Named "the only place in the world where snow falls upside down" by Ripley's-Believe-It-Or-Not, the legendary Blowing Rock geological formation has been attracting visitors to its corner of North Carolina since 1933. The accompanying mountain village of Blowing Rock sits 4,000 feet above sea level along the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway. The winter brings enough snow to the nearby Blue Ridge Mountain peaks that it is possible to ski the south, staying over at one of Blowing Rocks charming B&Bs.

The Homestead Inn is awesome! Rooms are quaint, cozy, and immaculate! Rooms include high speed internet, fridge, microwave, coffee pot, flat screen tv with DVD players, hairdryer, and toiletries. Some rooms have a fireplace and/or jacuzzi. We are located in a beautiful setting, just half a block from downtown, and less than 5 miles from the ski slopes and all of Blowing Rock’s other main attractions; including: the Blue Ridge Parkway, Appalachian State University, Tanger Outlets, etc. We are known for our award winning gardens and flowers and provide a swing, gazebo, picnic table, fire pit, dog walk area, and grill area in the middle of it for all of our guests. Room smelled bad so we left after a few hours. The smell was making it difficult for me to breathe. I didn't make a big deal of it nor did I ask for a refund of our nearly $300. Manager literally rolled her eyes when I told her why I was turning our keys in. Didn't apologize. Didn't try to make things right. Just rudely asked for their parking pass back.

Had lunch at Timberlake's. Food was great, service prompt. They deserve a lot of credit, it seems the labor shortage has effected dinner service. They weren't able to serve dinner the 22nd through the 26th. The staff was still upbeat and the atmosphere welcoming...

Our guests are close to businesses like Samaritan's Purse, and Appalachian State University is just a short drive away, too. Arrived at the hotel. There was a sign on the front desk counter telling guests that there would be no water available at the hotel til 4pm. I asked the front desk clerk about this and he shrugged and said he didn't know what had happened, didn't know how long it would be this way but it would likely be for the rest of the evening. When I asked to speak to a manager I was told the manager was too busy in a meeting to speak to me. I insisted that the manager be asked to come out and assist me with why we, as guests, were not advised of this issue prior to arrival and if they would assist in finding another hotel, but the front desk clerk refused to help. He stood there eating a Twizzler and ignoring me. Based on this uncalled for experience, I would never stay at this hotel or any Holiday Inn, again.

I wouldn't recommend staying here. The night I stayed, I paid extra for a jacuzzi suite (the only reason I paid extra for that room), and the jacuzzi didn't work. The next day I emailed management about the issue and how disappointed I was. Eleven days later I finally received a response, saying they couldn't replicate the issue I had and that they were sorry I was dissatisfied. After they emailed me, I immediately emailed back, yet I have not received any further communication from them. It's been 4 weeks since their last email, and over a month since our stay. I think that's more than enough time for them to make things right. I feel that I was really nice and accommodating about this issue, and that they could have at least offered to refund us the difference between a standard room and the jacuzzi room (I think it was about $40). Images of our correspondence attached.

Boutique hotel with wonderful panoramic views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and Lake Chetola. Most of our huge rooms have private decks and all have the modern amenities of New Pillow top Mattresses, Premium cable Channels played on Flat Screen TV, High Speed WIFI, mini refrigerators, coffee makers, and a complimentary breakfast. If you are traveling with your furry friend we have a number of rooms that are pet friendly.
this place I cannot recommend. Noone was there when I arrived first - not even at the time, they said they would be there. The room smelled badly and the floors were quite dirty. When I wanted to brew coffee in the morning, I realized there was still cold coffee in the pot from some other guests... When I left in the morning, the office was closed again. Noone there, again.
