Aswan is more idyllic than other cities in Egypt—located in southern Egypt, it’s a great place to explore that country’s epic history far away from the chaos of Cairo. Take a traditional wooden felucca around Elephantine Island and explore the ruins of the Temple of Khnum. This was a stop along the way for us, 2 of the 3 of us turned 40 this year and we went on a 3 week adventure. Visiting the Movenpick Aswan was a refreshing stay. The rooms were nice, the beds were comfortable, the bathrooms/showers were big enough for a couple of girls to be able to move around and get ready. All of the staff were so pleasant and friendly, especially guest relations and the restaurants. They even helped us celebrate our birthdays! Would absolutely stay here again and wished we were staying longer!

Extremely poor service and customer service. It already started bad before check in where we had to wait for 20 minutes at the harbor for the boat to pick us up to the hotel. They asked us to send our arrival time in advance, what we did. We had to wait one hour for our food and the meat was overlooked. Main concern is that the entire hotel is in the sun all day with temperature of 45°C during our stay. You don't have shadow to protect you and like the hotel is mostly white you get blinded. The communication with the staff is very limited unless the receptionist. I really don't recommand this hotel especially if you are a family

This place could be so much more than the overweight, aging spinster that it is. The air con in my room sounded like it was powered by a gasoline engine. It barely kept the room tolerable, despite being operational my whole stay. The wifi in my room didn't work. I asked for assistance on it, but help never came in my time there. The chair was too high to sit on at the desk, or the desk was too short, as my legs wouldn't fit underneath. No water provided in the room. The furniture was old and tired. The bed was hard. The staff was either too laid back or apathetic, take your pick of adjectives, but the result was the same. Breakfast was bland. The view from my room was grand, but the location of the hotel is on the edge of town, far away from the heart of things. On top of that, this huge property was nearly deserted while I was there, giving it a very odd feeling indeed. I'd take a cheap, noisy place in town if I were to come back, saving a few dollars and getting nearly the same experience.

This hotel has had many bad reviews and I was a little apprehensive about staying there. Yes the grounds and the rooms are a little tired and could do with some TLC but on the whole we had a very pleasant stay. Our room 319 was fine and had a lovely big balcony looking over to the West Bank of the Nile allowing for beautiful sunset views. It was cleaned every day and we had fresh bottles of water left every day. The breakfast and dinner were good and there was always a choice of at least four main courses to ensure everybody was catered for. The swimming pool was lovely, sunbeds clean and comfortable and the pool attendant was extremely friendly and attended our every need. He even made me a small posy of flowers. Access to the hotel is by boat from the last ferry point on the east Bank. Runs every ten minutes or so 24 hours a day and is free to use. We really had a pleasant stay and what we loved was the friendly nature of everyone we encountered there from reception staff to restaurant and bar staff to the shopkeepers selling souvenirs and the pool attendant. Lots of smiles, good banter and excellent service. They couldn't do enough for us. Sure the hotel was quiet but we were very satisfied with our stay.

Lovely guesthouse ! The most amazing place you can find in elephantine island. The garden looks luxurious and the venues are more than what you can expect for the price. We received a warm welcome and a great deal of trust. The personnel was very helpful and the owner helped us fill our days with lots of activities and visits. Careful with the drivers sometimes asking for more than they already got. Special thanks to Ahmed who was the best and most helpful driver of all.

We stayed at the Tolip Hotel for three nights and really enjoyed our stay. It is a very nice hotel with all the amenities you could want and boasted wonderful views over the Nile. Our room was very comfortable, and the staff could not be faulted The swimming pool area was a great place to relax but unfortunatly the water was a bit too cool for a relaxing swim,
