Unfolding the History of Chittorgarh: Chittorgarh is a city in Rajasthan which is located on the banks of river Gambhiri and Berach. The district was bifurcated and a new district namely Pratap Garh was created with certain portion taken from Udaipur district in the newly created district of Pratap Garh. This city of Chittorgarh is the epitome of pride, romance and spirit, for people of Chittor who always chose death before surrendering against anyone. Bassi Fort Palace is the epitome of the glorious history of the Chundawat clan. It was built way back in in the 16th century by Thakur Jaimal of the Sisodia dynasty, cousin of Maharana Pratap who is a distinct part of the history, founder of the Bassi principality. The 16th century Bassi Fort Palace by Tuma Hotels India is just a fleeting distance of 25 km from Chittorgarh. It is amidst the hills of the Vindhyachal ranges and makes a perfect break and an embrace of Heritage India.
There are lot of conflicting reviews about this place so I will try to clarify the same which will help future travellers to make a decision accordingly. If one is looking for a luxurious/new age property with all creature comforts I would recommend look closer to udaipur. You will be better served. But for those okay to pay a premium to stay in a haveli which is 100s of years old with neat and clean air conditioned rooms (room standard equivalent to a 3 star hotel. Overall heritage value is priceless) look no further. Real village experience right outside the gate. Caring staff who provide mouth watering home style food. A brilliant open air sit out area outside the rooms. An half hour drive to explore the majestic chittorgarh fort. To top it all if you have the good fortune to spend an evening with Col Sisodia, the part owner, who shares stories and facts about the rich history of the region and his family, then it's a completely unique experience. Would definitely recommend if one enjoys the above and wants to experience it first hand. In the pandemic most hospitality outfits have been adversely affected and are slow on the take. In our experience, have patience and clearly ask for what you want from the staff and you shouldnt be dissapointed.

Haveli Gokul Niwas is a traditional house of Rajputs of Jhala clan, desendents of Jhala Maan of Badisadri, who sacrificed his life for Maharana Pratap in the great battle of Haldighati (1576 AD) against Mughal Emperor Akbar. Haveli Gokul Niwas offers a showcase of rural life of the traditional state of Rajasthan.

A fantastic stop on our trip through Rajasthan. A magnificent residence on a property in gentle decay. A great room. Very friendly staff. A wonderful dinner in the middle of a courtyard. Ajay was a great host. A trip to the summer palace is a must. If you are driving though the area this is a great one or two night stay.

Bhainsrorgarh Fort is one of the finest Boutique Forts Hotels in south eastern Rajasthan and stands overlooking an expanse of the Chambal River. It is one of the most picturesque and awe-inspiring forts of Rajasthan. This fortified outpost of the erstwhile kingdom of Mewar (Udaipur) sits majestically on a rocky cliff that rises from the bank of the Chambal River. Located 235 km northeast of Udaipur and 50 km south of Kota, the fort was built in 1741 AD. The fortress has been restored to its old world charm by the present family that continues to live in the same precincts. The Fort wall encompasses a thriving village, possibly one of the few in the country to be contained within the fort. The gently restored Palace within Bhainsrorgarh Fort can be accessed over a bridge built on the Chambal or by a boat transfer that takes you to the edge of the fort where the cenotaphs of the family are located. Besides there is the endless charm of exploring on your own in the well-tended gardens, village, farms, cenotaphs and surrounding ruins.Guest can keep themselves busy with various activities like: Boat Ride in the Chambal River, Visit to the 9th Century Badoli Temples, Drive to the tribal villages by Jeep in the evening; catching the magic of dusk as we stop for tea or a sundowner at a scenic spot on the banks of the chambal river. You can also enjoy a picnic on an island or a drive to the Mukundarrah National Park which is great for birding. The walk to the village market is also very popular with our guests. You can also try your luck at angling in the river below where you can hook the famous Mahseer Fish.
I hope to return here someday. I really liked exploring the grounds and crossing a tributary of the mighty river on the swinging cable bridge. We stayed in a large room in the old castle and ate a nice meal prepared by the gracious old noble family.

A 350 year old Castle set amidst the Vindhyanchal hills. The Castle is run as a heritage hotel by the ruling family. The Castle enjoys a scenic location as it is surrounded by hills, lakes, forests and farms. Facilities include: Swimming Pool, Massage, Jeep Safari, Horse Rides, Yoga, Birdwatching, Tribal tours, Cultural evenings.
Thé hôtel is well maintained heritage property. The castle and it’s grounds are very charming. We enjoyed exploring the same. We also indulged in house riding and a night Safari both of which were really a lot of fun. A better chef and food options would get this hotel a perfect score. The food was average at best.

Rooms were very clean and well maintained with very good facilities. It's just 5 mins from the fort. We stayed on a Monday, so probably the service was slow. Food was also ok, and staff are friendly. They even arranged for a guide who was great.
