Our daytime historic tour is a story of Pirates and Puritans, Witchcraft and War. We travel around the city of Salem and share the tales of its amazing history. From its humble beginnings as a city founded on the idea of peace for all, to the site of the largest incident of witchcraft hysteria in the modern world, learn how it became one of the biggest shipping ports in America, played host to some of the most famous authors of all time, and learn some of the biggest secrets this city has to offer! Our daytime walking tour lasts about an hour and forty five minutes, and covers a mile's worth of the downtown area. It is an easy walk, but we suggest comfortable shoes and clothing to match the season. Our tours are unscripted, and can be customized to every group's particular areas of interest!

I went in early October 2020 with my family, and we had such a great time. Our guide, which her name escapes me, was very knowledgeable, and very attentive to our group. I learned a lot about the ghosts of Salem, and I can't wait to go back! All the locations were close to each other, and it was an easy walk. Don't forget to bring your cameras!

FAME is the #1-rated boat in Salem and the #1-rated outdoor activity in the entire town, per TripAdvisor. Don't miss the very best of what Salem has to offer! There's more to our town than witches! FAME is a full-scale replica of a privateer schooner from the War of 1812 that captured over 20 ships! We sail up to five times a day between May and October from Pickering Wharf Marina in downtown Salem. On board our traditional gaff-rigged schooner, you'll get a chance to raise the sails and even steer the boat as we sail Salem Sound and talk about the fisherman, traders, and privateers that played such a central role in the saga of Salem, of Massachusetts, and of the young United States. This is a great hands-on adventure for all ages — but you can also just sit back and enjoy a beverage and take it all in as we cruise past the historic forts and lighthouses of Salem, Beverly, and Marblehead.
Inclusions: Restroom on board

This was an amazing afternoon. First time I have ever gone sailing, so I am probably a bit more dazzled by it all then a seasoned guest, but we had such a good time. It was so beautiful out on the water, so serene. Just a great way to relax and enjoy. If you want to help hoist and lower the sails, you are more then welcome to help, in fact you don't need to ask, they will ask you. Want a chance at the tiller (steer the boat)? Just ask. What a great day!

Follow your local guide on a unique walking tour that blends stories of Salem’s most famous murders with the maritime history that shaped-and in some cases twisted, Salem. Your tour includes stops at the Gardner-Pingree House, the Salem Maritime Historic Site, and an exploration of the beautiful architecture in the Salem Common district, famed for its mansions built from maritime money. We will uncover some of Salem’s murky maritime past, with Its gilded façade built on illegal activity and slavery. Along the way, we will step back into Salem’s history to hear stories of macabre murders. Because of the graphic nature of the subject matter, this tour is 18+. All tours meet outside of Coon’s Card and Gift Shop.

Salem in the winter time is just as beautiful (and much more manageable than!) an outing in the fall. If you seek stories about the darker side of Yuletide & Winter Solstice lore peppered in with some history of the city of Salem, this is the one for you. I have been on many walking tours of the city, many have been excellent, but this seasonal outing was far and away the best. Dress warmly, wear good boots if you are coming after a snowfall, and be on your best behavior for Krampus!
