Bed & breakfast
Perfection has a name and it is called Palazzo Castriota. Rarely have I slept in a place where everything, really every single detail, is right: a monumental building renovated with taste and style by Salvatore Castriota, a descendant of the former owner, who runs the place with passion and eye for detail. It was like sleeping in a museum: this Palazzo is an ode to the past, while being equipped with the most modern techniques. Our room was spacious and tastefully decorated, had a most comfortable bed and even a pillow menu. Also the breakfast was incredible, with fresh fruit and all sorts of homemade delicacies. But what we liked most of all, was the warm welcome by Salvatore himself. Grazie mille!

Agriturismo Santa Chiara is a farm of ancient traditions surrounded by green olive and orange trees, a few kilometers from the sea of Gallipoli. Among the flavors and smells of the Salento countryside, Agriturismo Santa Chiara will make you live a unique experience, enhanced by the wonderful hospitality that has always distinguished, people and territory. The structure, restored by the Cataldi family using traditional materials and techniques, preserves the original type and volume of typical houses of Salento. The rooms for accommodation are equipped with every comfort and the typical restaurant - open on Saturday evenings and Sunday lunch - specializes in kitchen zero kilometer of genuine products and our own earth.
I see that others have rated this property much higher, but I simply can't understand why. Perhaps it was just August and everyone in Italy goes to Puglia, but I don't think so. This property is TIRED. When we arrived, we noticed that the grounds had not been maintained for some time. We found that the air conditioner in our room didn't work (the owner did his best to find a substitute system and we did get it repaired in two days time). Everything seems to have been neglected (see phots of cobwebs in chairs, broken rattan furniture, bad chairs at the pool). The breakfast was acceptable, but for the price it should have been much better. We were with friends (Italians) and when they were asked about the breakfast and said that there really wasn't anything they wanted (not a comment about the food but just about their dietary choices), the owner told them that he was kicking them out of the property. What?! He took their comment as an insult rather than a choice. It was ridiculous. We eventually got that straighten out. The owner complained to us that we didn't have breakfast at the property each day, but they didn't start serving until 8:30 and by then we were already gone on outings. While we were there they property hosted a wedding and two birthday parties, which meant music and noise until 2AM. They did cut the grass for those events so I suppose that was nice. We had dinner at the property once. The chef was good and friendly, a nice treat. I have included pictures of the reality of the common room so you won't be surprised. The WiFi was horrible. No service at all for many hours during the daytime. The rooms had inadequate power outlets, often only one was available. The beds were hard as rock, but this is typical of Italian accommodations. Here's what I would recommend. If you are used to Italian properties, you probably won't be too upset, but if you've traveled worldwide and paid more than 110 euro a night at other locations, you'll need to think twice before you choose this one. It needs a LOT of work and commitment from the management for guest comfort.

Ancient villa dating back to the late nineteenth century, with a large courtyard and surrounded by the countryside and a vineyard of property, in the district from which it takes the name Li Cuti, in the town of Sannicola about 7 km from Gallipoli. Presents typical architectural features of the area: the floors are all in original style mortar with the building and particular frescoes enrich some ceilings, in particular you can admire the one that embellishes the room called Liberty, usually used for breakfast, where you can taste products genuine of the Salento area (bread, fruit, jams, pies and much more). The hotel is not far away from Gallipoli, it does not take more than 10 min to drive to the beautiful town.there are more than enough parking spaces in front of the hotel. The staff was great and always happy to help. The room was very clean, towels soft and white. Breakfast was a lovely surprise-local producys, great cheese. The room was tiny though - but for the one night we stayed more than enough. We had a room facing the street and it was pretty noisy during the night. We could hear every vehicle and also every person talking in the hall.
