Reviewed By bgrant722Navaal is on the forgotten Peninsula of Batticaloa which was ravaged by the Tsunami in 2009. this charming 10 room hotel has large clean rooms with Ac and the chef cooks well. value for money their is no better place in Batticaloa. you near upscale option is Pasakuda bay but you will pay three times the price.

Reviewed By THATSGOTTABEOUTFriendly, low key place. Staff are very pleasant and will do best to accommodate you. It's absolutely fine for a couple of nights. What you have to be aware of with Riviera resort is some of the rooms are shipping containers. They are airless places with short (5 ft?) beds advertised as "couples rooms"! Sounds enticing but unfortunately it's not! This is my only issue. Apart from that the food is good and the staff are nice.

We, a team of members from NPTA (Northern Province Tourism Association) visited this property as part of our learning visit to the Eastern Province. Mala herself a very active and interesting host. Pool small; on the one hand good (bathrooms with showers) on the other hand restrictive (weird rule about not being allowed to use 'solo if unattended', and no pool towels. Breakfast totally insufficient for tourists: continental part was toast and jam (& tea & lemonade), no fruits no eggs. For the rest all spicy Lankan breakfast dishes,

Transport yourself to the 17th Century as you watch the fishermen cast their nets from their canoes by the Dutch Fort, and imagine how it would have been for the Dutch administrators who lived in this house. With arguably the best verandah in Batticaloa, 15 Lady Manning Drive has a superb view of the Dutch Fort and provides comfortable accommodation for those who want to experience a slice of Batticaloa history.

Reviewed By Barbara MWill we ever tire of sitting on the veranda here, taking in the fantastic view across the water to the fort and Ghandi gardens. No !! It's worth coming just to take in the history of the building with it's array of Dutch colonial furniture. We are always well looked after by Mallar and Ranjan and the food is just out of this world.

Great dives with a very knowledgeable dive buddy
Reviewed By KJulianI did a couple of fun dives with Fili (the owner of the resort and from the look of it the go to man for the H.M.S Hermes) . As I am just qualified as an open water diver, Fili took me to the white rock and Boiler wrecks. Both of them are full of fish life and sea sponges. As I am still new to the dive scene Fili was very patient and guided me through the equipment and the dives. highly recommend Batticaloa (as it not as popular as Hikkaduwa and Trincomalee) and Fili for any dives. I thoroughly enjoyed mine and will be back

About us: Hamsaam Villa is a small, friendly and secure guest house with a family atmosphere at Kallady, which is 5 minutes drive from the Batticaloa town. The surrounding neighborhood is quiet, safe and is within easy reach of both the beach and the lagoon. Facilities like breakfast, lunch and dinner available at the request of the guests. The popular Passikudah beach is only 30 minutes drive from our guest house.

Reviewed By Bouncy_BoycyWe stayed here for the day. The room was ok. A/C worked. Its a short tuk ride from the town. Closer to the Kallady bridge. Did not eat. Generally ok. Owner was helpful and welcoming. The lagoon was a short walk away. Ok budget option.
