When we were there, the cook wasn't bad neither - dishes were delicious. But overall, service quality was as bad as it is often in China - somehow it's like an opposite to the US: too much there, too little here.

Reviewed By foxm457This hostel is great! The staff was absolutely fantastic and so was their organized tours. I went with a group of people who were also staying; to see the Tera Cotta warriors. I went in December of 2019, pre covid. Everything was very close and had an inviting feel to it. The staff would join for games and the atmosphere was great. The food was also very good. I recommend this place. Its within the Xi'an walls and close to a lot of nice areas as well. Ride a bike around the wall! You won't regret it. Thanks for the lovely time!

We are from Bell Tower and Drum Tower and subway station 850 meters, hidden in the thousand year old lane, whispering sound every day listening to the temple worship, the surrounding is authentic Shaanxi Food tea music, reading, enjoy life. We do not have the luxury of facilities, not every rhythm process, does not require cumbersome, we have a sincere heart, one for you to stay late into the night in the street, a group of lovely friends, That's it.

My first impression of this hostel was almost similar to other budget hostel.My wife really surprised when we found that the room was so spacious, bed was as good as a five star hotel bed. Really superb. All amenities were available. We enjoyed watching Cable TV for the first night. Almost every staff at Alley Youth Hostel could communicate in English especially Steven. Steven he himself waiting for our arrival at the airport as our flight arrived at mid-night. Alley Youth Hostel is conveniently located in the Muslim Quarters whereby we enjoyed Halal Food. We visited almost all parts of Muslim Quarters especially the Grand Mosque and the nearby Bell Tower, Drum Tower and City Wall. We had an opportunity visiting the popular Terracotta Worrier with Steven. Our 4 nights stay was not enough. We will come again to visit Xi'an and definitely will stay at Alley Youth Hostel. This time with bigger group.

The hostel is well and modern designed. There are different sizes of rooms, from 4-bed dorm to triple room to meet guests’ needs. The rooms are clean and comfortable, equipped with telephone, internet access, TV, air-conditioning and 24 hours hot water.
Good base from where to explore Xian
Reviewed By BWarneliusWe chose the hotel because of its location really in the middle historical city and really close by to the Muslim neighborhood. Rooms are comfortable and clean as well as the main areas of the hostel. Staff is helpful and can speak English. Breakfast is not bad.

Reviewed By HistoryTraveller8A large family room with on-suite. Good location, short-walk from Yongningmen metro station (Line 2). Exiting the station at road level, walk towards the city wall, go through the South gate, turn left. It is about 15mins walk from the Yongningmen metro station. The staff are fantastic, helpful, friendly, speaks English. Helped us call for a taxi to the Terracotta Museum. We left our luggage at Left Luggage (also very helpful staff there) Xian Railway Station - hence able to walk from Rail Station to Wulukou Metro, to get the metro train to the Yongningmen metro stop. If in doubt, speak to the locals. Look for younger people, those who look like student - a better chance of them being able to speak English. We found that policemen are also very helpful - language may be a problem if you don't speak Mandarin. Thanks to the staff at Xiangzimen and the people of Xian. We had a great time. Wished we had spent more time in Xian but we will be back. Note: Hostel do not provide soap or shampoo - please bring your own. Just a small inconvenience. Get a map of Xian City to know the locations of the metro station. Use taxi or metro to get around. This is a huge city. Not easy to walk. Enjoy, have a good time.

Very good old style hostel

I really like to come here, as it has a perfect location (easy access to the center and public transportations), friendly english speaking staff, very clean rooms, a kitchen, relax-areas, lots of information and a nice bar downstairs. The area around (along the south walls of the city) is slowly expanded with some nice bars. Outside it is still quiet, it is not a bar-street area, but you can find some nice niches. Under the hostel is also a very long running bar (ParkQin) that has a unique mix of Chinese and Tourist customers. I take a single room with bathroom, not is the season this is very cheap.
