You can't get more central than our Premier Inn Darlington hotel. It's the perfect location for the shops and bars that this historic market town has to offer. You're just five minutes' walk from Darlington Civic Theatre and just two minutes away from the Dolphin Centre swimming pool and gym. One mile up the road is the fascinating Head of Steam Darlington Railway Museum and in under an hour are the rolling Yorkshire Dales and the rugged North Moors. Back at the hotel, don't miss out on a delicious meal at our on-site Thyme restaurant and then relax in one of our new- generation bedrooms, boasting our luxury kingsize Hypnos bed and 40" flat screen TV.
This has been my hotel of choice when I’m staying in Darlington for a while now – and it never disappoints. I stayed for two nights this week and whenever I stay, rooms are spotlessly clean and the staff always make a real effort to make sure everything is right. In particular, Claire, Allie and Bex ( I think that’s her name) really deserve a mention. They have a great way of dealing with guests. I ate in the restaurant both evenings and both meals were cooked perfectly. They went out of their way to make sure everything was just right. They truly deserve credit. I always look forward to staying here!

Rockliffe Hall is the only five red star hotel in the North of England. Set on a magnificent 18th century estate on the banks of the River Tees, Rockliffe Hall is a destination in itself. Rockliffe Hall's world-class spa and golf course, well-equipped meeting rooms, three restaurants and sublime service ensure it is the perfect place to escape and relax, to do business, and to create memories that will linger on.
We stayed here for our anniversary. The room was beautiful and absolutely immaculately clean. There was lots of space, lovely views and the bed was very comfy. The reception staff were excellent and very friendly. The spa was pleasant, although there were a lot of children at all times of the day, so not particularly relaxing. There was a small over 18s area however. The staff seemed quite miserable and dismissive. The cocktail bar staff were attentive and there was a good selection of alcoholic drinks and also mock tails on offer. Breakfast was a big let down! We were left waiting in the corridor as the staff saw us, but continued with their conversation. We were shown to a table and asked what drinks we’d like, but then waited for a good 10 minutes for the tea and coffee we had asked for, despite there only being two other tables having breakfast. Our toast order was taken incorrectly and then when our breakfast arrived, it was clear that the produce was not that of a 3 AA* restaurant. Not only was the quality not of a high standard, the sausages had been pre-cooked and reheated so was extremely dry and was crispy where the meat touched the inside of the sausage skin. The fried eggs looked like they’d been sat there for a long time. The staff were also fairly miserable. Very disappointing! We would return to the hotel, but would not eat there.

Imposing Georgian Country Mansion, dating from 1700, with modern extension.
I stayed for business over the jubilee bank holiday. Check in was easy, and was offered help with my bags. Arriving in the room, you can tell the hotel had recently undergone refurbishment. The mattress was incredibly comfortable, very firm too. The bathroom was very modern. The extractor fan didn’t appear to work, but I just left the door open instead. There were quite a few private functions, weddings and such, happening over the weekend. As the hotel is on private land, they do not have to adhere to the 11pm quiet time rule, so there was some music playing up to 12am. As I was very tired, this didn’t affect me as much as it might’ve, but I wasn’t expecting functions to run into the night. WiFi speed was average, but reliable. I was able to receive a download and upload speed of around 30Mbps, which I didn’t have a problem with. This is more than capable for streaming and even ‘working from home’, or the hotel in this case. Unfortunately, I was left feeling extremely disappointed with the breakfast offering. My room rate included breakfast, but please note that it is an optional add on for £12.95 if not included. Before I comment on quality, I want to express further disappointment surrounding availability. During the bank holiday, breakfast wasn’t served until 8am, which is rather late for most. This meant I was actually only able to eat breakfast for two of my five nights. The breakfast is a cooked offering, but all of the food is pre cooked and stored in heated containers. As you can imagine, ingredients such as mushrooms, and eggs especially were almost inedible. For a four star hotel, I was shocked when I was informed that the breakfast was buffet-style. This is definitely something that would hinder my decision to stay again in the future.

Stayed for one night as we were attending the Killers and Manic Street Preachers gig in Middlesborough. It's no frills comfortable accommodation at a great price and perfect for 1 or 2 nights. The reception staff at Darlington were probably the friendliest smiley people I've met. Huge bed but a little firm although I appreciate mattresses differ with each individual. My pet hate is a shower curtain, would much rather have a glass screen, however I would stay again.

Attractive Georgian Country House with original portions dating from 1540, set in 69 acres of park & woodlands.
Our whole stay was perfect. Mandy went above and beyond to make sure our experience was spot on. My little boy likes to stay at local hotels as he has complex heart problems restricting him from flying and Mandy was amazing, told us all about where we could take photos, gave us a room with a beautiful view and made him feel very special. We ate in the resteraunt and the food was really nice. The breakfast was also spot on. We had a cooked breakfast and there was lots of continental options especially for kids. Our room was very clean and smelt clean as soon as you walked in the room. We had room 52, bathroom was spotless! Large TV, very spacious and the toiletries smelt amazing. We used the swimming pool twice and were impressed with the services. The pool was warm, access to the jacuzzi, steam room etc. The changing rooms were very clean and trolly coins were provided for the lockers. Towels were provided, carrier bags available for wet swim wear and the hair dryers were powerful. The grounds are beautiful, there's a river, deer hut, pet cemetery, secret garden and large golf course. It looks to be a great wedding venue. Inside the hotel, the bar was very modern, space to work and hold functions. The wedding room also looked very nice. There is also a lounge and library with sofas to chill with multiple outdoor seating areas with comfy wicker seating. We were free to explore the hotel and grounds and every member of staff we spoke to were so friendly and helpful. There was ample parking and free WiFi throughout the hotel. We will definitely be staying again and would highly recommend this hotel to other people.

Welcomed by really nice friendly staff, can’t fault the service, welcoming and nice. The room was just your average premier inn room and they are all pretty much the same but this one was ever so slightly run down with sone marks and dirt on the wall and a few little issues but nothing too major. The reason for my lower score was mainly the breakfast and price. I have stayed in many pre over inns, some £30 a night and some more and the quality has usually been the same. This was the higher end, and the breakfast was the worst I have had. The different breakfast sections were dotted about all over and the queues sort of all merged into one and it was chaos. The coffee machine broke so that queue was even longer. They tried today to charge me again for the breakfast despite being paid for and when I said I had already paid I just got told to speak to the manager. The hot food was a buffet type breakfast, I picked up a plate and burnt myself as they were that hot, I like a hot plate but a bit of warning would have been nice. The eggs were undercooked and like jelly and the bacon looked good but was actually just like rubber and chewy and not great. I wouldn’t ever make these comments of the room was £30 but when it was the top end of premier inn prices it seemed expensive for what it was.

The hotel is superbly located in the heart of the historic market town, with ideal access to the A1 train st. and airport. Originally built in the 1600s as a Coaching Inn, rebuilt in 1893, and after a 6 million pounds sterling complete refurbishment in 2012, the hotel proudly harmonises its original features with a contemporary designer led style that reflects the hotel's personality. Boasting 83 stylish bedrooms, superior conference and banqueting suites, along with elegantly fashionable rest and bars.
Room was spacious, stylish and exceptionally clean. Staff were unbelievably helpful and friendly despite it being busy due to half term hols and jubilee BH. Food was also great too. We had our evening meal and breakfast as part of a package deal and were surprised at the amount of choice and quality of the food. Staff in the restaurant were attentive and happy to offer information about the local area. Special mention to Lee and Jess who went above and beyond despite being so busy, nothing was too much trouble and very good humoured as well. Overall, excellent value for money and would definitely stay again.
