Although not a crowded Caribbean tourist spot, Georgetown is a unique city that serves as a perfect jumping point for ecotours into the South American interior. Its Victorian and Dutch Colonial architecture is detailed with louvered window shutters and brick and stone work. Built below the high tide level, the city is protected by a large seawall and drained by a grid of canals. Sundry goods can be found at the distinctive Stabroek Market, while the landmark Light House offers panoramic views.

An intimate heritage hotel in Guyana, Herdmanston prides itself in excellent guest service. One of only a few Guyana hotels that has maintained Guyana's distinctive colonial architecture. Herdmanston hotel is perched within extensive lawns and garden which is home to some of the gentle flora and fauna of central Georgetown. While our lawns and gardens are spacious, our small hotel size allows us to offer to our guests personalized service catering for your every need.
The staff Wallace, Paul, Susan, Valley, Vyphius, Blair, Demon & Howard all very friendly and attentive. The hotel was in a great location, clean, comfortable, lovely breakfast. We were on the top floor, no lift but the staff carried our luggage to & from the room, the room didn't have a great scenery so will ask for a front room next time. Will definitely go back.

It is our goal to provide the ultimate luxury and comfort in our "home away from home atmosphere". Our self-contained rooms will magnificently blend the privacy and relaxation, one would expect during their stay at the El Dorado Inn. The cathedral ceilings and well lit surroundings will emulate a spacious, air filling and a sense of security during your stay. Our well trained staff will welcome each guest and assist with any request.
We stayed at the Eldorado Inn for two weeks and felt like we were staying with family...it was hard to leave. Everyone was friendly, helpful and made us feel welcomed everyday. The hotel is close to the US Embassy, Hospital and a nice market. I would definitely stay here again and miss the staff.

The history aficionado will appreciate a stay at Cara Lodge, Guyana. It is one of the oldest and grandest structures in Georgetown, and is the best known and most popular hotel in Guyana. Cara Lodge was built in the 1840s and originally consisted of two houses. It has a long and romantic history and was the home of the first Lord Mayor of Georgetown. Over the years, the property has been visited by many dignitaries including King Edward VII who stayed at the house in 1923. He was of course later to abdicate and marry the American Wallis Simpson. Other dignitaries have included President Jimmy Carter in 1996, HRH Prince Charles in April 2000, HRH Prince Andrew in 2004 and Mick Jagger in 2005. This magnificent home turned hotel offers the tradition and nostalgia of a bygone era, complete with service and comfort of the most luxurious of hotels, all in a most congenial family atmosphere. Our signature dining establishment, the Bottle Restaurant, has been hailed as the best restaurant in the capital. It is open for lunch and dinner everyday, except Sundays. At Cara Lodge, we have worked hard to create a setting that is the perfect marriage of old world charm and contemporary comfort – ideal for the traveller wishing to experience a taste of Guyana’s past, and the business person wishing modern-day amenities.

I reseverved the room online at their website. Got an email saying they would send me a form to send in my credit card payment. I never got the form so 2 weeks before the reservation I personally called and reminded them. Again no form sent. Finally the day before I called to double check the room was ready.... of course they had given it up. At least they admitted to knowing about my reservation but they didn't do any thing to help. There are lots of nice hotels in GT so I just dropped this one and went to another one.

We are equipped to accept all major credit cards for payment (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, JCB and Diners Club)
I visited this hotel with a group of Dutch people. The owner of the hotel was always available behind the desk and extremely helpful (getting taxi, booking restaurants, calling to musea etc.). The ladies who took care of our breakfast and diner were also very friendly and easy to go. The hotel has a great roof terras where we could stay and rest. The rooms were large and have all the necessary things you need in a hotel.

This must be one of the few hotels in the world which do not provide free drinkable water. There is no water provided and when I asked for some I was told there is a charge - unbelievable. There is an upstairs gym which is very noisy during opening hours. On the plus side the hotel is clean and staff friendly. Food in the adjacent restaurant is reasonably good.
