Fantastic edge of town stopover

Reviewed By Rob68W

Fantastic staff, clean room and bathroom. Very comfy bed, had an extra pillow from reception and comfy sleep. Breakfast was great and plentiful. Car park was secure. Just needs a kettle in the room as the coffee machine didn't provide tea. For a budget edge of town stopover this is as good as it gets.

A fantastic hotel in a fantastic convenient location.

The hotel is stunning and located perfectly for walking around the town. The staff were all polite and courteous and we were lucky to book spaces in their private, secure under-cover car park with their valet parking service. We had an amazing room, beautifully decorated - very grand indeed. The bar area was great with excellent service.

Great staff but but not so great room

Reviewed By williamSBW

The front desk staff was impeccable. The room we stayed in was damp and humid. The AC was not working and the window couldn’t be open for safety reason. We found used band-aid on the floor and one of the pillow case was stained (I’m sure that it was clean though but still… it grossed me out) What we forgot in the room was never to be returned. I called them as soon as I realized what I had left behind. But it was already too late. The cleaning lady couldn’t find what I left on the nightstand…. If you are not bothered by the heat and humidity when you sleep, if you do not mind to see some of your stuff disappear. Then you should go ahead and book a room. You won’t be disappointed.

Good hotel

I use this Chartres hotel regularly as a stop driving down through France. really helpful staff and clean and comfortable. One point is the doors to the internal fire escape close so heavily that they shake the rooms nearby. The closers should have a dual action , with a damper to close the last few centimeters quietly without compromising the fire performance of the door. Just need a skilled engineer to set these up right. It would guarantee a more peaceful night's sleep.

Great hotel with hardworking employees

Reviewed By Eva921

We stayed in this hotel for one night after a long journey of 1000km. When the receptionist Serges heard this he did his best to give us a comfortable room. Our two dogs were also welcome! Since we arrived late we hadn't eaten so I tried to order take away. The night shift receptionist, Uthisten was so kind to help me order because my French is really bad and the businesses nearby couldn't speak English either. Luckily if you don't speak French like me this hotel is great for you because the employees speak perfect English. We slept exceptionally well in the soft and comfortable beds and enjoyed the fresh and delicious breakfast. We highly recommend this hotel if you pass through Chartres.

Extremely disappointed

Reviewed By janicel221

For the price charged the room was very basic no air conditioning and only one small sachet of soap containing 1.1 fluid ounces of soap for two people. Very thin thread bare towels and for the price not competitive with other venues. This fact was born out by the number of cars in the car park. 18 months ago it was difficult to book this hotel. Nowadays its easy because the cost far outweighs facilities. I counted only 9 cars in the car park on my stay and it used to be difficult to find a spot

Good pit-stop stay

Reviewed By chrisgA8394HP

We travel from England to the Limousin three times a year and Chartres is a good half-way stop over. We've stayed at other hotels which were only a little cheaper but a full grade of quality below this Novotel. From outside it is hardly attractive and the only merit for the design is that you can clearly see it from the main road ! But inside it looks very new and welcoming. We liked the teddy bears. This is clearly catering largely for one-night stays including children. The room is one of the best we've seen in this class. Excellent sized bed; enormous telly; bathroom and shower are fine, a five-star rating for the accommodation. Staff were friendly and helpful. Plenty of space for visitors to sit about outside with a splendid pool area though it may be crowded in high summer. The meal was actually cheap but as usual wine very expensive. The dinner was inventive but meat courses for myself and the table next to us were overcooked and tasteless - a pity after the waitress warned me the Jamaican chicken was highly spiced ! Breakfast next morning was better : a wide range. Good value and we will be happy to comeback next time but will be more choosy over the dinner.

Lovely staff; non-smoking room smelt strongly of cigarette smoke

Reviewed By Sally M

We have stayed here many times and, as usual, the staff were lovely. However, there was an unfortunate mix-up with the room (due to other guests going into the wrong room because they had found the door open) which meant that our key opened the door to a room that was already occupied. The room that we were then allocated smelt very strongly of cigarette smoke, despite being a non-smoking room. We should have asked to move but as there had already been the mix-up and we were tired after a long journey, we stayed in the room. We did mention it to the staff the following morning so that they knew that it was not us who had been smoking. We got a slightly disappointing response (' We do find that some people do smoke in non-smoking rooms and you should have asked us for some room freshener').
