Arrived at 7.50pm to find staff packing up for the day. Everything spa related closed. Could not get on wifi, could not get help. Went down to village for dinner and could not get back in. Luckily we found a guest whose key did work. Parking is a long way away if you have heavy bags and is a public car park. No food at hotel. After 8pm you cannot even get a bottle of water. Staff cannot speak English.

We stayed here for two nights to celebrate my birthday. What a special find. Beautiful quiet countryside location, very comfortable bedrooms, lovely breakfast and charming, friendly owners. Add all this into the on-site golf course, lovely garden, swimming pool and hot tub and you’ve got the perfect place to stay if you’re visiting Chaudes-Aigues. Thank you so much Beatrice and Bruno.

Great village with interesting bits to see. Central location of hotel. Nice clean, if small, room. Perfectly nice. Nice warm pool. Excellent basic french food. Very enjoyable and good value. Would we stay again, yes.

The Serge Vieira restaurant, reviewed plenteously elsewhere, is extraordinary in every way. You will have the culinary experience of your dreams. To ice the cake, book one of the three gorgeous rooms continguous to the restaurant. There is not much to do in Chaudes-Aigues beyond spa treatments, and Serge Vieira is located just out of town (signage could be better) alone atop a hill with splendid views. Bottom line is you DO want to eat here, but you don't want to drive back to town afterwards. Spoil yourself with a splurge worth every single penny. This is quite simply the ideal stopover in an exceptionally scenic region. Avail yourself without hesitation.

Coin Aubrac comprises two buildings situated at the quiet top-end of the town, opposite the health spa and within walking distance from the centre. We stayed in Le Castel, reminiscent of an old warehouse, which has been converted into seven apartments. A small stream separated us from the larger residence, which also housed a restaurant on the ground floor. There was free allocated parking for the seven apartments at the rear of the building. The apartment was spacious and comfortable, but not as clean as we would have liked. The air vents were clogged with dirt, the set of saucepans were in such bad condition that we avoided using them, and the socks we wore were soon discoloured by dirt from the tiled floor. Our view of the stream was marred by old builders’ rubble abandoned under the terrace of the restaurant. Not a pretty sight. But the bed was comfortable.and the building quiet. We had dinner in the restaurant - a set menu on a Saturday night, with a talented pianist providing non-stop music. The food was good, although we were not impressed with the main course - a skinny half-lobster which surrendered little meat. However, the choice of wines and local beers was impressive. We stayed five nights and it served our purpose, enabling us to explore the local region - quite wild and unspoilt. Food shopping was a challenge, as we only found one small cramped convenience store in the town. The nearest supermarkets were some distance away in St Flour and Laguiole.

Beautiful location for our cycling party of 18 however the chap in charge was clearly bullied by the girls at school !! He was clearly on a day off when the rest of his staff attended the Anglo-French "entente cordiale" course. He was simply rude, rude and rude. Had we been informed initially that we must strip every bed, fold the bedsheets, brush the floors, clean the bathrooms and kitchens to ensure safe return of our €300 deposit, we would have insisted that every chalet was spotless on our arrival. As it was we were shouted at (because if you shout loud enough the other person will clearly understand), gesticulated at and tutted at before being frog marched (excuse the pun) from chalet to chalet to ensure we deserved our deposit back. If you enjoyed the series "Tenco" in the 80's then this place is perfect.
