Main road location not far from motorway. Very popular terrace, restaurant and cafe. Good reception and covered parking available, otherwise ample on street parking. Excellent dinner and continental breakfast. Not far to pretty seaside town but very busy there and limited parking. Stopped here as it was on the way to Santander to get the ferry. Prices reasonable. Newish hotel. Spacious well furnished rooms.

The Marqués de la Moral Hotel is located in the small spa town of Naveces. Just 1km from the beach of Santa Maria del Mar, and less than 10 minutes from Asturias airport. Besides having good connections with major cities such as Oviedo Aviles and Gijon. The hotel features spacious, private bathroom and fully equipped rooms, with the possibility of an extra bed in each. In common areas you will find a cafeteria and restaurant with two large halls where events, there is also a large garden area with an Asturian "Horreo" and a playground. Among the facilities the hotel include wireless and free private parking.
We booked the Marqués de la Moral hotel because it was fairly priced in comparison to Cudillero hotel and it was only 10-15 minutes away by car. The hotel has an extensive parking area so no need to worry about it. Rooms were ok and large, but they lacked a fridge. However, the staff were super kind and placed our stuff in the hotel's refrigerators ?. The surrounding area of the hotel is super nice with great views and lots of trees and flowers. I loved the smell and the peace in the yard in the early morning. Wifi was provided, but a little slow.

We stayed at alamar surf house for one week, during a surf trip to spain. We had a shared room for four people, which is located in the basement of the building, with a separate entrance (different from the main entrance of the house) next to the backyard where the surfboards/wetsuits are stored. The fact that the surf house rooms/shared rooms are located in the basement means that the window of a room is either facing directly to the backyard where surfing class assembles in the morning or to the side where the restaurant of the house is located. In both cases, you will have noise, which might be annoying, depending of how sensitive you are. There are other rooms in the house, which seem to be reserved for non-surfing guests. Our room in the basement faced to the other side of the backyard where the restaurant is located. This means we had loud noise till late at night, and we had to close the window when going to sleep. What was especially annoying was the fact that it was not allowed to put wet clothes/wetsuit on the window bench because of the adjacent restaurant. Thats really silly, considering we booked a room in a surf house, and for four people, there was just not enough space to dry our clothes within the room. A bit of a surprise was the breakfast, because there is the "upper class" breakfast in a nice room inside of the house, with a good food selection, and then there is the "lower class" breakfast for the surfers, which is outside in the restaurant area. You are not allowed to take part in the "upper class" breakfast as a surfer, and the selection is worse, as well as the service probably. The buffet contains toast, butter, marmalade, sweets, orange juice, coffee, milk, chocolate flakes, and some fruits (like a few apples, at times 2-3 bananas, or a couple of kiwis). The breakfast is from 9 to 11, but even if you arrive early, there is a good chance that no bread is left, fruits are gone, or no clean dishes/cups/glasses are left. It will take a while for the waitress to bring you a really small can of coffee, or get some dishes/cups for you. We ended up buying stuff for breakfast in the supermarket nearby. This is especially a bit crappy because you could not see from the website that you will receive the lower tier breakfast. While the staff is friendly when you go up to them and ask them questions, it seems like they don't care too much about guests at all. When we arrived, we were not introduced to anything apart from beeing told that our breakfast will be outside. We had to ask for towels which were missing in our room, and we had to ask for toilet paper for both our room as well as the shared bathroom on the upper level. It seems like they try to have a normal hotel, a dedicated restaurant and a surf school in one place, which - in my opinion - does not work out well. The location of the house is perfect, as you will reach the beach on foot in some 5 minutes or so, also interesting restaurants, bars, supermarket/ATMs are close by.

A really special Hostel
I arrived in the late afternoon and called the number on the door-- the landlady came very quickly (I think that the Cactus is connected with a nearby surfer's school) and let me in. She was very helpful and spoke English well. The room was small, but very clean. As others commented, there is a good price-quality ratio. I went to the asador restaurant beside the Cactus, and dinner was reasonable and of good quality. Sleep was difficult, partly because my room faced on the street and partly on account of a very affectionate couple next door. Breakfast was ready early, and better than the standard Spanish breakfast. If you can manage a room facing the back and if your neighbours are less athletic, it is a good pilgrim stop.

We booked this hostel since we wanted to go surfing for a few days, meet nice people and have a good time. However, when we arrived, first of all nobody spoke English at all, and they didn't really seem to care. Anyway, after that they told us that they are fully booked. After we showed them our document which stated that we already paid, they charged us 15 Euros extra and sent us to a nearby hotel where we got a private room for 3 persons. Unfortunately the hotel was located far away from the beach right above a gas station (!) and next to the main street. No atmosphere at all, no surfing. We can't really judge the hostel itself since we only were inside quickly, however what we saw looked really run down and dirty. Would not recommend this place at all.

El pez Escorpion is a beautiful lodge and surf academy in Asturias, located on Salinas beach front. This is an ideal place, with views to one of the most spectacular beaches on the Cantabric Sea, for those who want to enjoy surfing, outdoors sports and other choices that Asturias north shore offers. Our guests will discover that our beach hostel and its great sea views are the best starting point to recharge the energy, enjoy a positive atmosphere and have access to the great variety of activities related to the ocean, sports, healthy lifestyle and good.
We had a great stay at this hostel. As we were a family of 4 we could use a hole room for ourselves. The common areas are very cozy and stylish decorated. Bathrooms and toilets extreamly clean, you dont feel like you are sharing them with the rest of the guests. Beds are bunks so children on top and parents down, just like going back to college times :-) The staff is so friendly you feel like being friends with all of them. Surfing lessons were fun and felt safe as they take care of the amount of people per instructor (respect!). Breakfast was fresh and delicious, Merce took really good care of that. Thank you Carlos & Co. for a lovely week :-)
