Nestled in Aguacatala, a leafy suburb of El Poblado, Medellin, Ivy Hostel resides in a Colombian mansion centrally located just 5 minutes walk from the metro and Universidad EAFIT. We're owned by the same family that owns Hija Mia Coffee Roasters, and consequently, have the best coffee a hostel can offer in Colombia! We also offer professional Spanish and Yoga classes.
Ivy hostel was the first hostel I have been to, and it was a great experience! I am an exchange student at the local university in Medellín, and my plan was to stay at Ivy for a week to get everything done that I needed to do to prepare myself for the coming semester. The hostel is super cheap and very nice. They have warm water and comfortable beds. If you are concerned that your Spanish is not good enough to communicate effectively, do not worry, just ask for Sarah or Victoria (and I'm sure others) and they will speak to you in near perfect English. Coming to Medellin, I was also very concerned about things I needed to do such as find an apartment. The staff helped me find a great place to stay and helped translate the WhatsApp messages I did not understand with my now landlord. There were many times I needed advice on Colombian culture or what to do around the city or even just needed my passport copied and printed. Every single time they were so happy to help me and I am so grateful for an amazing experience. Lastly, and probably the best part. Ivy is a great place to make friends and talk to people. I went out to bars and restaurants with people from the hostel (locals and visitors) and it was a blast. Would recommend your next stay at this place.

We’re a new boutique hostel on Calle 8 in Medellin. We’re 1 minute away from Parque Lleras and Parque Poblado, but we offer something different. Relax over fresh bread and eggs at breakfast, work away at our tables or bring your friends over for dinner in the restaurant. Meet the Rango family. This is an experience better lived, than told.
Staff here were great; they organised tours for us and cabs to and from the airport. The hostel itself looks great, a bit of an industrial type feel but with comfortable beds and modern rooms. The only downside to this ‘industrial’ look is that there is a lack of soft furnishings like carpets etc which help dampen sound. As a result, you get woken up by people chatting (not overly loudly) or playing the foosball table downstairs. It’s a shame, as the hotel looks great, but we ended up having to use ear plugs. The rooftop bar is really nice, and the slight noise issue wouldn’t stop us booking here again in future.

Medellin is big, both in size and in personality. Catch a ride on the city’s metro system—the only one of its kind in the country – to explore its diverse neighborhoods. Culture vultures will love the huge array of museums, including the Museo de Antioquia, while foodies will gravitate to the trendy Poblado restaurants, wine bars, and street stalls to sample the local avant-garde cuisine. Grand mountains on all sides give this major metropolitan mecca a small-town feel: and your new friends at Selina will quickly feel like family. Breath-taking views and friendly people of Medellin will steal your heart. See the best this city has to offer all from the comfort of one of our Selina locations. Only in Medellin can you see world-famous sculptures, take Spanish lessons, catch an indie film, try Colombia’s famous artisan coffee, and ride on a zip line, all in the same day.
Laura and Catalina from reception and Quique from the bar (the Venezuelan guy) were just extremely friendly and welcoming, thank you so much. On the downside, Even though the hostel is very nice, the rooms were cramped and as it is a huge place and most guests weren’t very friendly, I didn’t like the vibe being a solo traveler

In the heart of the most attractive lively neighbourhood Poblado, you will find the brand-new Masaya Hostel in the city of the Eternal Spring. Combining the urban of the city and the tradition of the Antioquia little towns, Masaya Medellín will amaze you with its overwhelming personality and its 7 floors full of comfort, art, culture and music. From its incredible rooftop with pool and bars to its comfortable rooms and dorms, Masaya Medellín has the standards of a high standing hotel but preserving its convivial, spontaneous and cultural spirit that distinguishes us. Come to Medellín and fall in love with its people, its streets, get on its subway, explore its blossoming parks, its neighborhoods, its districts and its beautiful mountains.
I went to Masaya with my partner for a few nights. It was really nice. Good location, nice rooms, good facilities and on top of that friendly staff. Special mention to our waitress Leidy who made our nights even more special. Totally recommended.

Situated in Medellín, in a building dating from 1970, Hostal Rich provides a garden and guestrooms with free WiFi. The establishment has a shared kitchen and a terrace. All guestrooms have a wardrobe and a ventilator. Some guestrooms have a private bathrooms and others have shared bathrooms. Moreover, the common kitchen is very well equipped with fridge, freezer, blander, microwave and all the utensils necessary. Furthermore, we offer laundry service and have working space equipped with a tables and chairs. We also offer to our guests a free map of the city and are more than happy to give touristic and public transport information in order for you to know where to go during your stay with us. Hostal Rich is very well located in Laureles district (emerging area of Medellin) and it is at only 5 minutes from the metro station Estadio. The establishment is located 500 meters from supermarkets and the avenida 70 (well-known area with various restaurants, nightclubs and salsa bars).
PROS -the Laureles neighbourhood is much more of an authentic, local neighbourhood versus staying in Poblado -5 minute walk from Estadio metro, football stadium, a massive shopping mall with ATMs, and carrera 69 full of restaurants -staff are helpful and friendly, albeit knowing some Spanish is really helpful -safe -clean facilities (but a bit dated) -safe and secure CONS -beds are rock hard -there isn’t any atmosphere, it’s just a place to sleep really

I was looking for a long term stay in Manila as I work online and enjoy the city as well as hostel living unfortunately it all comes down to business and money specially in the hospitality and restauration industry. To not get into details this hostel lacks proper management and I do not recommend it there are no toiletries no proper kitchen equipment and there is no true hospitality I checked out immediately after a few nights of feeling uncomfortable

Al Bosque is Santa Elena is a sanctuary in itself. Camp, glamour or sleep in a comfy bed. This place has it all and an awesome staff to help your stay go perfectly. There is a kitchen, fireplace and lots of games including billiards and ping pong. Hike the hills starting from the property.

Bacoa Hostel sits on the edge of a lake in the Antioquian mountains of Colombia. This beautiful traditional country hostel is the perfect place for an adventure off the beaten track. We have plenty of dorms and private cabins with spectacular views of the lake and the famous rock of Penol. We have a bar and restaurant with the deck looking over the lake. In the midst of Eucalyptus and Pine trees, surrounded by the lake waters, Bacoa waits for you!
Absolute middle of nowhere, which was refreshing and quite an adventure to find/return to city. Alexis with reception is a gem! Provided food was adequate. Middle of nowhere so no reason to question security. Peaceful AF. Hostel dogs were friendly as well. I stayed on a Thursday and was literally the only guest at the hostel which made a very welcoming and down to earth atmosphere. Recommend taking a rickshaw to hostel. A bumpy ride to remember for life.
