Hacienda Nogueras

Reviewed By 508teresah - Texada Island, Canada

This is a wonderful gem off the beaten track. We visited with a private shore excursion with Admire Mexico tours and Jupiter gave us an escorted tour through the Hacienda and garden area. This museum is very diverse and very much worth while visiting, an old (1600’s) hacienda, a former home of the International Artist Alejandro Rangel and featuring many of his works, including furniture, paintings and wrought iron works. As well a small but well displayed pre-hispanic pottery collection. Within the grounds we walked through a large garden (called ecopark) with local flora and fauna and the remains of the sugar processing plant.

Museo Regional de Guanajuato Alhondiga de Granaditas

This huge stone granary was the site of the first major Mexican victory against the Spanish in the War of Independence.

Reviewed By PaulPapich - San Miguel de Allende, Mexico

This massive building is a history museum, an art museum, an anthropologiacl museum, and, best of all, the very place where one of the most important events in Mexican history actually occurred. Don't be fooled by the drab exterior. Inside you will find the story of European colonization and its many horrors, the struggle for independence from its oppressive yolk, and the courage and determination of the Mexican people portrayed in the most vivid detail. This is a "must see" while in Guanajuato.

Robert Brady's house is an absolute MUST if you are in Cuernavaca . It was an unexpected delight and a fantastic eclectic collection of his treasures beautifully and colourfully displayed. Each room is a delight and a surprise and there are excellent notes in English in every room explaining the paintings and collection.
