Not planned but a welcoming hotel from first encounter to last

Reviewed By Greg M

My wife and I were going to another location and unfortunately our car broke down on the M8. PJ (an absolute gentleman - he'll know who he is if he reads this) in the recovery truck got us booked into this hotel at the last minute. While both of us were more than happy to get off the M8 safe and sound, staying in this hotel was a pleasant experience. Check in was easy and uncomplicated. We stayed in the family room to the front of the hotel which comprised a double, a single and a fold away bed. The double bed was very comfortable and we had a very good sleep. There was no discernible noise in the morning from the street allowing us to have an uninterrupted sleep until well after 8.30am. Breakfast was served in the morning. There is full waiter service and everything is brought to the table. As we ate our Cornflakes our hot breakfast was cooked fresh. We were served by two staff. I only got Stephen's name but both were exceptionally attentive and pleasant. Nothing was a bother to either of them. We were able to leave our luggage at reception while we waited for the Dublin bus. During that time we were able to amble up to the Rock of Cashel and view some of the sights of Cashel. Although not a planned trip by any stretch of the imagination I have nothing but praise and admiration for Baileys and any of the people we encountered. Thank you.

Removed facilities , increased prices , cubicle showers out of order for months meaning having to shower daughter with men as no family changing rooms. Explained my views on this , and was told they would not be reinstating advertised facilities (outdoor hot tub) and they were waiting for parts for shower (6 months) . When asked for refund as terms of use had changed was told no. Won't be returning once time runs out.

I was told I was the second person that day that complained about the fish Overall a really bad meal

I wish I could have gotten sleep and had hot water

Reviewed By 307RC

I asked for a quiet room. I was on the 3rd floor and was hoping to get to sleep due to a big event the next day. Unfortunately given it was so hot I had to open the window at night. I one to sleep at 11pm and was woken at 1am due to a "boy racer" speeding up and down the road outside on the main street. I was going to ring the reception or Gardai but waited and it ended one hour later. At 2am there was then a lot of activity on my floor by people coming in from the bar or outside. There was lots of door slamming and movement between rooms next to me. Indeed someone tried to get into my room - I assume they were not sure which room number they had booked. I got to sleep at 4am and was up again at 7am for the event I had to go to. I was awakened to the sound of staff below my window outside on the ground. The morning after next I was due to check out and there was no hot water. I could not take a shower and left without being able to clean myself. Luckily I did not have any meeting I needed to go to that morning! I mentioned all these issues to the reception and got no apology or reduction in my food bill etc! Management will reply to me and tell me that I should have run the reception at 1,2,3,4am to mention this but I am not sure about whether this would have achieved anything. Certainly I received a standard form the email from the hotel looking for feedback but a week later I have got no response. Perhaps it was too much to expect a quiet room and hot water. The recession is coming.
