With its sandy North Shore beaches, rocky outcrops, green parks, hemlock woods and wild estuaries full of shorebirds, it is no wonder that Gloucester has attracted such a rich and diverse artists' community. Fitz Hugh Lane, Winslow Homer and John Sloan are just some of the artists who have taken inspiration from Gloucester's beautiful surrounds. Still boasting dozens of galleries and boutiques, as well as museums, theaters and an artists' colony, the city's art scene clearly continues to thrive.

Beautifully restored Stacy House (1899) suites with pillow-top beds, flat panel t.V.'S, and Jacuzzi tubs. Individual suites offer gas fireplace, separate sitting and sleeping rooms or wrap-around view. Modern Oceanfront House and Seaside House open onto patios or balconies with sweeping views across the lawn and out to sea
First the good....The property and location is beautiful and convenient. We have stayed here for the past 4 years. Kevin is the manager and while we were there we had the heating unit go out in the room. He was quick to check it and get us into another room quickly. This was not an issue as things will break and it was handled quickly. Rooms are clean and the view is great. Now for the bad....they are having staffing issues. They do not provide daily room service. They do charge an amenities fee in addition to the cost of the room. I knew that and didn't have a problem. On their website it says the fee is for the soaps, in room coffee, breakfast, and pool usage. While we we there we ran low on toilet paper. My wife went to the front desk to get more....she was told they didn't have any they would call housekeeping. So I went over an asked if I needed to buy some while I was out and was told no housekeeping would bring some and the lady at the front desk handed me a box of tissues. We left for a few hours and when we came back still have not gotten any. Back to the lobby and a new person was working. Told her. She ran and got some for us. The other issue was breakfast. Breakfast is served from 7 to 10. Day 1 no issues. Selection of hot biscuit sandwiches, cereal, pastries, fresh fruit. Day 2 got there at 9. No hot sandwiches left and they were not making more. Ok we were a little late. Day 3 get to breakfast at 730. Hot sandwiches gone they said they ran out. Not happy so I will have a muffin with cream cheese. Container is empty so I ask if they could get some more....nope they don't have anymore cream cheese. They said the order didn't come. I am pretty sure the grocery stores in town would have some. You would think they would have sent staff for something like that. Remember they are charging the extra fee for the amenities. The lack of staff should not be the guest problem it is a corporate problem. If you charge a fee for service you should provide the service or eliminate the fee. The brag about the properties being premier properties. They need to figure out how to provide premier service. Again the manager is great but corporate needs to provide him with the tools to do the job. Newport Hotels runs the property.

The young girl at the desk is extremely rude, disrespectful and sassy. The entire property is run down and in desperate need of professional maintenance. The mattresses are filthy. The windows have paint on the glass. Door frames are broken. The shower in our room was broken. There was black mold around the tub snd on the rubber mat in the tub. Towel bars and toilet paper holders were falling out of the wall. There was hair in the comforter. Rust in the bathroom sink and the drain was clogged. The dead bolt didn’t work. The fridge was missing a foot so it wobbled. The tv volume was broken for remote use. The WiFi didn’t work. You couldn’t take a shower. When I informed the front desk the sassy brat at the desk told me I got what I paid for. I was a guest of the person who rented this room. That person needs a full refund and the board of health needs to shut that place down.

Just an overnight stay, so did not have much time to explore. Room was nice, clean and spacious. Lovely restaurant and bar area with decking overlooking the bay. Was very busy in the sunshine out on the deck in the evening. Friendly warm service offered by all staff. We worth the stop over and would certainly stay here again, if we were the venture this way again.

This is a 200 year old house overlooking the beach and the Fisherman’s Memorial, walking distance to the downtown area, the harbour and also to Stage Fort Park. There is a small car park at the rear of the property as well as free parking on the street right outside. Also a lovely sunny terrace at the front. We had a great room on the top floor - need to be aware there are stairs up from the street and to the two upper floors so maybe not suitable for those with mobility issues. We took smaller overnight bags to our top floor room We particularly enjoyed the breakfast conversations with the owner John and with other guests.

The Cape Ann Motor Inn is located directly on Long Beach. Located in Gloucester MA its just 30 miles northeast of Boston. All kitchenettes and guest rooms overlook the ocean, with a beautiful view of Thacher Island and its twin lighthouses. We border the town of Rockport. We are open year round and are dog friendly!
The title says it all. Cape Ann Motor Inn is exactly what it's supposed to be. A lovely nostalgic memory of how things used to be. We've been coming for at least 30 years. My Brother and I used to live on Cape Ann, moved away but our Mom still lived in Rockport. Before she moved into senior housing, we'd go to the 'Rockport end' of Long Beach. Such great memories. Then we began staying at Cape Ann Motor Inn. It's so laid back and wonderful (especially off season) and everyone's like family. Thank you guys for being so lovely during our recent stay. We left our Mom in her final resting place. A small family plot in Oak Hill. But her memory remains off Long Beach. As do ours.

Everyone was very welcoming making feel at home and comfortable. Even the other guests made us feel like friends. The Chef was very attentive and would go out of his way to please our palate. It was like staying with friends and the grounds are beautiful. I definitely recommend staying in the main building. There are additional rooms that were added to the property that are easy access motel style rooms.

Enjoy your favorite drink, and watch the boats going by. All located on premise. A great place for couples, families, corporate business travel, reunions weddings, groups and tours, and get togethers.
We stayed here May 22, 2022 for a few days. There is construction in the parking lot. I asked about the pool. There was a boat and fish in the pool. We were told we couldn't use it. I asked about the jacuzzi. It was shut down, too. I asked about wifi and was told it doesn't work. We were on the 3rd floor. No elevator. We stayed for breakfast, which cost $48.00. They certainly could have comped the breakfast, given no one told us about the pool, the construction, or the wifi! Very disappointing. The hotel photos showed a nice view of the water and boats, which looked good until we saw the mess in the lot. We could have picked another place if we knew the conditions we would face there. Parking was horrible, since the construction took up the lot and then there are the people parking to use their boats. I suggest you stay clear of this place for now. So disappointing.
