pretty new. I got Room 1201, a double bed in a smallish, north- facing room. The view was great, and I could see to the Kabushima start of the amazingly beautiful Tanesashi coastal trail. It’s a classic Dormy Inn room, compact but well- designed to make the most of the space. The design is modern and well- executed. The sink is in the entry hall and has the mini- fridge and tea service underneath. There’s also an in- room safe. The toilet and shower room are across the entry hall from the sink. The toilet is a new model Toto washlet. Again, typical D.I., there’s a four or five gallon fresh water jug for “just in case.” There are more electrical outlets than in most hotels, and located at convenient heights, much appreciated. There’s a good in- room safe as well. The bed was very comfortable and the window opened so I didn’t use the aircon. The breakfast room is a corner room facing north and east and gets the morning sun, so it’s very bright and cheery. Breakfast is a selection of Japanese and western items, all high- quality and tasty. The onsen is excellent, again a D.I. hallmark. Located on the 13h floor and facing east and south, the views are great. There’s a sauna, a cold bath and indoor and outdoor hot baths. This one I estimate at 42C, a bit hotter than most, which I like. The changing area is nice and there are so many lockers that if they were all in use, it would be standing room only in all the baths!

Compact but very good value

Reviewed By Diana T

Very limited English by staff. Good service. Free breakfast: rice, onigiri, wheat tea, nado, sweet meatballs, preserved veg, miso soup, chopped cabbage, toast! Butter packet but no knife to spread it. Bread roll. Starts at 6:30 till 9 am. Long queue at 6:30. Crowded but orderly. Everyone quiet. Many are on business and they go to the office afterwards. Toiletry items such as combs are at lift lobby. Toothbrush & a small tube of toothpaste in the room. Get your fresh piece of PJ (like a shirt with knee-length) from the sterilising cupboard near the lobby. Washing machine & drier at the ground floor behind the reception area. Coin operated. Laptop & printer to use for free at reception lobby. Wifi good. Password on your TV screen after you figure out how to turn it on. No English channel. There are Eng news preloaded from YouTube if you find the topic suits you. The room is very small. But space to hang clothes, 2 suitcases 1 medium, one hand carry size still ok to move around. You store them under the bed! Very small bathroom very decent. Pant pressing machine. Tiny boiler boils 300ml each time. The boiler doubles as a humidifier. Only green tea powder available. The LCD TV can connect to a laptop as a projector. So you can actually watch whatever you can stream on the internet. That is if you are traveling with your laptop.

Good stay

Reviewed By Bobcrankypants

The hotel is a little old but still in great shape, with the room being a good size for Japan. It’s a short walk from Hon Hachinohe station and to the shopping area. I had breakfast and it was a decent selection of food. I was in town for the bouillabaisse festival but unfortunately the hotel’s restaurant wasn’t open for dinner that night - no idea why - so I had to go somewhere else for it.

Cosy and with onsen!

Reviewed By Bluesphynx

Right next to the railway station, this small hotel has surprisingly good facilities. There's an onsen, very secure for ladies with a key to open it and you can lock it from the inside. A delicious Japanese breakfast comes with your night's stay, rice, porridge, fish, eggs, salad and there's even ham and hash browns,no fruit though. The same restaurant also serves dinner and I had a nice tonkatsu with grated cabbage salad and miso soup. The double room is rather small for two people and so is the bathroom, but it's fine for a night or two. Complimentary coffee is provided in the lobby the whole day.Tapwater is drinkable. The lady at reception speaks good English too. A very good deal for the price!

terrible customer service

Reviewed By ellajudo

I accidentally booked a room for the wrong day. When I arrived and asked if my reservation could be moved one day to the correct day. They said yes, and we payed the difference in expense. It took a while to figure this out, but they seemed very helpful. When my husband and I returned the same day to check in, they told us they had been wrong before and now we had to pay a $6700 Yen cancellation fee. Needless to say we left. Had they told us this to begin with, it would have been okay. Instead, they went back on there word, and made us wait around for nothing. They waisted our time and energy and ruined our trip to hachinohe.

Great hotel with onsen!

Reviewed By h4r10

This hotel is located in a quite surrounding, and surrounded by some stores nearby. I stayed for few nights in their single-bed (western) room, a typical single-bed (western) room of Japanese hotel. This hotel also provide Japanese style (tatami) room. Well maintained room. Delicious Japanese style breakfast in the restaurant overlooking mountain view. For those of you who like soaking yourself in an onsen, there are some onsen pools in the basement of this hotel too. Highly recommended!

Consistently good

Reviewed By Simone R

We stayed here for just one night in winter of 2016, and came back to stay for 3 nights this August for the Hachinohe Sansha Taisai Matsuri. The room again was of a very good size: we could store both of our large suitcases with plenty of room to move around, and we could lay one open on the floor when needed too. The bed is a double bed, nothing large like a queen but we knew this from the last time. Unlike the previous commenter, we had no issues with smells or dirty rooms, and our aircon worked well (though it was an old system with a dial build into the bedside table!). Breakfast was good, but it is the same selection of food every day which may bore some people. All in all, still good value for money, and a great location: opposite the station and a few convenient bus stops, and a 5-10 minute walk into the city centre. We were also only a 10 minute walk away from a number of restaurants on the main road in the opposite direction.

Good for its price

Reviewed By Sweet-Dawn

The rooms are clean and comfortable, although a bit small. We liked the breakfast, with different things to choose, not many but good. The staff is friendly, especially the woman that prepared the breakfast. It's very close to restaurants and shops, but the way to the station by foot seems a bit long if you go with luggage, bacause it's a bit ragged... Although, it's not bad located and has a good price.
