Mid 20th-century hotel located in the heart of Akureyri, the gateway to the rich natural splendor of northeast Iceland.
We stayed here for 3 nights. Overall, the room was OK. Our room was on the fifth floor. It was quiet. The hotel is well-located, in the centre of Akureyri. However, parking places around the hotel are limited. It is difficult to find a place to park. The breakfast buffet is average. Everything tasted bland. A staff member (the person in charge of the breakfast staff) was not friendly. Made me feel unwelcome.

Skjaldarvik guesthouse, restaurant and tourist service is a family business. We put our lives and souls in it. Óli, Dísa and our girls, Klara, Katrín and Sunneva, will offer you a warm welcome.
We stayed here with a group of 14 students for several nights. Fantastic location directly at the fjord (whales visible from the hot tub), great breakfast and dinner, super friendly and helpful staff (they even kept the restaurant open after hours for us when we were delayed on one of our excursions), and the cutest Icelandic horses on property. We will definitely come back with another group next year!

Stay and play in our vibrant Northern capital, with its many shops, restaurants, local events and friendly people. Explore the amazing countryside, full of some of Iceland's most amazing natural attractions.
Room was ok - we were given a senior room and taking a shower meant most of the floor in the bathroom got very wet (which means poor design). The breakfast was ok - not great but ok. Room was pleasant - about standard size for a hotel at this price point. Breakfast room food was ok. Nothing special. Pleasant backyard patio and cute indoor little play area for children (had not see this kind of thing in other hotels - pease see picture below

️️️️️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Service ️️️️️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Amenities ️️️️️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Location Good little comfy apartment to stay in Akureyri ?? ! The bed was really comfy and it was very nice to use the Hot Tub on the balcony in the evening while having a beer ! The only thing could be that the water should be 2-3 degrees warmer…

Hotel Nord is located in the centre of Akureyri town.
This is a grim hotel in a central location. I had a tiny room and the carpet was old and grubby. Breakfast was chaos as there are not enough seats in the dining area for the hotel guests so some people ate in the lobby. Avoid this hotel and stay elsewhere.

So glad we took a chance on this hotel - it is across the river from Akureyri high up on hill looking over the city and mountains, perfect for sunsets. The room was very large and clean. Not sure I agree with soundproof rooms as we could hear our neighbors come in at night and use bathroom and talk. This was in room 7 which has a balcony on top floor. Great little coffee machine with a selection of pods including hot chocolate which we enjoyed on the balcony on a chilly night. We were able to check in midday and the owner was gracious and helpful. Like others mentioned, He accomodated our early checkout with breakfast before the normal hours starting at 8. A nice basic selection of fruits, skyr, juices and breads. If you are staying in Akureyri with a car definitely check Hafdals out over staying in the city - you will not be disappointed.

17 room country guesthouse in the Akureyri Countryside North Iceland, all with private bathroom. Only 8 minutes from Akureyri. We specialize in the Icelandic Lamb in our restaurant, cooked the traditional way. Lots of activity in the area such as horse riding, hiking paths, museums, churches, handcraft galleries, swimming pool, restaurants, Cow shed cafe, local Ice cream production, farms.
The place is quaint and well kept. Basic room, clean and comfortable. The highlight of the stay was the 3 course dinner, starring Lamb. If you stay here, and you do not eat here, you are missing out on one of the best meals in Iceland.

Hótel Kjarnalundur is a 66 room hotel, only 5km from downtown Akureyri. The hotel is surrounded by beautiful nature, allowing our guests to relax in the peaceful environment. Our staff is friendly and helpful. The town of Akureyri, with about 18.000 inhabitants, is a true outdoor paradise, no matter the season.
The rooms here are pretty similar to a US dorm room -- pretty tight on space. But they were clean and nicely maintained. Friendly clerks tolerated us using the wifi from the lobby to do our internet-monitored Covid tests required for getting back to the USA. Front desk also sold beer that you could enjoy there. Was a bit disappointing sterile compared to other places we had stayed in Iceland that had more character, but it was somewhat modestly priced by comparison, too.

Me and my girlfriend stayed there at my birthday and even tho it is really close to where we live fe felt so relwxwd and good there, the room and the lobby was so clean and bright and we both loved the artwork there and the fact that it used to be an old elementary school. The best hotel we have stayed in by far

The guesthouse offers good spacious and tidy rooms with excellent beds. Seventeen twin/double rooms of which five have private bathroom. Common toilets and showers are on each floor and each room includes towels. On the fourth floor is fully equipped kitchen open to all guests. In addition on the same floor, large and bright penthouse apartment with a large living room, a bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen and three rooms. The apartment has a large balcony pointing out to the main street, Hafnarstræti.
I spent one night while traveling. The room was small but clean and quiet. The kitchen and common room were great for relaxing and eating dinner. Location right in the centre of town, so could walk everywhere. Enjoyed my stay
