I really enjoyed our stay at this fine hotel. The service staff was excellent and the restaurant is great. Rooms are spotless and I think this is a great place to stay in wonderful Iceland. The lava fields are interesting and the view is excellent. I loved the great buffet in the mornings

Amazing customer service from the lovely Joanna. She was so kind and went the extra mile to help us above and beyond when we had a problem (not with the hotel). This level of service makes you feel at home and very relaxed. Thank you Joanna, and also Biggi ? . Hotel was clean with well equipped rooms and a fantastic shower. V comfortable beds too. Bonus that it is opposite the thermal swimming pool. 42 degrees in one hot tub there!

These cute, cozy and well appointed cottages boast a lovely view of the harbour in the charming town of Grindavik. They had everything you might need for your stay right at hand. The modern bathroom had a rain shower with great water pressure and a heated towel rack. Self check-in was very convenient and easy. The location is superb - very close to Keflavik Airport and the Blue Lagoon as well as the new Fagradalsfjall volcano. There are several restaurants (Pappas was our favorite), a grocery store and a great bakery (Hérastubbur bakarí) nearby. We would definitely like to stay here again!

Just 40 minutes' drive from Reykjavik Center, 15 minutes from Keflavik Airport and only 5 minutes from the world famous Blue Lagoon, the Mar Guesthouse is in the perfect location to take full advantage of this beautiful, captivating part of the world. All rooms have a view over the harbor and wherever you are you can enjoy captivating outlooks across both the ocean and the town itself.
Everything we could have wanted! A large area for 3 people, with sitting and dining area too. Well- equipped kitchen area within apartment although we didn’t use it as restaurant next door ( Bruin) is great. Beds very comfy. Check- in using a code sent by email was no problem.

Interiors conceived for comfort, designed for serenity, and architected for wellbeing. Floor-to-ceiling windows revealing a world of enchantment. Terraces surrounded by the radiant geothermal waters. Balconies providing unforgettable perspectives on the volcanic horizon. Each suite is the foundation of a transformative experience.
We spent 3 nights at the Retreat in May, and coming from someone from Southern California who has stayed at 5 star hotels locally and around the world, I can say for sure that the Retreat lives up to the hype and possibly more. Service- friendly, calm and helpful. Check in included a glass of champagne, and the front desk was helpful anytime we needed anything. The minute you walk in, you’re met with the most gorgeous, minimalistic design and stunning views of the blue lagoon. As all the reviews say, get ready to be in your robe all day- what a treat! I’ve never seen anywhere else that has most guests walking around in robes, but you get easily accustomed to it and really adds to that relaxation vibe! The rooms- I mean, the pictures say it all, so if you’re reading this you probably already know! But the rooms are endlessly sleek, minimal but also inviting. The bed and pillows were perfect. The restocked mini bar with ily espresso, red and white wine, delicious pretzels, juices and beer and water- such a nice perk! The complimentary blue lagoon facial products and body products are also nice too. Lagoon view vs lava view- we stayed 2 nights with the lagoon view and one night in the lava view room (due to availability)- the lagoon view obv has more lagoon visible, the lava view still offers some lagoon (at least our room) and you really could reach out and touch the lava rock! The lava room also provided more of a complete horizon view so we were able to see the sunset horizon colors more vividly so we enjoyed that a lot. Spa- completing the ritual in the spa was a fun treat! Loved all the different areas too like the fireplace room, meditation room etc. could definitely spend a long time there Private lagoon access- definitely a respite away from the more crowded blue lagoon that you have access to as well, it wa s almost empty every time we went, which was so nice. And yes no photos allowed but if you kindly ask the spa staff someone will take pictures for you and email them to you on the spot. This did help us detach from our phones for sure! I still recommend time at the main blue lagoon too, love how expansive it felt and the swim up bar option. You can always find pockets to chill at even if there are a lot of people around. Loved the fun touches like the honest bar- a small bar in the library type common room, can mix your own drinks and then write down what you made and later will be charged to your room. As for the restaurants, we only tried Lava one time in person and once in room dining, and unfortunately have mixed feelings - the space is incredible, the vegetarian options were few but mostly delicious. Loved the cauliflower soup, beet salad options, the veg entree with mushroom looked amazing but was under seasoned and the couscous? Was over cooked and gummy, so overall hard to eat. Our drink order never went through so we didn’t get them until after our entrees. Service was friendly but spotty, so for the price and how lovely the space was, it didn’t live up to the fine dining experiences were used to ( in Los Angeles, New York, paris etc). We did mention the concerns we had and they were addressed promptly which we appreciated. We ordered in room dining from the restaurant and the food was delicious. So overall- pricey, worth doing once at least while staying at the hotel. But fyi really no other dining options close to the hotel other than the hotel restaurants, so plan accordingly. Breakfast and high tea were amazing- we looked forward to both every day. Definitely all felt luxurious and personal. Loved the chia pudding from the buffet and the omelets made fresh by the chef. Overall- incredible views, breathtaking rooms and design, lovely service and vibes, luxurious perks like high tea and private lagoon access- honestly worth the trek from anywhere to stay at the Reteat. Can’t wait to be back!

Set in the heart of a stunning lava landscape, Silica Hotel is just ten minutes' walk from the Blue Lagoon. The hotel offers its own private bathing lagoon, available for hotel guests every day from 09:00 to 22:00. The Hotel has won several design awards. Built in harmony with the surrounding landscape, it offers an oasis of calm, relaxation, and healing. The hotel has 35 bright and spacious double/twin rooms. All rooms offer private facilities and a veranda, with breathtaking views of the surrounding lava fields.
Stayed one night. The property is a short 7 minute walk to the "blue lagoon' although I see no reason to go to the Blue Lagoon when the pools there are so nice and not crowded. Excellent breakfast. Tiny gym. Easy parking. Nice that room had small fridge. Our safe didn't work. Pretty tough sticklers on check out since they are booked for months they say.

We'd had a long first day of traveling and sightseeing after entering Iceland, and we stayed at Anita's Guesthouse. We were greeted by Anita upon arrival and she was very kind to show us to the lower level of the house where the guest quarters are located. We had the first room inside the door, and it was great for our stay. There are two shared bathrooms, and I believe 3 or 4 rooms total at the guesthouse. We wanted to stay somewhere relatively close to the Fagradalsfjall volcano so we could easily drive there to hike the next morning. This was great for that! There is a small kitchen with some breakfast food available and a stove and kitchenware to cook if wanted. Would recommend this as a place to say for people passing through!

We and our friends just had a delightful stay at the Hotel Grindavik. Our room was large, immaculate and very nice as was the bathroom. We also had a very tasty and satisfying dinner and breakfast at the hotel’s restaurant. The owners are very nice. He is an ex ship captain/sailor and she is a quality cook. The hotel and the owners/staff in a three words are charming, original and warm.

We stayed here when we got stranded in a storm as Police had closed only road back to Reykjavík after our visit to the Blue Lagoon. Snow was so deep and biting wind, owner was so kind and helpful showing us where to park (our hire car) safely. Room was warm and cosy with heated blanket. Told us places to eat but everywhere closed due to snow we ended up at petrol station which has a fast food diner. Certainly an adventurous start to our first night, almost glad we got stranded though to have stayed here and experience a bit of the real Iceland. Breakfast was help yourself cereal, cold meats, cheese, toast etc. Just lovely ?
