Affordable Style in Chicago's Chic Lincoln Park Located in Chicago's affluent Lincoln Park, the Chicago Getaway Hostel is rewriting the house rules on hostel style. Policies once etched in stone are being cast aside in favor of fresher, friendlier approach. Membership fees are out and hotel-like amenities are in at this stately 1928 Georgian Revival landmark that, ironically, returns to its early 20th century roots as a boardinghouse for women. Today, all guests are welcome to enjoy free breakfast, free WiFi, free linens, free housekeeping, a 24/7 chef-caliber kitchen and a BYOB policy. Add nightly events like pub crawls, brewery tours and barbecues and it's easy to see why Chicago Getaway is fast becoming the city's favorite spot for affordable short-term and extended-stay accommodations.
Great hostel, almost like a hotel. Some rooms have private bathrooms but the shared bathrooms are really clean as well. Hostel staff is very friendly and helpfull and the hostel was clean the entire time I was there. The hostel also has great wifi.

Freehand Chicago, located just 2 blocks from Michigan Avenue in the heart of River North, offers comfortable accommodations and great dining all in a building featuring the designs of renowned firm Roman & Williams. Our hotel features queen and king bedded rooms as well as rooms featuring 2 sets of bunk beds (4 twin beds in total), and two Penthouse Suites in a historic building. We have a coffee shop, Café Integral, as well as an award-winning cocktail bar, Broken Shaker.
If your room is next to an elevator stay somewhere else, trust me. If you need something from the front desk, forget it. My room had dirty sheets, a broken sink, a broken tv, and the elevator kept me up all night. If you try and get help, the manager will talk over you and raise her voice at you

My boyfriend and I stayed at the found hotel from March 13-16th, 2022, and we were quite disappointed. The hotel room was dirty, especially the bathroom, and the nightstand and light were broken in the first room and third room we had. On our first night, our room would not lock and when they tried to fix it they ended up locking us out of our room without any of our stuff. Instead of figuring out how to unlock it, they gave us a new room, with twin bunk beds, and told us we wouldn't be able to get our stuff till the morning. The next day they did give us a new queen room but it was extremely frustrating that we had to sleep on TWIN beds without our stuff. I was promised by the front desk worker that we would get 30% of our WHOLE stay back. I never got that and when I called the hotel about it they only gave me 30% back for ONE NIGHT. I see that as very unfair since we 1)didn't get our queen room, 2) had to sleep without our stuff and spend money on stuff we needed since our room was locked, 3) missed our reservations in the morning because we didn't have any of our stuff. Besides all of that, the walls are very thin in the hotel so in all three rooms we stayed in we could hear our neighbors talking or watching TV. I would NEVER stay at this hotel again. The best part is, even after being locked out, the manager never came out and apologized to us. The only people I talked to was the front desk workers. The only reason I give this hotel a star is that the desk workers were very nice and I could tell they were trying their hardest.

Perfect location for getting around the city. Clean (as far as possible for a hostel of this size) and organized. Filled with activities for the guests and a good living area, with games and plenty of space for different groups to hang out. Breakfast was good but simple, with few options - always the same ones. For longer stays (mine was 8 days long) it was a little disappointing. Some staff members always seemed in a bad mood, but the front desk people were always very attentive. The room we were offered (with two single beds) was different from what we had been informed on booking. Being traveling with a friend it was no problem, but it could have been. It didn't have much of a hostel atmosphere, if I was younger and traveling alone it woudln't be the a great experience.

This place feels more like a half way house than a hostel Run down, and with a disturbing cast of characters with social issues, limited resources and absence of management that didn't even show up during fire alarm The deal was too good to be true, don't make our mistake skip it and keep looking

The pros; This location cannot be beat. It’s downtown, close to Millenium Park. We had a view of the lake from our room on the 4th floor. There are tons of activities, restaurants, bars, and coffee shops in easy walking distance. It’s also almost a direct train ride from both airports. The hostel was very clean and well maintained. We got the private room for 3 with an en suite bathroom and they provided linens, towels, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Our floor had its own kitchen. The common areas were nice, and I especially liked how all the train lines were highlighted for local attractions. The cons: the el, or elevated train, runs next to the hostel. It’s loud so if you’re a light sleeper bring earplugs. It didn’t bother me. The AC was wonky and wasn’t working on our floor at all our final night there. This hostel doesn’t have breakfast like others do. There is a Cuban sandwich/coffee shop on site and tons of options nearby. We got grub hub twice & it was an easy delivery. The shower only had two temps. Ice cold and lava hot. Even with the few cons, I still give 5 stars bc the pros were well worth it. I would 100% stay again.

Holiday Jones is located in the heart of Chicago's popular Wicker Park neighborhood. Trendy restaurants, bars, and boutiques are right outside our door. Only a block away from the Division Blue Line train station, Holiday Jones is minutes away from the city's top attractions and is easily accessible from O'Hare airport. Stay with us, and Stay like a Native in Chicago.
I had stayed there before, and the room and bathroom were clean, it was quiet, and the location is really good (two minute walk to train stop). I was here for a conference and four nights at the Hilton would have easily cost me 4 times as much. Another benefit was that I didn't have to put up with the terrible and overpriced food at the Hilton. There were plenty of places to get cheap, inexpensive food and no lines for coffee. I was downtown in 15 minutes except during rush hour.
