The Shenandoah Riding Center is a first-rate equine facility with a top-caliber staff. Its location in The Galena Territory makes it unrivaled for scenic trails and tranquil beauty. From seasoned equestrians to beginning horse enthusiasts of all ages, we have something to offer for everyone!
Pricing was about expected for a trail ride. Booking and paying online was easy. Printed the waiver and brought it in. We arrived 15 min early as requested, but no one was in the office. Had to ask someone to get a worker, and someone finally came in 5 min after or scheduled time. A little annoying, but the rest of the trail ride was great, so water under the bridge. Brandi and Bethany helped us on our horses (Pengo and Spartan) and gave us a quick run down of how to guide the horses. The horses were very easy to ride, each with their own amusing personalities. Our trail guide was friendly, answered any questions we had (we were the only riders), and pointed out a few of the other resident horses and little tid bits about them. Also gave us some space to really just enjoy the ride, which was perfect. The trail itself was a basic trail that traversed the Galena territory, went by some houses, up and down some gentle hills. We got back after an hour and they took some photos for us. All in all, it was a great ride and we wouldn't hesitate to come back in the future.

Forest View Farms offers a variety of horse-related activities that include boarding, lessons, summer camp, trail rides, pony rides, hayrides, horse-drawn vehicles, group events, birthday parties, petting zoo and our famous haunted hay rides. The farm's Equestrian Center caters to both English and Western styles of riding and provides lessons and training for both. We offer many facilities to our boarders and guests including a heated barn and a heated indoor arena for year-round riding. We have two outdoor arenas and several areas for turnout. The farm is contiguous to the Cook County Forest Preserve that provides our boarders and trail-riders with direct access to miles of beautiful and pristine forest preserve trails. We offer breeding, specializing in white stallions, and horse and pony sales. In the summer visit our petting zoo, featuring traditional farm animals.
We wanted to write a review because this place was so wonderful. My daughter did two weeks of camp here and absolutely loved it. She is so excited to go back again next year. She learned so much and now all she talks about is horses ???? All the staff members were very nice and easy to work with. And she absolutely loved the trail rides! We had an amazing experience and would be happy to return.

I actually brought a work colleague from Hong Kong to enjoy a trail ride at Sarah's Pony Rides. We had the pleasure of riding Dexter and Sherman. Both horses were simply adorable, very gentle and well behaved and extremely smart (and easy to ride!) for 2 riders who were absolute beginners. Our trail guide was a young lady named Sarah and her beautiful horse, Goldilocks. Sarah was very patient with us as we timidly and nervously tried to help our horses stop eating snacks along the trail and always gave patient, helpful and encouraging directions to help us steer our horses along the trail. By the end, my face was hurting from smiling so much! A horseback ride was a last-minute idea as I was driving to work that morning, and I easily was able to call and arrange an appointment for later that afternoon for a trail ride. And after our ride, Sarah took us into the barn and let us meet the other horses and ponies in the stalls (and the other animals) on site. We were allowed to take photos and pet the animals and it was just a fabulous (and unexpected!) end to our trail ride. It especially warmed our hearts to learn that they specialize in the rescue of horses! It is so obvious that they are well loved now and well cared for now, regardless of where they have come from in their difficult little lives leading up to being rescued, saved and brought to Sarah's Pony Rides. Thank you, Sarah, Goldilocks, Dexter and Sherman! What a fabulous time!

Wonderful wonderful experience! It was myself and 5 kids ranging in age from 11-16. Our guide Kelly was talktive and informative. Beautiful trail ride. We were the only group to have a ride scheduled for the day so were very very thankful that Kelly and her son were willing to come in and saddle up all the horse just so we could enjoy our 45 minute ride. Highly Recommend!
