From the rare truffles of the Drôme to the vineyards of Beaujolais, the Rhone-Alps reveal the treasures of French cuisine. Gastronomic pleasures are complemented by the lush countryside, filled with fields of lavender. UNESCO-designated Lyon has first-century Roman ruins and the 19th-century Basilica of Fourvière. Forts and castles dot the landscape around Grenoble. Work off excess calories on the slopes of Chamonix and Megève. Visit during fall to take advantage of the grape harvest and many festivals.

Immerse yourself in the origins of Ardèche and rule the mysteries of Life ! A spectacular adventure in the universe of fossils turning the clock back.
This museum has opened recently, and is a great activity for kids aged 6+. The guided tour we had through the museum was led by an enthusiastic and sympathetic guide. The explanations were interesting, and some simple illustrations are understandable by kids. The exhibition is spectacular as you can see fossils from different ages and origins. For kids you can add two more activities: a molding of a claw or a tooth of a dinosaur, and excavation of fossils and stones. In addition kids will enjoy replicas of dinosaur's skeletons, like T-rex Stan. The museum is air-conditioned, which can be an additional argument for hot days, and it has a small outside bar. Prices are very reasonable, a parking is just close to the museum. A truly recommendable hidden gem!

A museum and depository of historical documents regarding the French resistance to Nazi occupation, of which Lyon played a central role.
Centre D'histoire De La Resistance Et De La Deportation is a must visit for anyone interested in the French Resistance or the Deportation of Jews, and WWII. It is a very moving "memorial" to that time of French history. If you don't speak French then you might consider using the audioguide. You might like to spend several hours inside the Museum.

Moving and sobering at the courage of the Maqui who would not submit to surrender or the tyranny of the Nazi occupiers. The exhibits were powerful and I was grateful they had explanations in English. I left the museum with some new historical heroes. Viva La Maqui. Thank you to the museum for it's preservation of this important history to France and the world in my humble opinion.
