Plus Florence

The best hotel we have ever stayed!

Reviewed By irenkalo

We stayed at Plus Florence from April 27 to May 2nd 2022. The first surprise came when we entered the room we had booked. Upon entering the room this was like an oven. The room did not have air conditioning because, as we were told, the scheduled seasonal maintenance had not yet taken place. In addition, there were several dead mosquitoes on the walls, which had not been cleaned. When we asked for a room change we were told that this was one of their best rooms because it overlooked part of the cathedral. They accepted our complaints and changed our room. Here the second surprise was waiting for us. We could not sleep at night even with earplugs because the hotel was flooded with traveling students, who gathered every night in front of the hotel entrance and had fun, without any intervention from the hotel staff. The problem was exacerbated by an irish pub that was also opposite the entrance and was a disaster until the early hours of the morning. When I desperately went and told them the problem they made fun of me by telling me that I am asking for a change a second time and they do not have a room available. After that our stay was a nightmare, we waited for the five days of our stay to pass, we were constantly tired and did not enjoy our vacation in this incredibly beautiful city. Our stay at this hotel was the worst we have ever had!

The best place to stay in Barga

Reviewed By JanvanderVlugt

I recently spent 6 nights in Hostel Villa Gherardi in Barga. I chose the charming village of Barga as a base to explore the beautiful Garfagnana-region in Toscana. The very affordable hostel is located inside an impressive historical villa dating back to the 16th century. It has a big garden and offers sweeping views of the old town. Amazing! The hostel has a great ambiance and authentic Italian feel to it. It is spacious, tastefully decorated and comfortable. To enjoy a wonderful breakfast on the balcony of the dining room is simply the best start of the day you can imagine. But most important of all: the place is run by the wonderful Adele, a bilingual Scottish lady of Italian descent. Superfriendly, efficient and someone who really makes you feel at home. If you plan to stay in Barga, Villa Gherardi is definitely the place to go. I highly recommend it.

Great hotel, lovely staff!

Reviewed By georgiafbrown

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel! We booked a private double room in the hostel, as we are a couple. However we were happy to find that we were in the hotel, and breakfast was included. The staff (especially the younger man with glasses) were so kind and helpful, really accommodating, we were allowed to leave bags in the luggage store before and after we checked in/out too at no extra fee. The room was so spacious, great shower too. View was of a nice green courtyard and aircon worked perfectly. It was super clean too which was the main thing. Very quiet and very near the train station. We didn’t use the lift much since we were on the 1st floor and it was a bit dodgy sounding. There was only 1 washer/dryer available and they were €5 each which is a lot but when you got there you could sit on a nice terrace which made it more enjoyable. We used the spa for €15 each, had it to ourselves and it was completely private, sauna, nice showers, hot tub with a little window that had a view over Florence. There was a roof terrace too with great views over the rooftops. Breakfast wasn’t amazing but was good enough and had lots of yoghurts! Definitely recommend as we really enjoyed our time here.

We have arrived to this place in 15 of april. Together with 10 more different people, we stood in front of this door, shocked. Neighbors told us that the place has been abandoned for more than 6 months now. I am in the process of filing a complaint to the police. Do not book here.

Interesting, positive overnight stay

Reviewed By Catherine E

My husband and I stayed here as an overnight on the Via Francigena. We are used to staying at hotels or Airbnb's. This was booked by a tour company for us. We had a private room and dinner included. The room was basic but very clean, good hot water and good, fast Wifi. Dinner was basic (penne noodles with tomato sauce and tasty ham slices with fresh fruit for dessert). Wine was available for 4Euro a litre and was as a typical house wine, just fine. I would recommend!

Lovely hostel. Greeting was so friendly and offer maps and lots of advice . Breakfast was included which was ok. Rooms cleaned daily and beds made . Not normally a hostel visitor but I would say this was better than some of the cheaper hotel chains in the UK. We had towels too. Good location , near station and lots of restaurants and supermarkets around . Kitchen and fridges able to be used .

Avoid. Just Avoid

Reviewed By deanoto1

For some weird reason the prices for hotels in Florence were quite expensive for when we wanted to stay. This didn't have great reviews at the time but went ahead and booked it anyway as we were worried we would struggle to find anywhere else. We stayed here for 3 nights. It's in a decent location (about 8-10 mins away from the main station), the staff seemed OK (It took ages to check in) but the room wasn't great. The entrance you had to shift your body and squeeze between the door and the wall to get in, the room had no air conditioning the the shower doors were broken so the bathroom floor was going to get soaked and would be a health and safety problem. I woke up with bites every morning even thou we closed the windows at night. I would try and avoid this hotel if you can.
