As an American who had never experienced a German spa it was quite different than what we were used to . Once you let down your modest American beliefs on being around people without clothes you will be fine. The spa is beautiful and the family that owns it work so hard to ensure everyone has a pleasant stay . We booked a room in the Bad hotel and added dinner and breakfast and it was so easy and wonderful . We had a beautiful balcony room overlooking the funicular and the room was spacious . The bad hotel is so quiet and the downstairs reminded me a beautiful classic hotel from the 50s which we loved . Dinner was delicious as well as breakfast . Champagne fresh fruit juices were on the breakfast line . The bad hotel has a elevator down to a tunnel which connects you directly to the spa . Everything is in German and it is kind of confusing to get your lay of the land when you first arrive and add to the fact that most people do not have clothes on in the spa . You cannot translate on your phone so you just have to figure it out . Alot of areas are textile free which means no clothes . If you are new to this type of spa I would recommend starting in the blue pool and then as you get more more comfortable try the saunas which you must have towel to sit on . You must wear spa slippers and remove them before getting into sauna . There is overly cafeteria at bottom of spa where you ca have beers or a snack which we found on the second day and there were nice little whirlpools which were smaller and more intimate . The owner is so lovely and she checked us in and there is another worker who we saw at almost all meals she works so hard and ensures you have a good stay . Bad wild bald is a beautiful city and perfect for a long weekend and this spa and stay was a truly unique beautiful experience once you drop your cultural inhibitions that the USA has sort of instilled in usa . I hope to return for another visit at some point to this beautiful oasis .

This place does not pretend to be great. It just is, in everything you see you notice a caring personal touch. Second time we have stayed here for 7days and we enjoyed as much as the first. Also our 4year old daughter had so much fun in this marvelous place since there's a children's playground nearby. And for anyone who wanted to immerse themselves to nature it is absolutely perfect in all senses,we booked an apartment room in which every little detail had been carefully thought out and designed as had all area's of the guesthouse, spacious and exceptionally clean. The same could be' said about breakfast, here too, it was available for several hours in the morning and provided plenty of options from variety of cheeses, biological honey, fresh homemade bread, teas, and juices. But what really stood out where this hotel is concerned is the warm hospitality offered by the wonderful couple Milka and Holger, they would have done anything to make us or anyone else more comfortable that let you makes feel like home.Overall,I would highly recommend this hotel and we would coming back here again and again.

A classic German resort-community hotel. The original building dates from the turn of the century, it was expanded with an addition around the 1960s. Very quiet & comfortable (caters to an older crowd, no loud parties), large rooms, excellent breakfast in the morning, about a 5 minute walk to the spa. The property is a bit old-fashioned, but extremely well maintained. I would happily return.

Well-run hotel with attention to detail. Spotlessly clean, spacious room - at an excellent rate with no single-supplement to be paid. Delicious breakfast with plenty of choice on offer. The attitude of the family is generous & extremely kind. Good English is spoken. Support staff also polite & hard working. The décor is not modern but quirky & pleasing. There is a lift for clients' use. The hotel is a few steps away from where the train sets you down - the town is intriguing with plenty to explore & very pretty.

Family run Hotel with a wide range of Wellness facilities pool, Saunas, Regional cooking. Panoramic view overlooking the valley
Our family (4 adults) went for a relaxing weekend to the Black Forest and stayed at the Hotel Rothfuß. Some of the previous reviews did not sound too promising but our experience was considerably different. All of us liked their rooms (two single rooms, no. 25 and 27, one double room no. 24), all of which were recently renovated. The bathroom was spacious, I simply would have wished for more storage space around the sink. Also, as the shower doors opened into the bathroom, the bathroom floor got wet after taking a shower. During the night, a lamp on the balcony wall that could not be switched off cast its light into my room. As I am quite sensitive to light at night and there we no shutters, only curtains that did not block the light completely, I did not sleep well. There had been so many bad reviews concerning the food, therefore I kept asking the others how they liked their dishes. The first evening we chose different main courses from the menu - the vegetarian pasta, the bouillabaisse, and twice the Piccata Milanese. The second evening all of us took the chicken curry, and each time the food was very good. You get a small appetizer, a soup, salad from the buffet, the main course, and dessert. Perhaps something could be done about the wheat beer that only comes in a 0.3 l bottle (0.5 l is the regular size) from a brewery in the black forest. It was funny to see that the non-alcoholic wheat beer had the right size and the beer containing alcohol looked tiny in comparison. In the mornings, I scrutinized the breakfast buffet. First of all, the nutella jar was there all the time although no children were at the hotel (a previous reviewer had claimed otherwise). Indeed, the plates for scrambled eggs and bacon are small but no-one stops you from returning to the buffet for a second or third helping. There is a big variety of jam, cold cuts, cheese, fish, fruit salad, fresh fruits, cereal, bread and rolls. The owner Ms. Richter and other staff were very friendly, helpful and professional. I also noticed that the waiters served us in the correct order respecting gender and age of the guests, which I rarely see anymore today. Our sitting arrangement made it more complicated for the wait staff to serve us in the mentioned order, so it was obvious that their behavior was not just coincidental. I did not try the swimming pool or the sauna, so I cannot judge those facilities. The hotel is located high up, so you need to park your car and then walk up a ramp. For elderly people who have trouble walking a location closer to the center of town might be more suitable. Then again, being higher up you have a great view over the valley and the adjacent mountains, and no traffic. However, the church bells ring every quarter hour except between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.

Very nice room in a very nice property, great breakfasts each morning, and as there was not a lot in the way of dining options in the area, there was a great dinner offered each day at a very reasonable price. Good base from which to explore the area, very clean rooms.

This is a very friendly and attractive place to stay in Bad Wildbad. We stayed there during the Rossini Festival - all the other guests were also there for the same reason. Our lovely large room - probably the best one - had a big balcony with a view over the funicular which is just a 5-minute walk away. There were quite a lot of stairs involved in getting to it. It had all that one might expect as far as I can remember, not sure about wifi, never tried. The location is very quiet, there is hardly any traffic along the small street that it is on. Breakfast was communal, served by the proprietor - and potentially sociable, if not actually so in our case, more due to our poor abilities in German. Mr Thilo has very good English. Car parking is an issue in the town, because of its topography, and there is no parking at the property at all, but it is only a short walk from one of the town's car parks and the pricing structure there is greatly in favour of the longer stay - a maximum of I think 8 Euros for one day, but we paid only 14 for 3 days. Also if you stay for more than 2 nights in the town you get a card which gives discounts and/or free travel including the funicular. If you are attending the Rossini Festival then you can walk to the venues through the large park entering just at the end of the road very easily and pleasantly in 10 minutes.

We stayed at this hotel for one night while travelling through Germany on our motorbike. We had booked into another hotel but this was double booked and the hotelier had very kindly arranged for us to stay here. We were not disappointed. The rooms are large, comfortable and clean. We were in a double room at the front of the hotel and had out own balcony which overlooked the main street. The beds were comfortable. There was also garage parking for the bike. The breakfast was continental and had plenty of selection. Would definitely recommend.
